Man of the match by a country mile. Fantastic performance.
One more quick thought, O'Connell could be our next Maguire.
Chuffed to bits, well done boys.
Confidence and momentum.

Was thinking the same re JO'C. The way he carries the ball forwards reminds me so much of Maguire and I used to love watching him maraudering forwards.

Said the same about Freeman in another thread, didn't think he'd got a prayer of being good enough. But based on that performance I was very wrong, so much better than the bearded one.

Freeman better than Brayford has been since his first spell by the length of the Atlantic ocean.

To be EBL seems closer to Maguire than O'Connell. But they both look perfect for Sheffield United

BUT WE WERE ASSSUUUUMMMMEEE. UTB!!!!

Yeah, I feel a bit silly now slagging him off last season. Just shows what having a manager around who can bring the best out in you can do. Big credit to Freeman, great engine on him today.

Thought Basham just pipped him for MOM though, personally. Coutts not far behind.

Mentioned Freeman a few days ago after the Leicester game and you can see a hunger in him. Wilder has definitely got into him and you can see aggression in the lad.

O'Conell looks more comfortable in a back three and he gets forward well.

Really pleased for the lad. Was unfairly dropped last season and must be hard having a player in front of you in the pecking who you know is going to play regardless of form.

EBL looked class.
O'Connells reading of the game and little bursts into midfield is what drew those comparisons. I suppose we will be happy with having two new Harry's then.

When he first signed, I thought he looked pretty woeful. He seemed average going forward and abysmal defensively.

Under Adkins, I thought he was one of our better players at the start of the season, and felt he was hard done by when he was dropped.

While I'm not entirely convinced by him defensively, I think he's more than an adequate replacement for Brayford.

Great performance from him today, and I'd agree he was MOTM. Influenced the game with his play and chipped in with a goal, hard to ask any more of him.

How about this for stupid,
My biggest gripe with him was I saw him shout at a fan at Stocksbridge. Nothing too offensive and it was about the game but for me to lose hope in him because he showed too much passion is really embarrassing.

Always rated him..unlucky losing his place when Brayford came back..MoM today for me.

I said this in the summer.

Freeman has had s lot of unfair stick and I don't really know why. Some even saying he's not up to this level when he quite clearly is. He was going full blooded into some of the challenges today and that's great to see after watching Brayford nesh it for a year.

Wel done KF.

Always looks ok going forward but most of the criticism in the past has been ( correctly) about his defending, a back three will suit his game, pleased for the lad today, however I wonder how quick some on here will be if/when he has a poor run, hopefully we will remind ourselves of todays game.

My only worry is pace at the back.
Left and right backs cover for slow center backs and we have three of them.
When you play wing backs it's going to be harder for them to trackback and make interceptions.

I thought freeman was excellent today. I also thought he was our best player for the first half of last season until brayford came back and he lost his way. He's got quality on the ball.

I like him even more when he's not got to think about defending.

Excellent again today. Has looked one of our best attacking threats too. 352 will definitely suit him.

Hope he keeps this up. Harshly dropped last year and has come back from being placed on the transfer list looking to prove himself.

I suspect his performances in training etc was a major reason Brayford was let go.

I am also going to be humble on this one. I thought he was shite beforehand and I was surprised he escaped the summer cull.
But today and against Oxford he was instrumental. Wilder is slowly building a team with a character and spirit, something that was sorely lacking under the last two managers.

The stick what he had was justified.
His forward play especially his balls into the box was good.
Marking and tackling was his downfall noted and was duly sent out on loan to Pompey.
Wilder from the start made it clear he was part of his plans exit Brayford in he comes against Oxford and Gillingham.
Clearly the system suits him and the manager believes in him that helps.

To be honest I think there is a lot more going off with Brayford than meets the eye, and it is not just a case of him neshing it.

I've seen him today, he was in Liverpool and I saw him get on the train I was driving back just before 5. He seemed quiet, subdued and to be honest he looked gaunt and ill. I've met him a couple of times before and he was totally different today.

For the lads sake I hope it all works at Burton for him, but personally I think something is not quite right, and it is worrying to see

Always liked Freeman and always thought there was a bit of class about his runs forward, he hammered (along with Hussey) the Leicester side that came to BDTBL this week (including senior players) and he showed again today what he is really made of. Look at that goal today again, the speed he came in at, the commitment to make sure 100% that the ball ended up in the net, he had a great game, fingers crossed he plays like this all season, very unfairly dropped by Adkins, CW can see what the lad is really made of.
