Mempham Brentford to Bournemouth for 12m Fleck us to cheats for 4m...I don't think so...bit as many have pointed out a release clause or cashflow problem may be behind it IF true

If he did go there, he’d be guaranteed a Scotland call up every single time, no matter how bad form he was in. Premiership innit.

Imo, either:

Fleck has a release clause
CW has a replacement lined up
The board have made the decision regardless
I can only see it being one of the first 2.

In my opinion most likely a release clause but I have no problems if CW want to move him on to facilitate something else.

Kevin Mcdonald was the worst one in my view. Jags was obviously a better player but we had money to spend then, having just got relegated from the PL. £4m wasn't a bad fee at the time, although it sounds low now. But McDonald going for an initial £350,000 was a joke and is why he always get booed since. Saying that if Fleck leaves I'd take McDonald back in a heart beat!

The club was financially crippled at the time we signed him and couldn't offer him a proper contract with a competitive wage. By the time he left we unfortunately upgraded his contract and remove that release clause.

If he did have a £4m release clause, I'd have thought others inc. Burnley would have triggered it before now.

Let's hope it is just mischief making

Given that he signed his new contract in Sept 2017, does anyone really think he'd still be here if he'd had a £4m release clause last summer? About ten Championship teams would've snapped him up for starters.

Or that we'd have a clause for that little in Sept 2017 when he'd just been at the heart of one of the most sustained periods of success we've had in recent memory?

I've got to say, this all seems a little silly to me...

Norwood has achieved more than Fleck at this level and is younger yet we paid £2M for him from a Prem club, on that basis how do we evaluate £4M for Fleck ?

These footballers are human beings not stocks and shares.

There's a fair few more considerations to take into account.

Such as? I still think you buy footballers for the lowest price possible and sell them, at the opportune moment, for the best price possible. Without sentiment, and as often as possible at a time convenient to your football club.

He’s been a bit part player at most of his clubs. Fleck has been our key midfielder for 3 years.

4mil is not even half his worth

Well last night he said he loves being a Blade so if owt is happening I cant see it being down to the player himself. Absolutely no hint of him being off anywhere.

Shammers should be on a black list of clubs we aren’t prepared to do business with, given that they cheated us out of a place in the Premier League.

Surely McCabe remembers suing the twats?

If we’re discussing his market value then I’d say around £5-6m sounds about right for him.

£8-10m and you’re talking the best central midfielders in the division - the Fulham lads last year, Will Hughes a couple of years ago etc.

He’s very good and a rare commodity given his left foot. However, he’s never dominated games at the top of the division whether on form, or not and I feel would struggle in a 4-4-2 as he lacks the required qualities at both ends of the field; defending, goal scoring, physicality etc.

His value to us, in what we’re trying to achieve this season far outweighs the £4m on the table and outweighs the £7-8m we could possibly hope to achieve for him. It’s January, replacements aren’t readily available. This would set us back considerably. I’d be hugely disappointed if we choose to sell right now and I’m sure Wilder would be too if his hand was forced.

Fulham were turning down 20 million for Cairney and 30 million for Sessegnon. Watford were turning down 10 million plus for Hughes before he broke his leg. Wednesday have turned down fees in the region of 10 million for Bannan.

for me i can see the rumours but 4m is ludicrous in this transfer market your looking at least 10m/12m before anything

Norwood was deemed surplus to requirements at Brighton. Fleck is an integral member of our squad.

If you think £4m is justifiable then you’re living in 2009 and need to give your head a wobble.

There’s a lot of talk on here about how much we should get for Fleck.

Forget it, he’s going nowhere. If this move gets sanctioned then it would be up there with the most ridiculous sale of a player we’ve had. And we’ve had some stupid ones in the past, this would rival them all.

Was it Fleck who danced the Lambeth walk when we did West Ham at their ground on penalties?

Some guy on Twitter posted yesterday about him being in a pub with his agent, in Bawtry.

Nothing, nothing at all, would rival Deane/Fjortoft day.

Just because Fleck is integral to us doesn't mean he's worth more money to a potential suitor. As I keep saying, name any other player of his age and experience who has gone for the kind of money people are saying he's worth ?
