Mr Kevin McCabe. You may or may not be 100% blade (I happen to think you are) but you have absolutely no comprehension any longer of what it takes to run a modern day football club. I know, some will scoff and say "But he has poured millions of his own money in" and doesn't that just reinforce the stupidity of it all?

Lets look at the evidence since we got into the Premiership in 06.

Some (arguable this one) would have sacked Warnock when we got there. History only has dictated this would have been the right thing to do but in all honesty I feel this is contentious. However, following the firing of Warnock is where the madness started. It continues to this day.

Replacing Warnock with Robson. What the fuck were you thinking?

Totally changing the clubs business plan of frugal investment to spunking every penny up the wall, including future monies coming in from West Ham. With an idiot like Robson in charge you let him blow the club apart. If you had been tight on the purse strings like you are these days Robson would have come and gone and we would have been liquid.

Replacing Robson with cheap option Blackwell. Worked at first because Blackwell had a good squad. We looked fair in his second season in charge following a good recovery when he started. But then you changed your mind again and we replaced James Beattie with Shitbastard Beattie and a whole list of other players who could have got us over the line left in a fire sale. James Beatties goals kept Stoke up that season so just imagine the difference he may have made to our end of season?

Of course Blackwell was sliding downhill but you kept him at the end of a season that most of us classed as failure. Players were getting of lesser and lesser value and those sold being replaced by carthorses and loanees.

So comes game 3 of the next season having given Blackwell the funds you go and sack him. A quality decision that you couldn't have made up. The club is cash strapped you let a man you have little faith in spend it and then sack him. Replaced with an option that in all honesty wasn't any better. We lost him in months to the national team but I can't blame McCabe wholeheartedly for that. But the Speed appointment was never about getting a quality manager in it was cheap and he was one of our own. This is an alarming pattern that now follows.

Brings in Metal Micky. The minute he said he needed someone to answer the phones for him you had to start shitting yourself. We brought this bloke in, and probably paid compensation for him. Of course he was a disaster, but the rot was already there. Haemoraging money from every orifice and awful quality players led to our demise.

Micky goes and we get a chink of light with Danny Wilson. Not universally popular and I cannot for the life of me understand what you were thinking, but last season we played some bloody good stuff and Wilson looked destined for getting us up. However, we never made any positive investment in January knowing full well at that point that our soaraway best player/striker could well be in clink by the end of the season. But hey, that was never going to happen was it. Ahh.

So we come to this season. We were all about youth and this was going to be our time. Most of the big earners gone or locked up, we managed to offload our best midfielder in Quinn for tuppence hapeney to Hull (look at him and them now) and in a stroke hamstrung ourselves. But not to worry because we had this new kid scoring goals for fun and while we weren't as good we were still able to score the goals at the right time to nick games. Kitson comes in and you think all is rosy.

Then January comes around and we take leave of our senses, selling the best young striker at the club and replacing him with a loanee (hang on I hear you say, we have been here before). So the business plan has changed again hasn't it? Then we start to stutter and splutter having looked previously like we were going to be ok. Having been top of the league at the turn of the year (ish) we started losing to Hartlepool at home, Yeovil at home and we weren't scoring the goals. So, we get to the business end and Kevin McCabe shits his pants following one particular bad performance and we sack our manager (again). I know, been here before but we wouldn't make the same mistake again would we? No, with a few games to go we get totally untried and unknown rabbit into the headlights Chris Morgan. And he will bring PASSION, PASSION and shout at people if it doesn't go to plan. But you have the same squad the previous experienced manager had so what will you do differently? Probably shout at them. It works for one game. People hail the wonder manager and then we find out in the next game, against 9 men that perhaps he isn't quite the great hope. Then we find out today at Portsmouth that he quite clearly isn't any better than the bloke before him.

Promotion automatically was still a possibility when we sacked Wilson. Now call me whatever you like but this is looking more and more like one of McCabes hissy fits where the knees jerk and he hasn't actually got a scooby what to do when Wilson takes his cheque and leaves. So he brings in one of our own. No one is going to be nasty to Morgs now are they?

The point to all this? We are fucked. If we do skank the play off then we have a possible light at the end of the tunnel but believe me when I say, if we don't then we are well and truly fucked. McCabe tightens the belt even further and prepare for more Fortes and fewer Blackmans, Quinns etc.

I don't blame Robson, Blackwell, Speed, Adams, Wilson or poor old Morgs, I don't even blame Warnock for any more than our relegation from the Premiership. I blame Kevin McCabe, making piss poor decisions hand over fist. For fucks sake Kevin, lock yourself away from the club and let someone else make the next appointment. Anyone, the cleaner will do.

I had to get that off my chest because I honestly fear for the future of our great club.

I cat say get I have been particularly critical of McCabe in my internal monologue recently, but by god the above is spot on...

Well said mate.
Everything that KMC has done since relegation from the Prem has been a disaster.

Robson, Terry Robinson, Blackwell, Selling Beattie, Spunking money up the wall, selling the Kyles for peanuts, Appointing Trevor Birch. (then letting him waste money) Selling Blackman...........the list goes on.

Managers.....players......CEO's (Robinson, Birch, Winter and more)......coaches coming and going from the Academy (Pemberton, Hoyland)....fair to say he's made so many bad decisions it is hard to believe. He would have been sacked many moons ago but he cant sack himself! Sadly we are stuck with him. Dreading next appointment. He may aswell stick names in a hat and pick one out. More chance of success

I've said this before but we are a rudderless ship with McCabe still in charge. Unfortunately no-one is daft enough to meet McCabe's valuation for the club. Why should anyone give McCabe the money to write off the debt that has been run up due to his stupid decisions.

and still not gain control of the club........
Like any business man would do that..... The mans mental.
I really cannot see us getting anywere with KMC in charge. Neither can i see anyone riding over thr horizon to save us.
The only way i can see KMC letting go is if he either puts us in admin or walks away. neither of which is a possibility.

Jesus christ.

To be honest I think your mental to think Blackwell and Speed were bad managers. Then Blackwell Should not have been sacked and Speed was starting to get good and Wales took him too soon. Then Speed wasn't good at the start but then started to be come good. So that could of happened to us. And we should of got Warnock in just until the end of the season. Jamie Murphy is not on loan. Shows how much you know

Blackwell had the best squad (and highest paid squad) so KMC loved to tell us.
And failed...........

This being an english language site would you like to have another stab at it?

Then only thing McCabe has done right since 06 is sacking Wilson. A bit too late mind you. To be honest , Wilson had more than one bad game and was rightly sacked (so i don't think it was a knee jerk reaction) but Wilson didn't help himself. Being a so called experience manager, he should of known how to get the players motivated and play the right tactics, plus not bring players on in the 89th min when we are 2-0 down.

what is his valuation??

i could probably raise about 10 grand, but for that id want change

Excellent post from Blasesway above. The problem is that nothing will change until people start voting with their feet. McCabe is, like all the fans I am sure, desperate for us to go up, because the value of he club will rise and ultimately we will be a much more attractive proposition to investors. Unfortunately, we seem beset by bad luck (Evans, play off failures etc), but mainly our current plight is down to some abject decision making at the top and have successive managers have brought in players who haven't been good enough on the whole with only one or two exceptions. Only our kids have really gone onto better things in the past 5 years or so.

If people want change, then make the point in the close season. Get behind the lads between now and whenever our last game is this season. Yes, it has been poor, and yes we have contributed to our own downfall due to bad decision making, but show our protest in the summer however, I feel that the only real way of protesting that will get noticed is to not turn up and watch the drivel served up. Crowds of sub 10k would create a reaction. UTB

Pragmatic, I agree in principle but do you honestly think people will stop going in those numbers? Also doesn't that just give McCabe a hook to hang his hat on when he pulls investment totally from the team. He strikes me as a stubborn arse who would sit there with his arms crossed, blaming fans for all the clubs failings.

You really still think McCabe puts any investment into the club ??? fuck me some fans are so naive but hey ho the fear of McCabe pulling the investment he would have you believe is so vital is in fact the very thing that keeps him in power. Trust me if he fucked off tomorra the day after someone else would step in.

You really still think McCabe puts any investment into the club ??? fuck me some fans are so naive......

McCabe has said that he's putting money in. You have said that he isn't. Who is telling the truth here? I trust that you have proof that he's not putting any money in? Admittedly I've only McCabe's word that he is spending money, but then again I've only your word that he isn't.

Of course, you adding a few "fuck me, you're naive if you think he is" lends so much more credence to your argument than McCabe's assurance that he's spending £1 million a month to keep the club going. And a few "fuck me's" are worth so much more than a man's word, arent' they?

I'm not saying that he's spending it wisely, before you go off on yet another "clapper" rant, in fact I think he's wasted most of it and wasted it badly, it's just that I wonder where you get the proof that McCabe isn't putting any money into the club now when he has stated that he is? Other than just because you have said so, of course. You could put FACT at the end of your post if you like, that might help.

Like I said naive some fans, lets look at it logically we have another 23 clubs in league one the vast majority who don't have an owner pumping in £1m per month yet they all survive and do so on a fan base only half and sometimes a quarter of what we can muster. You can put FACT after that should you so wish, believe Mcwobble gob if you wish fans like you SV are as much the problem at the lane as KM himself. Perhaps you could cut out the smart arse posts and enlighten the growing number of fans who are wondering just where this magical figure of £1m per month is going and why the other 35% of turn over can't cover the costs of the day to day running. Of course I don't expect an answer just more smart arse comments to support KM.

Bloody hell are these posts taken from a pro forma?

PS - you missed out "Clapper", I think that's in standard sentence #2.

As usual Rodley you have had a couple of not so smart quips at others and added nothing of note yourself. You care to enlighten us with your world view?

I don't disagree that they would. I also don't believe that McCabe doesnt help keep us afloat. It's not out of his own pocket however. I'm usually called cynical over naive but theres a first time for everything.

Hi
This is my first post as I didn't know of this forum and Id just like to say 2 things, 1 this a spot on post and 2 what a relief to find United fans who can string more than 2 words together. Id just like to add my 2 penneth. I think Wilson had to go as his tactics where non existent and seems to consist of playing 442 regardless with his preferred 11 players. I do think that his dismissal however was driven by politics and not what is in the best interest of the club. McCabe is just deflecting attention again, and by appointing Morgan he is obviously pandering to the majority of fans. Is a no lose situation as everyone likes Morgan so when he fails to take us up through the play offs he can appoint another manager (Phil Parkinson) and make out its a "clean slate" , "fresh ideas" "full backing". The fact is hes not going to spend another penny, is too proud to admit hes wrong and god knows where this will end.
