paying amongst the highest is the CCC in terms of wages.

all i can say is.

What a fucking waste.

Thinking about it. in terms of the amount of money we have had available in recent years, its nothing short of a scandal.

Who would you have picked instead of Robson people?

The wilderness awaits...............

Not really a shoestring really he spent a fair bit of cash before we got promoted and some right shit. Warnock is good at getting best out of cheapo players but give him cash and he signs some shockers.

aye, and Blackwell is an expert with cash - Cotts, Evans etc;

Wouldn't have let Warnock go. Said so at the time.

Warnock was getting too big for his boots at the time, so he had to go.

However, he has gained a lot of credibility in my eyes recently for his calm and cheerful interviews in the face of the Crystal Palace debt problems. No excuses - just getting on with the job and making the most of what he has.

I'd have him back.

Yeah. Promotion on a shoestring and the width of a post from keeping us up. First promotion in 16 years. A Blade to boot.

Had his time? Had to get rid? Not a sodding prayer.

Yup, a catastrophic failure when it came down to it in the Prem. He bottled it.
The contrast with how Hull and Burnley etc have gone about it is stark.
He also seemed to think he was more important than United in the lead up to the most important game in years.
We were right to change but wrong to pick Robson.

I agree that Warnocks time was up.

He bottled the final game & most away games for that matter.

Who should have replaced him? I dont really know tbh!

>is an expert with cash - Cotts
in his defence i think blackwell actually buys some good players.. the problem is that he won't play them (cotterill) or plays them in the wrong positions (williamson) or with a style they are unfamiliar with (howard).. he simply cannot bring himself to split up the dream team of quinn, monty and henderson.
listening to the radio yesterday.. cotterill had a blinder. the donny game was all howard this. sharp that.. funny how they tend to do ok once they've left isn't it?

I agree, Warnock had done well, but like Bassett before him his time was up, I think things would have stagnated under him. Not a clue who we should have had instead of Robson, mind.

Oh, I'm not saying he didn't get things wrong, and that we also played some dreadful stuff, etc, etc, but calling him a catastrophic failure is a little melodramatic.

If we're going to look at Hull, they survived by a point thanks to a Newcastle side in freefall. Burnley's season is barely over half way, and they are starting to be found out. Both sides currently have no away wins this season. This is on the back of considerably more money than Warnock had at his disposal due to the huge increase in TV revenue.

I'm not sure that either side are reliable yardsticks by which we can measure or 'rubber stamp' United's or Warnock's failings.

None of us know the full story of what went off behind the scenes, and the absolute reasons for his departure, but I still think the decision to change was not only wrong, but very rash. We had one of the most truncated pre-seasons in history, culminating in the appointment of the real catastrophic failure, Barny Sornob.

Bassett was in charge for a season and a half after relegation in 1994, had become tired and was being overruled constantly by a spiteful chairman. Warnock was there for about three days. There were, obviously, much different circumstances on the two occasions.

I'm not saying that we would have gone straight back up, or that things wouldn't have stagnated, or that he wasn't at fault for many things which led to our relegation. I just honestly think that getting rid was a knee-jerk reaction, or allowing him to resign as he did was just the same (whichever happened), and ultimately the wrong decision.
