I thought we played fucking excellently. The pigs did what they came to do and that was play in one half of the pitch and only up our end when we let them. Deano had nowt to do, the two wingbacks were good (although no real decent crosses to the heads of McG or Billy), the midfield three were effective, the back three impenetrable but there's just that margin of setting Billy that half chance where, like against Wigan, he makes his opportunities count. It's that and that alone which stops us running away with this league because as much as we fucked up two points against Stoke, as much as we let a deep cross drift in versus Derby, tonight we were that final ball, once again, away from taking the pigs to the fucking cleaners, and they know it.

Henderson 5/10: That low mark is because he had nothing much to do at all, not because his performance was middling or poor
Stevens 8/10: Very busy. Always involved but for some reason there's no real 'send it across' direction
Egan 8.5/10: Really good
O'Connell 8.5/10: Same
Basham 9/10: Fucking immense. What a difference in this player.

All three back three were good … but let's not kid ourselves, the pigs barely pressed

Freeman 8/10: He always looks knackered on the hour mark. But like Stevens, very busy and industrious
Norwood 9/10: Only drops one mark because of a few misplaced passes. I see the light now with him. That Crossfield pass to Basham in the first half - if Beckham had have made that, people would have gone from slack to hard in no time at all and messed their kecks. He was the route out for us and the start point for so many attacks.
Fleck 8/10: You could see they were fearing his craft and link up work and he has the ability to go past players with ease. Great effort in the first half brought off a good save.
Duffy 8/10: Our only real threat to be honest, but found himself in front of two players too often with no real way through
McGoldrick 7.5/10: Didn't deserve to come off. Disappointing penalty but it was a good save to be honest
Sharp 8/10: Ran his socks off for the shirt and wanted that fucking goal so bad. Was almost in tears at the end on the interview

Clarke 2/10: No idea why he was on, save to mix it up. But being as we weren't cracking balls into the area, what was the point. He won the free kick, but was ineffective.

Wilder 9/10: When the pigs come to shut us out, they'll do just that. They did it last year, and they did it again and will go away thinking they have three points, the deluded piggy cunts. He was upbeat and optimistic at the end but let's not kid ourselves, we need the magic unlocking talents of someone who can find the front two and give Billy the space to score, in this division at least. And for fuck's sake, Sharp on penalties.

I shouldn’t be deflated but I am, we’ve dominated them as we did last game at the lane and nothing to celebrate...

I hoped today we would give them the 4-5 goal drubbing that they deserved to but instead it’s another home 0-0 loss to them wankers and they’re going home happy, I didn’t want that, I wanted them in pieces and getting booed off..

Special mention to SYP, training handbook from the Cold War on how to police a football match..

Though first half we put one or two decent balls into the box, from the left, but lacked good movement in the box.

Agree with most of what you said but that rating for Clarke is a joke! How's he meant to be effective when he's getting fucking hauled down? In fact he won two free kicks in very good positions which to be perfectly honest we wasted...not a 9 for Norwood...needed more quality on those set pieces.

Norwood played excellently as the feed-link out from the back. Every time the back three got the ball it went to Norwood who pinged some clever balls-to-feet to Fleck, Duffy or the wingbacks. The first free kick was shitola though I agree.

Clarke - was a typical 'head not in the game' performance and if he comes on, we have to stop fucking about on the edge of the box trying to force a clear crossing opportunity and get it to him direct. It's how he likes to play.

Yeah, but they came from the overlapping centre backs

Some great football in the first half but we really need to make more of our domination. Happened a few times this season. A couple of quality signings would make all the difference.

No one was above a 7 , 0.0 against the worst side I’ve seen at the lane this season.

Big thing for me was Goldy and Sharp not getting across their men on some of the crosses. Bit flat footed.
agreed, but it must be difficult for them to anticipate when an actual cross is going to come in....or is it just going to get pulled back to Fleck or Duffy and recycled...

If Sharp, McGoldrick, Stevens or Freeman are better than 6/10 then we win tonight.

So you were not impressed with the quality of football from the side tonight?

I'm gonna use this now. "How many matches have you watched over the past ten years?"

I say this because tonight was possibly one of the better performances I have watched - I think the Semi Final vs Hull comes close.

Fleck and Norwood were easily 8 +
Nope, Fleck bottled it. He had a few times when there was space to run into the box and he didn’t take it. I thought we were too slow in our build up play second half, and never looked like scoring. We let them off the hook. Big time!

I am saying it as I saw it. That’s all. The last 10 mins you could tell our players just didn’t want to lose!

Villa the worst, Pigs the most unadventurous and boring. They defended well (they ought to....there was that many of them behind the ball) but it was embarrassing how little quality they showed. Glad I don’t have to watch that week in week out.
As for Fleck, McCleish wants his tits feeling if he ever picks Barry Bannana over him again. Would deserve his inevitable sacking

Never expected us to win tonight, we just don't have that cutting edge when teams come to defend against us.

Saying that though, I haven't expected us to win a Sheffield derby since Warnock was in charge.

The good thing is that we haven't lost and it's quite clear who the the superior club is in Sheffield.

We're in the ascendency, they're very much on the decline. The next time we leave this division it will be to the Premier League. The next time Wednesday leave this division it will be back to League One.

On to the next one.

Blimey - fair play, I’ve never known you criticise the pigs. Have a like.

Not a major criticism as I have already stated how I love watching us play with the style we are currently showing, but the strikers/players in the box were not getting across the front post, especially first half when there were some lovely low crosses coming in. Second, good as Norwood is, he is no Woodward when it comes to taking corners, 9 out of 10 he puts too much on them, either that or JOC & Egan are not in the area they should be in when attacking them.

Totally dominated that game but yet anther one that we don't win. We are a very good side but what we lack is that £5m+ player who does that little bit of magic that wins the game a bit like Snodgrass did for Villa last season. Get one of these type of players up front or in attacking midfield and we have a shot at the top two if not I think we will be competing for a play off spot.
The pigs, well what can you say they are fucking bobbar having said that they defended for their lives but otherwise showed nothing at all. I think their first and only shot on target came after about 80mins otherwise it was kick it hard, kick it high, kick it long in any direction away from their goal. Without a doubt one of the worst sides seen at the lane this season.
If the game had been a boxing match the ref would have stopped it.

Worst side I’ve seen since Wilder’s been in charge they are going down worst than Sunderland last season bye bye grunters...........
