OK, here's my contribution to the shit preseason thread list.

If we beat Bristol City in the opening game of next season that will be the fourth season in a row we have won the first match.

2011-12 - Oldham 0-2 Blades
2012-13 - Blades 1-0 Shrewsbury
2013-14 - Blades 2-1 Notts County
2014-15 - Blades ?-? Bristol City

Also, if we score the first goal it will be the third season in a row we will have scored the first goal of the League One season. David McAllister scored in the 4th minute against Shrewsbury and McDonald scored first against Notts County (we played on Friday night).

So when was the last time we won four opening matches in a row?

I can't be bothered to look it up but I can't remember the last time we lost the first match of the season. It must have been 10+ years ago.

Had we not conceded that last minute goal we'd have been promoted automatically that season...well, just chasing the points totals to reflect that match obviously, clearly the intervening 45 league matches may have gone differently!
