Hourihane plays similar position to Fleck. Can see Fleck dropping to the bench. This is all positive. Midfield lacking in energy and creativity. It might help Berge too. Playing alongside an underpar Norwood and Fleck has hardly helped Berge develop his game.

Can see Fleck dropping to Fleetwood to be honest

I’d suggest the only thing they have in common is being left footed
CH unlikely to bring ‘energy’& (most of) his ‘creativity’ likely to be (desperately needed) at set pieces
Reckon he’s more likely to be replacing Norwood

Unfortunately fleck has been pants since ‘project restart’

I know he’s had his struggles with injuries but he’s like a different player. Slow on the ball, doesn’t want to drive forward. Doesn’t create anything at all. Wants to stand and hold norwooda hand.

competition coming in can only be a good thing. He either loses his place and we improve or he steps his game up and we get the old fleck back.

He’s had 18 months of rope and people giving him the befit of the doubt.

But he’s not even put in half a dozen acceptable performances during that time.

either he’s broken or he’s has no professional pride in his performances. At the minimum this aught to be a kick up the arse that there’s finally some competition for him (if they sign CH)

Hourihane is a huge step from both Fleck and Norwood on current form.

Berge needs a serious kick up the arse too, but I get the point that lack of confidence in his midfield team mates might not be helping him.

Hourihane, Berge or Brunt and Freeman would be my preferred choice for the timebeing, depending on who else comes in of course.

Why are people on this thread starting to talk Italian? “Fleck has server us well”, “Want to hold Norwooda hand”......”What’s a matter you, show a no respect, it’s a nicer place, a shaddap up a your face”.
I like it a dam sight better than this Quarter back some muppet keeps using, not a fan of American football at all, but in the proper FOOT ball game it's either fullback, halfback or inside forward please .then everybody knows what the hell your on about

Only a laugh, think we all need one lately, no offence intended.

I agree in a lot of wot with wot you're saying.
But also, every since Berge came into the team we seem to have gone backwards.
Now I'm not at all saying that this is Berge's fault, maybe it was a perfect storm moment, the team on a whole starting to wane, the start of Covid, and all that went with the pandemic.
The players having to play behind closed doors, the stopping of the league when we were in the grove.
But the obvious one was Joc getting his injury and not getting replaced by quality.
The whole team, plus staff, seemed to lose faith in how we were playing previously and the rot set in.
I might be completely wrong in my analogy of it all. 🤷‍♂️

I think this will do Fleck and the midfield a lot of good, he's one of the players thats rarely been rested.

Brunt for even a pissed off Berge your joking surely

Why? He has looked fairly composed in the two matches he has played and it's clear that he wants to be on the pitch. I can't say the same with any real confidence about Berge at the moment.

I'd like to see Brunt on the bench at least. Then see what he can offer coming on as a sub rather than being thrown straight into the team. But with Hourihane and hopefully Guedioura as new midfielders. It could mean bringing Brunt on as a sub into a midfield playing with more quality (hopefully) would help him develop as a player, this should help him more than playing alongside Fleck or Norwood (who look like they are on their knees after last 18 months)

For the good of Flecks own career he needs to move on to a new challenge. He doesn’t seem to be enjoying his football. A fresh start would do us and him good.

Same with Norwood, presume there will be no takers for either though based on what they earn with us and their form.

I actually think a move with benefit them too.

Norwood was great when he first came, fans/ teams that actually play wingers will enjoy his long range passing ability.

His form started slipping for us towards the end of the promotion season, fans were getting frustrated with how much he was slowing us down.

Then in the premiership season I think he got away with how defensive we were.

All this said for a long time we had a far better win record with him in the team than without for a couple of season.

Time for Jimmy to go and John to return quickly.

Seems like he is going to have to fight to get in the team.

Hope so…..Fleck has been dire for 18mths…he’s had more than enough opportunities to put that right.

Fleck has been struggling with a series injuries for quite a time now, has been part of a long time losing team, his confidence seems to be shot and he is not half the player he was. Needs either a rest, competition, better players around him or fresh start elsewhere.

I welcome Hourihane but playing alongside Zac Brunt and Another pacy creative midfielder.
I formed my opinion of Berge after 2 or 3 games, he doesn't suit english football as not quick enough and as mobile as a fully laden container ship.
Convenient covid test but for me he should be sold if not now then January.
Fleck and Norwood maybe keep either or sell but don't shackle Hurricane by playing the existing three around him.
