Do we give this a thought given 4 of our roster are out for the season? When we made our moves in Jan we were fully expecting Bogle, Brewster and McGoldrick to be around. Even when we brought Jebbo back when Brewster went down injured at Peterboro we didn't expect McGoldrick to also go and to lose a right sided defender.

As you can imagine, there aren't so many who are decent and kicking around a bit.

Link below to probably one of the better websites for such things:

You've got potentially Snodgrass there who could do Didzy's role or Isaac Mbenza, who used to be at Huddersfield. Both were only released in Jamuary. The concern from my side is not so much for this week or this month it's to safeguard ourselves in the latter few weeks.

You then have Elmohamady, the lad who Steve Bruce takes everywhere with him and Andre Wisdom, formerly of Derby and Liverpool. But neither of these have played since summer. So maybe it is time to turn to Seriki or Starbuck. At least they have been playing.

Thoughts?

Wayne Quinn, Woodhouse, Walker etc. All came in because of Injuries and did well. It’s usually the best time for them to perform. Not expecting Kyle Walker esque debuts - but it’s usually the only time the risk of playing the youth comes into play.

Andre Wisdom is training with Brum and playing for their u23s, so he may not be that unfit. i wouldnt mind him as a bit of a more long term punt tbf, no harm as him as backup for baldock/bogle

I think we will be utilizing the academy and rest of squad essentially.
Can't believe we've got McGoldrick, Brewster and Bogle out for the season with JOC been out already too.

Goode might start to get a chance and also Osborn is getting nearer too isn't he?

Then we have the likes of Femi Seriki, Hassan Ayari or academy graduates in elsewhere if needs be.

We're probably now lightest at wingbacks, but hopefully Baldock, RND, Stevens can get themselves fit too.
Up front our options are Sharp, N'Diaye, McBurnie, Jebbison and even MGW off the striker like Saturday.

El Mohamady could be dynamite in our RWB slot if 'he's still got it'. But only if Baldock is out for the season.

Would hope Seriki gets a couple of starts though.

They all want wages though
Sheffield United don't do wages, that's why we have lost players for a pittance regardless of how much we bought them for

They should have learned to do it the other way, small or zero transfer fees and better wages, but they never will.

They should play for free.

But if they're not getting paid, surely a short term deal to keep up fitness and bring some, albeit limited wages in is in their best interests

I think you missed the sarcasm there

Our wage structure has to become more competitive if we are going to compete, lots of players become free agents but you can only get them if you are competitive with wages.

Otherwise the injured, trying to prove fitness, or the bad attitude type that nobody else wants is all you'll get.

A players value has everything to do with the size of his contract, if he's on peanuts the club buying from us has an easy job in taking that player away for very little money.

Can't believe Snodgrass hasn't found a club yet. Maybe we should have him just to stop him playing against us?

He's the only one on the list I'd take..

Just to end of season, give himself a platform to find a job elsewhere, but, he seems too good to be without a club, maybe something else amiss with this lad..

Always a good player when I've seen him..

Many will not have had proper training for a long time so if we sign any of them now on the wages they want to be on (not forgetting agents fee too) until 1st of July then they may eventually get match fit after Easter so not many games left for the season for them to play in?

How much do you think Berge, McBurnie etc are getting paid then?

Andre Wisdom or El Mohamady would be better options than having to throw in Starbuck or Seriki, surely?
Not for me.

Sheffield United plan for Femi Seriki as loan decision to be made on club's promising youngsters - YorkshireLive

Can we even play free agents? Don't you have to give them a squad position in January like the Prem?

We only registered 20 players in the updated list, so plenty of spots for free agents or if O'Connell was magically fit.

Think they can be added at any time - assuming that we had not used up the entirety of the available places, which given the way the squad is set up, we should be nowhere near

Like that. There's space, and even if there wasn't, I'm sure that we could have done something like offered to terminate McGoldrick's contract by mutual consent given he's out for the season and his contract is expiring to free up a spot, on the assumption that we wouldn't want to offer him an extension in the summer (which I would guess we wouldn't)

Poor Premier League wages, which is what we were when we bought them

Now they've had their relegation paycut clause they'll be on average Championship money

Snodgrass was listed in West brom's squad tonight on fotmob (out with a back injury apparently)
