Thing is those players should be plenty good enough, my doubt is the manager, he's paid handsomely to make the difference and on that showing I have no idea what he's been doing?

Blades always do best under managers with big characters, Bassett, Warnock, Wilder for example but Jokanovic just comes across as monotone, boring... I doubt he'd inspire me....

This is definitely going to get worse before it gets better,Ismael must be rubbing his hands at what he just saw and he's got land of the giants to service with cross after cross a week on Wednesday.Swansea were garbage today and I wouldn't bet a penny on us getting a point there next game.
Congrats to all the sceptics who all summer have known what and where strengthening was needed,and had to listen to the " but this isn't the Premier" brigade.Still think we have to many forwards and some need shipping out?,well think again.

In some ways it was a good performance because it was so shit.

It showed that...
a back four doesn't solve the defensive problems,
Osborne can't play in a back four,
Fleck and Norwood are still useless at this level,
Berge needs to move more,
we need more movement generally,
the corner comes to nothing,
strikers chasing long diagonals into the corners doesn't achieve anything,
Chucking loads of strikers on as subs doesn't work,
McGoldrick is anonymous is midfield,
Shooting aimlessly high and wide with a first time shot every single time the ball is dropping just outside the box is stupid,
We need a creative midfielder

I cannot believe that JS picked this team, from just looking at them on the sheet you could not see how it was going to work. Uninspiring, cautious & a total lack of creativity. It looked as bad as last year.

On that showing it will be league 1 within 3 years, we looked back to Adkins days.

The first time volley thing is just soooooo ridiculous. 99% of the time they are miles off target and these are professionals. Osborne had time and space to take a touch and shoot. My son is obsessed with doing them and I keep telling him don't bother they miss more than they are on target.

I didn’t think we were completely appalling dull certainly and defensively incapable but not shockingly bad. I didn’t mind Norwood and berge playing as a double pivot and drawing Birmingham out then moving the ball in behind those players into the space. It happened a few times the issue was it happened at half pace and you can see it’s not quite clicked yet so the confidence isn’t there which is to be expected. Ramsdale a massive plus for me perfect for a Slav side thought his distribution and composure on the ball tonight was excellent.

The issues though were glaringly obvious once we’d done that we had nothing, no creative outlet other than berge deciding fuck it and running into the box on his own, a creative player looks a must. Also I’m not sure baldock will be as creative under slav as he was under wilder despite playing well tonight. Under wilder baldock had crossing opportunities manufactured for him, tonight he was asked to create them for himself and failed to do so more often than not. All this can be fixed though with more familiarity and slicker patterns of play.

Now the things that I don’t think can be fixed. Didzy cannot play left wing he looked lost, ineffectual and generally poor until late on when he was pushed further up. Robinson is not a championship centrehalf under any circumstances I don’t want to see him there again. Osborn can’t play as a leftback in a 4 he’s too obvious an aerial weakness luckily I think he’s probably 3rd now maybe 4th choice in that position and getting players back from injury should see us in a better spot there. Fleck predictably anonymous normally takes a while to get going but this year what with covid, the euros and having no preseason he won’t be at his best till Christmas and we don’t have that long to wait.

Norwood was better than Fleck who seems to have completely lost his way. Norwood found players in space.

He only ever looks for players with at least 10 yards around them and its usually Egan. He simply won’t receive the ball, hold and turn. Drives me mad.
