I'm sure I remember a team with Fleck and Norwood in midfield getting promoted...No team with LM & OB up front is getting promoted.
No team with BO and JR in the back 4 is getting promoted.
No team with JF & ON together in MF is getting promoted.
No team whose first thought is pass it back or square is getting promoted.
No team that has no efforts on target is getting promoted.
You will see a common thread!
I cannot believe that JS picked this team, from just looking at them on the sheet you could not see how it was going to work. Uninspiring, cautious & a total lack of creativity. It looked as bad as last year.
On that showing it will be league 1 within 3 years, we looked back to Adkins days.
BRING BACK WILDER ALL IS FORGIVEN!
With respect, you don't have a clue.Thing is those players should be plenty good enough, my doubt is the manager, he's paid handsomely to make the difference and on that showing I have no idea what he's been doing?
Blades always do best under managers with big characters, Bassett, Warnock, Wilder for example but Jokanovic just comes across as monotone, boring... I doubt he'd inspire me....
Worrying

Realistic? Fuck me, what’s realistic about “anyone thinking we will win promotion must be deluded” after ONE fucking game? Have a word with yourself. It wasn’t great but the new manager has been here 2 minutes. Give him a chance FFSNot an over reaction. Just being realistic - not good enough. End of.
Jokanovic just said in his interview we're close with 2 (That will be Vieira and Davies) and that he's after 2 more. So that will be a change in personnel.I'm panicking to be honest. The squad is totally unbalanced. It's hard to believe a club in receipt of PL money for 2 seasons could have been allowed to be in such a state.
A lack of a pre-season, and a manager trying to change the system are both legitimate excuses for a slow start. However, our biggest issue is personnel.

Getting a LB in place and a proper CB at LCB will make a gigantic difference. Won't be scared of losing the ball, so will be a little more free to go for it with riskier passes. That's encouraging, although this team looks like it will need a lot more than 2 signings to look anywhere near promotion material.
A left sided centre back, 2 midfielders, and two creative wingers/wide forwards are a must if we are going to persist with this formation.

Well Vieira will be taking the place of either Norwood or Fleck (I assume Fleck). So that would only leave Norwood, who if given some space can still spray passes around really well. So wouldn't surprise me to see us go with Vieira - Norwood - Berge. If the defence is solved with either Enda or RND and then Davies at CB, I think that would be more than good enough in that department. Could be wrong ofc, but that's how I see that going.Very true, though I'm just as concerned about the midfield as I am about the defence.

Well with the kind of player Vieira is, it could also open up a spot in midfield for the likes of Freeman - Who is much more attacking minded than the others.I admire your optimism, and hope you're right. I can't help but think we'll need a lot more, including a Norwood replacement.
Yep he drew 3 yellow cards and that ugly tackle thrown in just before the whistle would have made 4 . The weak ref just blew for full time saved pulling out a 7th yellow and let the player off ,even though he cleared out both of Berge's legs.Berge was our best player by a fkin mile ( and even he was poor 1st half)
You are clearly a fool. None of the players mentioned were signed by our new manager and I'm pretty sure Fleck and Norwood were in a midfield together when we got promoted. No team with LM & OB up front is getting promoted.

These are his players, the same ones who couldn't play for him either for a year. Wilder is not the answer.BRING BACK WILDER ALL IS FORGIVEN!

And bought a pile of shite!Yes, because he did a stellar job last season up to the point he walked away.
Flecks been blowing hot and cold for a long time now .And mainly fucking cold.Seems to get a free ride compared to others.Norwood was better than Fleck who seems to have completely lost his way. Norwood found players in space.
A really in depth post that. Can't understand why the golden shower gang who love talking about piss have ignored it.....I haven't seen us play since the Norwich game back in 2020 (ok, apart from the first 10 minutes against Villa but then I had to turn it off) and I fully appreciate that the 3-5-2 system didn't and can't have worked for a number of reasons (didn't see it but relegation tells you enough).
HOWEVER, whilst the loss of O'Connell probably had a massive impact, this team, and these players are all still accustomed to playing as a 3-5-2 and I still believe it'll suit us better (need Basham back in there) as a 4-3-3 formation (or whatever the fuck that was) just doesn't look to suit us at all - the players just looked bit lost to me and we had no 'drive' whatsoever (apart from Berge giving it a bit of a go.
We were way too easy to play against in that formation and as I sat there watching us it got fucking boring - it was like watching a dog-shit England game and fucked if I'll be watching that kind of 'style' all season!
Not an over reaction as such, and admittedly I hadn't seen how poor we'd become last season either, but surely we just need to tweak a few things and get back to playing like we did when we had a Duffy at the top end of a midfield 3 and make teams worry about us?!
Still early days of course but looking at that tonight, not only are we going to be easy to play against, but we're also going to be fucking boring to watch as well!!
Not quite Bryan Robson boring but similar to the boredom level of International football.
Just my opinion, and I'm sure I'll get slated for it, but get Basham back in the team, get defenders overlapping again (but mix it up a bit and not totally rely on it EVERY time we attack) but give the opposition something to think about and get the crowd excited (I don't know, maybe try Mcgoldrick or even Freeman in that 'Duffy' role).
Rant over, early days, but please don't fucking bore us to death with formations and displays like that . . . . . . What the fuck??!!
What a fucking massive overreaction that is.It was an even game .We dominated possession. However they looked more effective on there rare forays into our box. This is definitely going to get worse before it gets better,Ismael must be rubbing his hands at what he just saw and he's got land of the giants to service with cross after cross a week on Wednesday.Swansea were garbage today and I wouldn't bet a penny on us getting a point there next game.
Congrats to all the sceptics who all summer have known what and where strengthening was needed, and had to listen to the " but this isn't the Premier" brigade.Still think we have to many forwards and some need shipping out?,well think again.
Bergerac head and shoulders above any of our players, and Birmingham,as a team, were head and shoulders above us.
Five in now seems minimum, and its not going to come cheap either,we are mid table at very best, with half a team needing to be integrated and the not good enough shipped out,all the wheeling and dealing that needed to be done in summer has to be done in what's left of the window, hope to God that the players brought in are up to it,and then the rest of the dealing done in January,to get play offs this season on this evidence would be a miracle
that side hadn't finished 9th in the prem , then had £120m additions , then got relegated
Pretty sure there was a thread like this after a certain Southend game in August 2016.
it isn't panic , to call out deficiencies that have been obvious for 18 months but not rectified - it's just plain & justifiable anger with the lack of signs that the rot might be stoppedMate, there's one every time we lose a match.
I honestly, genuinely don't know how some on here make it through the day.
Panic! At the first opportunity.
that was then - this is NOWI'm sure I remember a team with Fleck and Norwood in midfield getting promoted...
