I had wendy down as 60 I just don't quite see them as rivals they are light years behind us it is much more a burning dislike for me, can't stand them.
Forest get a 25 again a big dislike for them, to me their fans are a close 2nd to the pigs for delusion and arrogance.
Leeds only get a 15 for my dislike of them which mainly stems from how they cheated their way to the top with Revie in the 70's

Hello there fellow championship fans I am gathering data for Loughborough University in partnership with UMass (a world leading sport management university). We need your help collecting data regarding football fan rivalry which doesn’t just focus on the premier league clubs. We appreciate any responses given. Please follow the link to give your needed opinion. Our current focus is on Sheffield United however feel free to share this link with championship fans across the globe.

Link doesn’t work for me

i had just all the yorkshire teams as rivals. as we havent played norwich for years

In the comments on rivalries, I did mention Gareth fucking Ainsworth. Not a club rivalry, but that got is almost as hated as Wednesday. Almost
Wet Sham got an honourable mention after the obvious Wendy, Leeds, florists... And Leicester after their administration cheating. But out front by a mile are the deluded lot from swillsborough

Wednesday 60
Leeds 20
The rest divided between the rest of the Yorkshire clubs

I find the majority of football fans to be fickle at times (including myself). We all love to have the bragging rights and hate when we lose against Wednesday but we only play them twice a season (when we are in the same league) and in reality they don't really have an affect on us in the larger picture. For me its a love to hate them relationship.

100 on Wednesday for me.

Depends what you call a rivalry I suppose - for me there are other teams I don’t like, or that there’s some extra bite in the fixture when we play them (due to locality or history) but I don’t consider them to be our rivals. Our fate is inexorably linked with that of our porcine neighbours. We compete for support in the same city, we come face-to-face everyday, we’re a 2 club city and it doesn’t matter if we’re not in the same division - we are always competing against them, and they against us. That’s my view anyway.

I mean in real terms our rivals are Norwich, Burnley, Watford etc - as they are the teams we currently need to best to achieve our goals this season… but that’s such a temporary rivalry that I don’t think it’s in the spirit of the survey/discussion.

It’s the thing that elevates Sheffield football from the ordinary and is the only one which matters really. It’s the essence of both clubs.

After a few beers in Sheffield I enjoyed collaring a couple of Barnsley lads in the station last weekend and making this point. Needless to say they walked off in disgust. 🤣🤣

It'll be interesting to see results, because for all Wednesday are by far and away our biggest rival, I can't slate the fans that much. Especially with questions about whether you can be friends. Two City rivalries can't work like that. We'll all have friends and family from the other side.

Done although I have written how I hate the pigs they will never truly understand how much I deeply hate that lot

For my 10 I selected 5 Prem clubs and 5 from the Championship.

The Prem ones were clubs where I said that we should emulate and then try to become bigger than. The Championship were ones where I felt that we are just as big or on a par with.

Thus our neighbours were nowhere to be seen in my top 10 despite the fact I dislike them a lot. Yes we do of course still have a rivalry with them but:
  • They've long since been the club they once were (even then, it's no better than what many other similar sized clubs to them have also achieved and done much more recently)
  • Since the turn of the Millennium we've been higher placed than them for about 3/4 of that time and counting
  • (Granted things in football can change quickly) but when you look at all of the common elements when comparing football clubs, we are much further ahead of our neighbours in all aspects.
To sum up like some others above have said, I see Wednesday as a bit irrelevant to us in the modern day but like I've already mentioned though, that could all change but hopefully it never does! I'd also be happy to see them disappear thus becoming a one club city, I for one wouldn't miss 'em!

Sorry folks, but not growing up in city I’ve never really had that visceral hatred of everything SWFC. I’ve never had to endure a playground full of piglets bullying me at school, or the arrogant fuckers giving it the big un at work. These days I see them as a joke club, with a wreck of a ground, in a suburb I never need to go to.
But on the other hand I find over the years the rivalry we’ve built with the scabs is quite a nasty one. I don’t just it’s think its about us v them either, I feel there’s no love lost between the cities of Sheffield and Nottingham as well.
The traditional rivalry we used to have with Leeds has waned over the years for me. They seem to have kicked on and left us behind a little bit, both as a club and a city.

I like the section about perceptions of the pigs...

"No threat"
"No threat"
"No threat"
"No threat"

I had to give all 100 to our porcine neighbours. The way I look at is that if the cross-town filth were playing in a play off final against any of the other teams would I ever have any sort of divided opinion about the outcome. And I could never avoid the conclusion that there isn’t another team in the world I wouldn’t be fully rooting on against the grunters- no matter what. Forest are a bunch of twats but would you really rather watch the pigs succeed than them? For me other rivalries come and go somewhat but the one within the city is a totally different beast altogether.
