So upsetting, God bless you George and all of your family.

I love you 💔

George's legacy will remain as being part of one of the greatest and most iconic Sheffield United teams of all time.

Henderson
Baldock
Basham
Egan
O'Connell
Stevens
Duffy
Norwood
Fleck
McGoldrick
Sharp

There are so many players who have come and gone over the years/decades, but these 11 were something entirely special.

George will always be synonymous with that team and our first season back in the Premier League.

Cannot believe it - absolutely awful news. Thoughts with his family. RIP George

Very sad news. A true Blade.
Condolences to his family.

I’m the same. Laid in bed scrolling through the socials, and watching a couple of YouTube videos of happier times. The Screamer against Swansea, and one of thee promotion videos from 2019.

I was the same age as my lad is when Mel Rees died in 1993, and remember hearing the news and crying and mine has been in tears tonight. With Mel it was expected but this has been a total bolt from the blue and I keep expecting it not to be real.

When players play for a club for so long, they become a part of the fabric of the club, it feels like they are a part of the family. You get to know what they are about, what they are like and you really feel like you know them personally.

Last year I really upset when Chris Basham got his injury, I was genuinely shocked when I saw the photos and I’ve not been able to look at it since or watch the footage but this feels a hell of a lot worse.

Part of me thinks he was just a footballer, he wasn’t a member of my family or a close friend, and that I shouldn’t be feeling as upset and saddened as I am, but I feel numb, shocked and upset, and most people who share the same connection with the club that I will do will be feeling exactly the same.

I’m going to try and get some sleep now, and it’ll be hard to sleep as my mind will be racing, and I still feel a sense of shock but I’m so fucking glad that we had George Baldock play for us for as long as he did, he was one of the heroes that we did deserve

RIP

He knew what it meant to be a Blade. Rest in peace George.

absolutely devastated at the George Baldock news. for me i had to wait for conformation from major outlets like sky sports & bbc sports

but what a man. if ever a man summed what it was to play the blades. it was him, the amount of times his passion just on its own turned games & won us games. by him lifting the players & crowd on his own.

his walk to the crowd at Full Time after our win v wolves & him screaming at us. us screaming back. showed what we all loved about Furious George & 1 of few memories i cherish of the PL season (i counted 4 😃) being just 3 rows back. i still smile when i think of that. he will be a huge loss.

Such sad news! He has always been my favourite player during our recent glory years. We may of had more skill full players but no one brought the passion and desire that he did and that is why he was always the first name on the team sheet for me.

This has really hit me hard, great guy and a United legend. Thoughts with his family and friends. RIP Starman

One of those players who put their heart and soul into it and you could see and feel it from the stands.
Such incredibly sad news.
