Unless we are deep in relegation trouble early next year, Wilder's here for this season at least. Our famously skint owners aren't going to pay off Wilder and his backroom staff to roll the dice again. And they would have to dig deeper to meet the salary needs of any in-demand manager. Frank and Howe aren't coming to S2 anytime soon.

Fans calling for our manager to be sacked in September can't be doing much for team morale.

I meant we can’t get much worse performance/playing style wise.

What we’re seeing right now is just marginally better than with Selles (with probably a deeper squad and better back line), what we’re seeing right now is as bad as Speed just prior to Adams coming in - again with a much better squad. What we’re seeing now is as bad as any Warnock teams performances - again with better players.

This is as bad as performance/style we’ve seen since Adams took us down. We are abysmal, and very lucky to be on 9 points, we could easily be sat on 3 points and bottom of the league right now. And that’s down to Wilder and his training methods, style of play and tactics.
 
A.. How do people know we have no money ? He’s been backed and pissed up the wall. Loan payments will be hideous.
B….There are stacks of upcoming managers doing well at present,especially German,Scandinavian,Spanish(not Selles before I get dry bummed). The owners should pay the dollars both for advice and recruitment or their investment will be in the River Don.
C….We won’t give anyone 7 games before the Wilder fan club have the biggest paddy in the history of the earth.
 
My original one was Mark Robins about 3 years ago but he now has the cash behind him with the Stoke owners , I think Tony Mowbray would be a good choice , good manager that has also developed a lot of young players
 
I’d sooner see this season out with Chris, then go for the Hull fella when they inevitably fall down the league and eventually sack him…Think the guy has got the minerals.

Maybe it’s time not just to change the manager but change the structure too.

Bettis does far too much and he admits that he is a numbers guy. Not a football man.

There is no long term succession planning going in to the managerial side of things or recruitment, and we are quickly getting left behind.

It’s time to bring in a Sporting Director who can do all that. Bring in a head coach to work underneath to do the managing of the team. He can control the recruitment structure by appointing a Head Scout to work under his direction. He can modernise the analytics used and drag this club in to the 21st century

On the face of it. It would suit someone like Chris Wilder but the next managerial change should signal a clean break with him and the Blades.

I’d have thought Hecky would be a great person for the role and he is qualified for it too. He’s got a masters degree and very experienced and he would be able to head up the footballing department, and be ideal for a young head coach to work under

Selles did a great job for us in this scenario.

He’s been without Hamer, O’Hare and Brooks. That was a known and could have been better catered for, arguably.

But he has also been without Seriki and Burrows, Chong and Oné.

I’d hate for someone to come in and excel purely because those were now available. But that’s kind of the last excuse.

I’d say you have your three week break to work on the system, you have those missing ones back. If you still can’t get us having some identity by Christmas then you’re out of ideas.

If Oné isn’t given starts and Burrows doesn’t play then you’ve bluffed everyone really. If they are fit then all three need to be staring against Lincoln City if they are the supposed difference makers we are led to believe.

I think we’ll play 3 at the back and may even attempt to overlap. But we need wingbacks bombing forward to create chances.

If that isn’t the plan then I don’t know what is.

That's a great point, given the laboured style of football we are playing we can't knock it up a gear because the ageing squad can't handle the athleticism of modern day football,

Don’t take this as me defending how we’ve played at all but in defence of those two particular players, Hamer didn’t kick a ball for us this season. Because of that O’Hare ended up deputising on the left until he could bring in BBD.

We’ve been uncreative absolutely.

You could go Hecky Sporting Director. Monty first team coach.

Just an example but Monty is someone who has worked on a budget, CCM had one of the lowest wage bills. He blooded a lot of young players. And he got them playing winning football.

It didn’t work out at Hearts. But he’s doing well in China.

It would remain to be seen if he wanted to return to UK: money is probably decent there.

I don’t think we are quite as brassic as some people are making out.

Would we have signed all these high earners in the summer if we are?

Unless we are being badly run 😏.

As Captain Blackadder once said, we’re in the stickiest situation since Sticky the Stick Insect got stuck on a sticky bun

It’s the nature of the job. I bet 95% of football managers get sacked with less than 5 years tenure.
There are exceptions like Pep, Ferguson, Wenger etc but even the likes of Morenio get the boot.
Changing the manager should bring change to the squad, back room, conditioning, tactics etc. love Wilder for what he’s done but owners won’t make those changes with Wilder in place.
They made the right decision at the right time to replace Wilder, they just massively cocked up with the replacement and Board having their pants down with the AI.
Naïvety has been their downfall as demonstrated by trying to right the wrong and bringing Wilder back.
