Fleck

If we’re discussing his market value then I’d say around £5-6m sounds about right for him.

£8-10m and you’re talking the best central midfielders in the division - the Fulham lads last year, Will Hughes a couple of years ago etc.

He’s very good and a rare commodity given his left foot. However, he’s never dominated games at the top of the division whether on form, or not and I feel would struggle in a 4-4-2 as he lacks the required qualities at both ends of the field; defending, goal scoring, physicality etc.

His value to us, in what we’re trying to achieve this season far outweighs the £4m on the table and outweighs the £7-8m we could possibly hope to achieve for him. It’s January, replacements aren’t readily available. This would set us back considerably. I’d be hugely disappointed if we choose to sell right now and I’m sure Wilder would be too if his hand was forced.

Only Will Hughes I think went for more and Fulham turned down about 20m for Cairney.

There's not many British 27 year olds that Prem teams sign these days to compare the fee with. 20/21 years olds are going for far more than this but they have potential, you wouldn't think Fleck is going to improve other than having better players around him.

Trying to put a value on him is subjective and largely irrelevant. What's more important is the timing and if/how he'd be replaced and critically, whether it is sanctioned by CW. Unless this has been dragging on for a while and CW has someone lined up, I just hope it is a load of rubbish and at worst agent/journo talk.

If he did go there is nobody in the squad that could cover his role (Lundstram is miles away) and a replacement would definitely be required. A sale with no replacement would be a major risk to the chances of top 2 and possibly top 6.

That fee is ridiculous, but the timings even worse. Whether he sells for £4M or £14M it would be give us a hell of a job to replace him in the last days of the window as we'd have to identify a replacement, the player may not be available and wanting good players at end of a transfer window = bidding war.

RELEASE CLAUSES....

Fuck me, I thought only Spanish clubs put these in place....and us.

Thing is, the Spanish generally set about 10x what the player is worth.

James Maddison £25m, Grealish valued at £30m plus. Flecks market value is £4m. What fckin planet are some of our fans on. Despite recent form Fleck has a season and a half experience playing in a top end championship team. Thats more than Maddison had before he moved. Fleck's still on a long contract. Nothing short of £10m should be entertained unless we have shot ourselves in the foot and agreed a release clause. If we have then we only have ourselves to blame and the usual off field incompetence prevails at the Lane.

It's all about the age, can you find any examples of those kind of fees for a 27 year old ?

Wonder who CW and AK have in mind for a replacement.... could be another masterstroke.... Norwood n'all that.

Absolutely. Frankie De Jong who’s just signed for Barca from Ajax reportedly has a €450m+ release clause, which is closer to Fleck’s value than £4m.

In all seriousness though, letting him go now, for that price would be unbelievable (but very Sheffield United).

Even if he suddenly wants to go, promise him a move away in the summer if we don’t get promotion. I’d be more accepting of that personally. £4m would be a ridiculously low sale fee though.

According to the BBC no new incomings at WH.

West Ham United

Manuel Pellegrini said that West Ham won't be making any new signings in January, adding: "We have injured players coming back and they will help us in some positions.

"We have Ryan Fredericks back and Manuel Lanzini can be available in three weeks or one month more and he is a very important player.

"The other players I cannot say exactly when they will be back, but it will not be less than one month."

On Reece Oxford: "He has the option to continue improving and he must go on loan or be sold because he needs the experience."

Why would West Ham want fleck? He wouldn't get in their team and he is 27 years old. If we went up we would be looking to improve on him.

Chatting to my West Ham-supporting mate about it. He's not sure either. Although, when you think about it, Fleck is a pretty similar player to Jack Wilshere. And Wilshere doesn't seem to be threatening to get fit any time soon. Noble is getting on a bit too.

Reece Oxford would be one to go for in part exchange if it was true.

It’s makes me wonder what may have gone off behind closed doors? Is Fleck turning into a Billy Big Bollocks? Who knows. He’s not exactly been that great this season in my honest opinion, I would have dropped him 5 games ago. A midfield of Coutts, Dowell and Norwood would suit me fine. If it is true and Wet Spam are offering him £30k a week, who in their right minds would turn that down? It is the Blades board though, they could fuck up a cup of coffee.
