THIS is why my Dad made me a Blade 39 years ago after his Grandad took him to BDTBL in the 50's, he saw Currie and Woodward, he saw the glory years of the 70's. He took me in the early 80's, in my first game, we beat Pompey1-0, Mike Trusson scored. We went to the Lane the Sunday after a postponed game a few weeks later when I was 9 and like a star-struck kid I met Kieth Waugh and my Dad met his hero Cec Caldwell (RIP)at the same time. My first memory as a Blade is the Boxing Day Massacre, I cried and cried, (I was 7) I was there when we beat Peterborough 4-0 home and away in the following season, I was there for the last game in front of the kop... I was there v Palace/Wolves/Burnley in the play-off final, I was there v Leicester, I was there in the semis v Liverpool/Arsenal/Newcatle.
I am now the proud Dad of two lads, Sam & Alex, who both wear their United shirts with pride, they are 8 & 4, Alex is a bit too young to know whats going on. Sam though has got it, I came down stairs yesterday to hear him singing , "this city is ours" he didn't know the swear words but the passion was the same. We live in Leicestershire, all his mtes support either Leicester, Man U, Chelsea or Liverpool but he goes to football training each week wearing his Blades top pretening, (God bles him) that he is Ched Evans....
This is what makes us Blades.....
