Missing, presumed lost forever, one large pair of red and white striped testicles.

Cheers Danny.

just like the good old days eh? good to see us fight back from 2-0 down. We would have been dead and buried last season even before half time. We used to be famous for it under warnock and to a lesser extent blackwell. nice to see some cojones at long last

Famous for fighting back under Blackwell? Don't think so, to any extent. The only thing were famous for under Blackwell was incompetence and mind-numbing ineptitude.

Just goes to show that 'fighting spirt' and 'never say die' can be characteristics of a footballing team and not the exclusive preserve of Upanatem Hoofers.

Walking in a Wilson Wonderland.

It might be nice, though, for the fans to at least acknowledge our excellent start (better than any of us expected both in terms of results and performance) with a bit of vocal support for the architect.

They'd have been erecting a statue of Quickfix Mickey by now!

I'm surprised that you mention performances in the positive.
For me the two home performances have been very fragile and hesitant and uncoordinated.
It's nice to have nine out of nine but I think Wilson will want to be better than this.
Had you realised for instance that in the first match the first shot on goal took 25 minutes and yesterday, 39?
Unacceptable.
There is much needed to be changed but nine out of nice is irrefutable.

All very true. Any team with as many changes as we're seeing will take time to gel. If they can gel and improve having such a good start behind us, then we're onto a winner.

Of course Wendy did this last year then fell away spectacularly...

And the longest unbeaten away run in the club's history.

I thought getting results when you're not playing at your best was the sign of a good side.

Man United did it for a spell last year.

Fighting back to get a draw possibly under Blackwell but never really fighting back for a win.

Didn't we have the record one season under Blackwell that we lost every game when we fell behind, but won every game in which we took the lead? (Off the top of my head Palace at home might be the exception).

I think you must have had a nasty bump to the head and had a couple of seasons erased from your memory.

Aye, a real manager who can see what the real purists have been saying l along - there's no place in a decent side for Monty and Doyle. Oh wait........

For someone feeling so smugly right about things these days, you're actually being proved ineptly wrong.

Either way, everyone's a winner.

It's all relative Mall. You're right, there's been nothing sensational. We're far from Brazil (sorry Ollie). On the other hand DW started from so low a base you'd need a limbo dancer as well as a manager. Against a background of a hostile and vociferous minority he has begun the process of dragging our great club kicking and screaming into the era of proper football (20 years late).

We already look the better for it. Quinn has replaced Elpiton; Collins is wearing his boots on the right feet; Doyle showed far more in half a game for DW than all his misguided scuffling in half a season for Quickfix Mickey.

There's a togetherness and a belief about this team. I share it. In 12 months time, with a bit of luck, we'll have a team to be truly proud of. Maybe we'll give our manager a bit of credit then?

I really hope so. Winners play good football, at any level. Just look at last season's top two!

DW is changing the ethos of a great club that has lost it's way but rightly gained a wretched reputation for its dreadful style of play. That will necessarily take time and change will be incremental. In a year's time we'll have a very fine midfield. It won't, however, feature Monty or Doyle.

I think you must have had a nasty bump to the head and had a couple of seasons erased from your memory.

What will never be erased from the memory is the most insipid, negative, cowardly, one up front, play-for-a-draw-and-hope-to-win-on-penalties, performance Wembley has ever seen since Blackwell last did exactly the same with his Leeds team. An amateur in a professional game. An arrogant buffoon. What's he doing these days?

Perhaps so, but I bet you were struggling to re write your lines as the game swung our way once Doyle replaced your ineffectual darling McDonald.

None of this matters. We'll all be delighted if it pays off and we're celebrating promotion at seasons end. I just cant help point out that your ongoing campaign against those in the "we love hoof" brigade is only exposing that it doesn't really exist - and the only ones entrenched in their views are those having to re write the scripts about the likes of Quinn.

McDonald was clearly struggling with injury. He's a proper footballer and will be a major asset to our club. Luckily we now have one or two other skilful players to share the burden. Doyle was a revelation. Perhaps it was your Golden Boy, Quickfix, who was holding him back just as the former semi-pro, non-league, reserve goalie turned Stephen Quinn into Elpiton. It is Quinny himself, to his great credit, who is re-writing the script; not I.

I suspect you disapprove of the current crop of decent midfielders at our disposal (at last!). Perish the thought of The Maestro losing his automatic selection in favour of someone who can play, eh?

Is that predatory band of Premiership Managers still laying siege to the car park?

They're still out there Pinch, in their thousands. Sitting there, brows furrowing ever deeper with every ten yard dink made in the name of possession, feet jerking beneath them trying to transmit the desire to be sated until they can contain themselves no more and scream for us to "gerrit in't box" or "stop fucking abaht".

And this, when we're showing patience and possession can equal victory.

Hoof = d.n.a.

>there's no place in a decent side for Monty and Doyle. Oh wait
i think we won in spite of them not because them.. although doyle seemed to have learned how to kick the ball properly over the summer which was encouraging

>and the only ones entrenched in their views are those having to re write the scripts about the likes of Quinn.
quinn was elpiton.. he was never lord hoof at any time

I hardly think it's fair to say we won "despite" Doyle Tuesday night, whatever you think of his performances up to that point.

I don't disapprove at all - I just tend to describe actions as they play out in front of me, rather than have a standpoint and wedge every action in to fit my argument.

I want any football that delivers results. Preferably a neat passing game, but give me Warnock over Robson or Speed any day. I wasn't keen on Wilson because of his bang average track record coupled with his Wendy connections suggesting he wouldn't be given time by the brain deads. I'm desperate for it to work out for him, because he's managing my club. I'd prefer us to move Monty on because we pay him too much and his strengths (and he has them, like it ot not) are less required in this league, his limitations are obvious. None of it is remotely as black and white as you want to pigeon hole it.

Just said much the same thing on another thread

>whatever you think of his performances up to that point
well i did qualify my comment to be fair.. doyle did look 6 inches taller than before as well.. is it the same bloke? :D

Were these the one's covered in ginger hair and being stroked and elpton by Pinchy?:D

Yes I believe they were the ones. He's changed his tune, he's already praised Doyle. He must be at so much conflict with himself, Wilosn's team playing good football and a certain midfielder getting in that team.
He make me laughits so funny:D
