I won't rise to your childish nonsense, Oliver. But I can't let this particular Olle gem slip away unnoticed.

You mean you'll ignore my pertinent points in fear of losing the argument. Nice bit of cherry picking there by the way. Here's my original post:

agree with super_pig and alcoblade to an extent. Stats can be misleading. Looking at Paul Ifill's stats in 05/06 you would think he was one of the players of year. Yet take away his goals and assists and he was awful. But that statement sounds contradictory, as he helped us to win games. Flynn has helped us to win games and we would not be where we are now without him. Whether or not we could find someone better and if we need someone to put the win up him (and Blackman) are different matters. An injection of pace and creativity out wide, whether as competition for places or direct replacement, would be very healthy. Oh and I doubt Flynn will play higher than this level. If he bulked up, grew in confidence (therefore ran at his man a bit more) and got stuck in he may make lower leve Championship. Some big if's there mind.

Look at the points in bold. In line with your argument actually. My point was that stats can be misleading.

The fact that you agree with me about Flynn is neither here nor there. Your point was ridiculous. We all know that stats can mislead, but I fail to see how Paul Ifill scoring lots and contributing lots of assists illustrates that point. You said, take away his goals and assists and he was awful. Well if you take away Edwards goals and assists, what did he do? You can apply it to literally any player in any position. "Well if you take away Long's saves, he does fuck all for the team"; "If you take away all the headers Collins has won, what else does he do?"

I haven't cherry picked anything either. Those two sentences completely contradict each other.

Just buy olle a lager(i've heard he prefers kestrel) and he'll forget all about it.

For what it's worth, I think Flynn would be a joke in 2nd tier - like the vast majority of our players so now unusual or surprising about that. He is very weak, very slow for a wideman but inspite of all that I think he is doing OK this season and is probably one of our better performers.

There were probably 20 games in 05/06 where Ifill was shocking. Not in the game, neshing tackles, poor touch and generally looking out of his depth. However he had a knack of getting in the right place at the right time. He scored 9 goals. 5 assists is pretty poor for a winger, but 9 goals is decent. The point is, that in the majority of his games his was shit. It was embarassing looking at the way he could not pass or control a ball. However, about every 3 or 4 games he scored. W-h-a-t i-s s-o d-i-f-f-i-c-u-l-t t-o u-n-d-e-r-s-t-a-n-d a-b-o-u-t t-h-a-t?

What else do you have left is your question? How they play the game. How they pass, control the ball, bring people into the game etc. This is important for a midfielder. It is less clear cut than strikers (there to score), defenders and keepers (there to keep the ball out of the net). It is not feasible for a midfielder to score every game and even create a goal every match. So what else should they do? Run at their defender, pass properly, support the full back, get to the by line, link up with others, cross well, shoot, get in the box etc. They are all subjective, which is where opinion comes in. It is not the same comparing Edwards (who scored every other game) to someone who scores one in every 3/4 or 9/10.

Can't seem to see what's all the fuss is about -
Ryan Flynn is an ordinary player in a very ordinary league - he couldn't cut it in the Championship but..............
he's the best we have in that position!
He showed last week he can't play in the centre midfield!
He falls down a lot and generally can't cross very well but occasionally he does beat the first man and creates something.........................very occasionally may I add!
We haven't any better in that position and we don't appear to have the funding to replace him!
End of .....................................................move along nothing to see here!!

You weren't at Brunton Park then?

No I wasn't. Does that excuse his bobbarness against Tranmere? Point is he's still developing as a winger and has had good games down the left. Thats where he should stay IMHO.

`bobbarness`
thats a fantastic word.

Ryan Flynn is now Flyin' Ryan Flynn because S.Quinn has gone , and I'm not missing S.quinn, I like this seasons team better than last seasons.

Did Ched get you alone in a hotel room or something?
