The most important appointments first would be a competent CEO and DoF. Create a proper structure who in turn will appoint new manager, head of recruitment etc. Dare I say it, over at S6 they appear to have a proper CEO and DoF

Very similar situation to us actually. Both are big and historic clubs, and both floundering in mid table/relegation.Thinking specifically about that point- is that not what Cooper did at Forest?
If he’d welcome the sack, then he is not committed, the players will feel that and then where’s the motivation coming from? Why doesn’t he just leave if he cares so much, because it’s hardly as though he is helping much? Oh yes he wants another payoff to add to the previous £4m and probably very good salary. He’s not walking away, partly because he needs/wants the money partly because he cares about the club, he’s fed up like the rest of us though and would welcome the sack from what I’ve been told (someone I know who speaks with him very regularly)
Can’t see them sacking him as they just don’t care, sounds like both wilder and the players have lost interest though, I think there’s a real chance of relegation.
He'd already achieved automatic promotion with Brighton and taken Leicester to the PL. His Port Vale side were second in the league when he took the Blades job. People look back at Adams as being one of our worst managers but his record was excellent before he joined us.
Hard to say what would have happened if we hadn't sacked him but before coming to us his record was just as good as Wilson's if not better.
Cooper was a disaster in his last job at Brondby. If his last job had been at an English club and he'd achieved the same results no one would be seriously considering himJesus you all moan about picking apart the dead carcass of Leicester City and Steve Cooper is somehow winning this poll at a canter.
I didn't mind him tbf.
Dave is the best option imo.
Why? 3 of the 5 are relatively successfulThat's an unbelievably uninspiring list. And a lazy one.
No, if we're throwing money around and could have someone at Howe's level, you get Thomas FrankThe Yanks need to dig deep and get bettis to convince Tindall who he knows and bring Howe with him for big bucks with a three year plan to change the club structure
As others have mentioned Clough for Weir worked and Kendall for Basset also worked.I imagine people were saying similar when we sacked about 25 other managers in my lifetime.
At a guess, about 80% of those sackings didn't result in any improvement. The only ones I can think of that worked are Porterfield for Peters, Bassett for McEwan, Warnock for Heath, Wilder for Adkins and Hecky for Slav. That's five successful managerial changes and at least 20 unsuccessful changes in my time watching United.
He had Hamer and O'Hare at the start of the season and we were as shit with them as we have been without them, which says it all really.Of those listed I like the trajectory of Dave Challinor. Howe is unrealistic.
But I’d like Chris to turn it around.
He’s been without Hamer, O’Hare and Brooks. That was a known and could have been better catered for, arguably.
But he has also been without Seriki and Burrows, Chong and Oné.
I’d hate for someone to come in and excel purely because those were now available. But that’s kind of the last excuse.
I’d say you have your three week break to work on the system, you have those missing ones back. If you still can’t get us having some identity by Christmas then you’re out of ideas.
If Oné isn’t given starts and Burrows doesn’t play then you’ve bluffed everyone really. If they are fit then all three need to be staring against Lincoln City if they are the supposed difference makers we are led to believe.
I think we’ll play 3 at the back and may even attempt to overlap. But we need wingbacks bombing forward to create chances.
If that isn’t the plan then I don’t know what is.
What short memories people have. We can get a lot, lot worse. We can’t get much worse than we are right now.
It's not the fans fault, any of this rubbish that is being served up at the minute. What short memories people have. We can get a lot, lot worse.
Unless we are deep in relegation trouble early next year, Wilder's here for this season at least. Our famously skint owners aren't going to pay off Wilder and his backroom staff to roll the dice again. And they would have to dig deeper to meet the salary needs of any in-demand manager. Frank and Howe aren't coming to S2 anytime soon.
Fans calling for our manager to be sacked in September can't be doing much for team morale.
i like that idea. as he did a great job with youth players. but its whether he take that job nowHecky as director of football, with emphasis on bringing through Academy players. We have let too many go in recent years (Lankshear, Osula, Slater, not to mention Brooks). Keep Wilder for now but Hecky to make sure he listens to Jones and the other coaches.
Can we have someone else suggestion,I’m aware there’s already a lot of discussion on this; but without wanting to beat a dead horse, I figured a poll might be quite interesting.
I just saw a post from Bet365 about potential candidates to replace Wilder and some of them are definitely more appealing than others.
Post in question
Personally, I’d take any of them, barring probably Scott Parker, over keeping Wilder for the rest of the season.
the football we are playing is awful slow and boring thats down to wilder its negative and defensive minded no he probably wont be sacked but oh my god give our fans something to shout about there abandoning the club in droves as proved by the last 2 away followings and poor home crowds our fans wont pay big money to watch the drivel were giving em just nowWhat short memories people have. We can get a lot, lot worse.

He’s been blessed every time with a championship super team. I still don’t know if he’s a decent manager or not tbh.Why the resistance towards Parker? He's managed at this level for 3 seasons and got promotion every single time hasn't he?
I'm not convinced any of them added anything material to the situation they were in. They either went into a club with a big financial advantage, big squad advantage, are a system coach, or some combination of the above. It's also an all British list, as if someone is trying to reinforce some sort of pathetic "it didn't work twice for us so it'll never work ever" rhetoric. Christ, it even contains the old GERRIMBACK bullshitWhy? 3 of the 5 are relatively successful
Think our owners would be happy with that, minus the spend a fortune bit. They got promoted mainly on loan players who became key to them. When they went up they had to spend a fortune as they had to replace them all with permanent signings, which nearly backfired as they spent two seasons fighting relegation, which is where they are again now.
Its about progression unfortunately with wilder in charge we are going backwards .I get wilders a blade and what hes done in the past brill .But hes not changed in all them years and we are where we are now because of him sentiment has to go out of the window now and look to move forward not backwardsWhat short memories people have. We can get a lot, lot worse.
