Harry Wilson was a big player for them in the early part of the season, and he was on fire for them. He's now seemingly run out of steam a bit which is understandable for a young player.

Consequently, FLDC seem to have hit the wall. They aren't going anywhere this season and I wouldn't be surprised if Fat Frank wanted to hop it to Chelsea I'd he gets half a chance. He's spunked all of Derby's money away in the pre season transfer window on big fees and excessive wages (remember how he blew us away on the wages offered to Waghorn for instance in the summer?).

He's a young, naive manager who spent like he was living for the day, and didn't leave himself much left over for January's window and reinforcements. In contrast, we held some money back and have been able to bring in the three lads who are settling in very well and who have given us a huge lift for the 2nd part of the season.

Lampards a novice, Wilder ain't.

I just wonder if Frank's bright light is just starting to wain a little with the Derby fans?

Lampard is a typical PL “I want to play football the right way” manager.
He’s naive and still has a loads to learn. Play a nice open PL style of football against them and Derby are a good team
But there are different types of styles and different challenges to overcome over a long season.
We all know teams like Bolton, Millwall, Rotherham are a bit crap playing more of a league 1 style
But notice how Wilder always gives these types of teams so much respect and says how we need to battle and match them otherwise we’ll lose. Wilder knows that organisation, strength and desire are the building blocks of lower league football.

Lampard probably thinks it’s all about having quality players to make a good team
But he doesn’t realise that when teams park the bus, a crap player like James Hanson can become so vital to overcome that obstacle.
Also we’ve seen with our own eyes how Madine totally changed the game against Middlesboro the other night.
Lampard needs to swallow his pride and have some big physical lumps on the bench that he can use as a plan B.

Yes Derby have been poor since the turn of the year. I wouldn’t right them off yet though as they have a good squad and are capable of turning the slump around and getting in the P.O.

I also think they are coming towards the end of their FFP cycle this year. They have a lot of players who’s contracts are up and will be released.

For an established club like Derby Who are always pushing the top 6 FL really wasn’t given a massive wage budget because they were near their FFP limit.

I actually think he’s done quite well in his first season and it will be interesting to see how he does when the reigns are off next season and he can put his own stamp on things.

Derby appear to be perennially poor in the second half of the season since god knows when, at least the last 4/5 seasons.

Lampard has brought in over 10 players, many prem loans from his old buddies and spent over 12m.

Hate to see what he can do 'when the reigns are off'.

I'm sure he'll carry on being compared to Gerrard for the rest of his managerial career - who do you think is doing a better job so far out of interest?

Gerrard has done well to manage under the heavy expectations, and seems to be a hit with the fans, though they're still 8 points behind a sub-par Celtic.

Lampard has done fantastically in the cups, and seems to be coping with the competitivness of the Championship, though I'm sure plenty of Derby fans will be dissapointed with their league position.

You're right, you'd be splitting hairs to decide between them.

I guess I'd have to lean towards Lampard, but not based on anything other than he's less of a twat.
