See that Scotland lost 4-0 to Belgium tonight honest opinions does anyone think the result might have been different had Fleck been in that team

Sorry, personally I have no interest in either the sweaties ( or the sheep botherers). Just another game we could see on if our players injured.

I'm sorry for Fleck that he doesn't get picked by his country as he is probably a proud sweaty. That said, from purely a selfish SUFC reason, I don't want him to get called up. More chances of him getting injured, and mixing with other players who tell him tales of how they are on mega bucks at other clubs and how great their agents are. Im sure he knows this already, but id rather that fact didn't get rammed down his throat at international training camps by lesser players, all leading to him potentially becoming unsettled at Utd.

Though if he's gunna play for anyone on the international stage, then I'd rather him claim sassenach ancestry and get himself a call up for the boys in white along with Billy and Duffy. Then I might start watching England again.

Mind u, the FA and the establishment would only ruin them all. Fuk sake they awarded more caps to Carlton Palmer than Tony Currie - that's how clued up England have been over the years.

I’d like none of our players to play international football so I wouldn’t get so wound up about it. Scotland are shit no matter who plays and I genuinely wish them many unsuccessful qualifying campaigns. Maybe when they expand the Euros to 100 teams they might qualify.

They should discount caps ‘earned’ under Graham Taylor.

Unfortunately it is the nature of the beast. The more successful we get, the more players come in who play international football.

I can’t fathom out why Fleck doesnt get any narional recognition, or why he doesn’t seem to be rated north of the border.

People saying they’re glad he’s not in the Scotland squad also need to realise that he probably wants to play for his country. If he keeps on not getting picked then that may lead to him thinking he needs to move up a level / another club if he is to fulfil that dream.

The irony is, if he had been picked in the squad this time, he would have probably had to pull out due to the injury he picked up in the Villa game.

The other side of the coin about not wanting him to get picked is that I hope he doesn't do a Murphy and be looking for a move to a Premier League side to increase his chances of being picked. I think it would be great for the player and the club if he was to get selected.

He wouldn't have made a difference. That was the worst Scotland performance I have ever seen. A team as good as Belgium don't need three of their four goals on a plate. The backwards step we've taken under that useless prick McLeish is mind-blowing.

I'd feel sorry for Fleck if got a call up just now.

Imagine how Kane would profit with the quality of delivery, like the ball that Bashambauer (for England) put in for the winner against Norwich;)

What if he does a Murphy?

What if he does a Murphy?

It's a good point and the flip side to the pros and cons of him being picked. As you say, the point may come when he thinks he has to move on to get a call up.

Im not so sure though. Whenever the point get mentioned in an interview with him, i always get the impression he would love to play for his country, but then in interviews and in stories I've personally heard about the lad, I also get the impression that he is very settled here in Sheffield and at Utd. He and his family are probably enjoying life at the moment and might think they don't need the hassle of uprooting just so that he can play a few games for a team that lets face it, aren't gunna qualify for any major national tournament or the WC in 4 years time.

I always thought Murphy would move on as we were in league 1 and he had out grown us a bit tbf. Now we are in the championship and looking strong with a potential chance of getting to the premier league in the not too distant future. Fleck and Utd are about where they should be imo and shit each other. I think he would stay if a decision had to be made, but again, who really knows other than the lad himself.

So every time Scotland so much as concede a corner are we now doing a thing about if John Fleck would have made a difference?

Keeping Fleck under the radar in a selfish, Sheffield United first kind of way is understandable, but it’s beyond a joke now. Fleck is clearly leagues better than the likes of McGinn and Bannan and should be in that team.

He put a lot of noses out of joint when he was up there. Made his debut at 16 for Rangers and was a regular in the bars and pubs despite being nationally recognised as a 16 year old, had many a run in with the Scottish Golden Boy Ally McCoist and he then (rightfully imo) refused to sign up with the “New Rangers” leaving on a free.

Reputations stick I know Scotland isn’t the other side of the world but he moved south of the border since all this and hasn’t played north of it since. Of course he isn’t the same personality now and his talent is blindingly obvious but the lads starting from -10 when everyone is starting at 0.

The football fan in me feels it’s long over due the blade in me is happy as funkhes not involved

HAs Fleck got history with McLeish? Whenever we get a decent Scottish player it seems either history with the manager or that he plays for us keeps him out of the team. Clearly Strachan was no fan of Sheff Utd but they're only fucking the team up by leaving him out. Once Coutts gets back up to speed having both of them in the Scottish team would give it a boost.

Midfielders: Stuart Armstrong (Southampton), Ryan Christie (Celtic), James Forrest (Celtic), Ryan Fraser (Bournemouth), Gary Mackay-Steven (Aberdeen), Callum McGregor (Celtic), Callum Paterson (Cardiff City), Scott McTominay (Manchester United).

Who are the center mids in there? McTominay and.....

If he doesnt get a call up now, he never will.

There are actually people North of the border starting to ask why Fleck is not in the squad. A friend of mine from Glasgow sent me a link to a twitter feed where a number of Scotts were questioning it.
