Funniest thing about today

I get they may not be as motivated to play against Barnet.....but that part is down to Wilder to motivate. Clearly he didn't and that's the only blame I'd place at his door.

So you think he sent players out thinking they were unfit? I don't buy that. I think he was sold out big time by players who didn't look like they gave a fuck.

His post match interview kinda backs this up.
No, he picked a team he thought good enough , he was evidently wrong and must share some of the blame in the same way he shares the limelight when we, more often, turn water into wine.

I don’t think you could class today as a giant killing Danny.
Really? Something like 83 places between the clubs. I know it wasn’t full strength but wasn’t the u18s, either. Away from home too... I’m comfortable with the giantkilling tag

Maybe he didn't try too hard to motivate them and was seeking to test their mentalities and desire?

The team was good enough to beat Barnet, the performance and attitude wasn’t. Can only lay the blame at the door of the players IMO

I'd suggest the players were good enough, but the team wasn't.

I'd say 99.9% of the fanbase would also think it was good enough to win too.

Now it's up to him to sort it out and read out a few home truths to some of them.

I'd say 100% of the fan base, none of whom are - thankfully- employed and responsible for their selections.

If we win as a collective then we also lose as a collective, but they can only be hung out to dry today, Saturday is a long way off...

I mean because we were that bad. I’d call it a “giant on paper but one which laid down and died before a team much lower down the ladder”.

So you don’t think CW/AK and team are to blame whatsoever today?

Wilder and Knill, no. By team do you mean the players or CW/AK’s backroom team? If the former, absolutely.

Same old group of hindsighters who came out after players like Hammond and Adkins came in as manager. Absolute wank fest on here on day one but you can’t find anybody to admit that now

I thought Adkins was the stand out candidate with plenty of promotions on the CV. We'd made too many managerial changes in the years preceeding, so I was arguing he get a second season, UNTIL the Scunny home match and then he had to go.

I genuinely thought Hammong would be great for us. A key player in both Southampton and Leicester's return to the prem', I thought he'd more than enough experience to do a Cowans/McCall for us.

I admit I was wrong on both counts.

Lads, it’s not a movie you, or a play that you’re paying to see. It’s a football match. They’re an unpredictable spectacle.

It’s 11 human beings playing another 11. Sometimes people can’t be arsed, it’s mid-January, it’s a conference team, crowd of 9000 (shows approx 2/3 of our fan base couldn’t be arsed with the day), players out of favour, out of form, players debuting, players returning from injury. People need to pack it in with all the stupid hyperbole. It’s a bunch of second team, second tier footballers collectively having a very bad day at the office. It happens. They’re not “a disgrace.”

A lot of these lads should have plenty more credit in the bank with you all to not be deserving of all this bollocks for having a bad game in the FA Cup.

You all knew it wasn’t going to be our strongest XI fielded today. You paid and went anyway. It was your choice. You expected a performance and didn’t get one. Get over it. You’ve been given enough good days for your money in the last 2-3 years under Wilder to swallow this one and move on.

I’m talking about everyone who is involved in a match day. I just can’t believe you think that CW/AK have done nothing wrong. But hey, agree to disagree, I know you’ve probably got relationships to uphold.

It’s got sod all to do with relationships to uphold. I’d have picked exactly the same team and as the OP rightly pointed out, that was largely the team many picked before the game, too. If anything yesterday highlighted why he was right to make 10 changes. If the second string laboured against a National League side, with all respect, then surely he was 1000% right to protect against any risk of injuries/burn out. After all, if Fleck or Stevens or McGoldrick played yesterday and got injured, who do you think is replacing them? Yep, Lundstram, Johnson, Clarke etc.
Team was more than good enough to put that game to bed but the attitude wasn’t right. Sometimes, just sometimes, footballers have to take responsibility for that rather than blaming the masseur or fitness coach for, in Wilder’s words, an ‘arrogant’ display

Losing highlighted why it was right to make 10 changes?

Wow

Sorry, looks like I touched a nerve. I assumed that you were holding back on any criticism of Wilder/Knill because of your job and because you sell books with their interviews in.
The reason I thought that is because I can't get my head round why anyone would think the management team were blameless for yesterdays a) embarrassment to the club and b) disrespect to the FA Cup and football in general.
Either that or I assume you've never been involved in playing/coaching football yourself, because that way you would probably see why changing a full team and playing them against an up-for-it, well-drilled, albeit lower level team is a bad idea.
Just a difference of opinions pal.

Sorry Pele! :D

You should email Chris Wilder or the club at least to show how far you come and the costs you incurred because I’d be bloody pissed off with a day out of my life and the personal cost of you coming to watch a piss poor match, if anything the players should know!

I don't want any recompense, the best recompense I could ask for will be a win this Saturday and at Norwich away, setting us up nicely for a charge at promotion :)
