First job for Wilder

From one of the two biggest chirpy armchair gobshites that's pretty funny.

Ignoring the fact that Clough had a fair bit longer than Adkins and built his own squad rather than 5 players.

I'll give Wilder time, even if he fails to make the play offs, from my vantage point of attending football matches.

And also because I'm aware of the difficulty in managing at this football club.

I hope you'll be attending next season now Adkins has gone, bearing in mind at the time your bullshit season ticket selling story was spun apparently because of him.
Sometimes I think you forget about what your views were on previous managers. Anyone with a bit of sense and as vocal as you were on wanting to sack Clough, but somehow wanting to keep Adkins wouldn't trot out lines like "not happy with sacking another manager" with much confidence.

They also wouldn't start chirping up on inconsistencies in wanting managers to stay and go. Obviously you don't mind doing both of those.

I've been incredibly consistent with my reasoning behind both wanting to sack Clough and giving the guy after him more time.

I've also never made up some bullshit story about selling my season ticket.

What's your issue then?

What issue? I simply asked you, as one of the most vocal critics on here, how you would react if Wilder failed to reach the playoffs.

It's s fair question. And not a reason to get your pants all twisted.

And I told you. What now?

Surely his first job would be to sort out a decent compensation package, come next May he'll be a rich man

Nothing else now, I'm not looking for any kind of long term relationship with you.

I've no idea why my perfectly reasonable question was met with such an overly sensitive snd aggressive response.

Get yer season ticket bought and pipe down.
I thought you were being hypocritical again that was all.

So Adkins only missed getting another season by 1 place then?
It's not that black and white. There were plenty that wanted Clough out for finishing 5th, but wanted Adkins to stay for finishing 11th. It's all about circumstances. I very much doubt Wilder will be finishing 11th in the league next season. But he could be given next to no budget to rebuild, in which case it wouldn't be his fault. I'd want to give him time. Adkins position was just untenable in exceptional circumstances.

You'd made your mind up well before his interview etc last Sunday, or are you saying you'd have given Adkins another season if he'd not "blamed" the fans?

No, I'm not saying that. His whole tenure and pretty much everything he did contributed to his position being untenable.

If Edgar has been offered a deal it's not the end of the world. Not the best but certainly in the top 5 players this season not that that is saying much. Good squad player.
Apart from Long who we know about I have heard that only Edgar and Flynn have been offered terms for next season.

That's exactly what I would have done too so no complaints from me if the info is correct

Really?

What things? and what are the exceptional circumstances if you're not on about last Sunday?

The fact that he managed to take a 5th placed division three side, add 5 signings on huge wages and take it backwards to 11th? Not even a remotely average manager could have managed that. I'd say that was a pretty exceptional failure.

Wilder will be inheriting a much better set of circumstances than Adkins, with cost base of the squad being radically reduced. Adkins has only left the club two contracted players, so his impact on things going forward is negligible. I still think the minimum expectation should be top six due to the phenomenal amount of new money he'll be able to spend - if budgets remain the same. Wilder has taken over the club at an opportune moment.

How much effect do you think paying off Adkins will have upon the playing budget?

Was told the same, but hopefully common sense will prevail and any offers made will now be put on hold and all decisions on new contracts left to Wilder.

As long as he makes better signings than Adkins in the transfer windows, he's done a better job already.

No intelligent person can be interested in reading this constant baiting of Barney and his inevitable responses. Will the baiters please realise it's a bit like the McCabe situation. You might not like him but he's there for the foreseeable future.
So stop the childish bullying which just fills up the threads with garbage.

2 contracted players?

Where's this from then?

Must agree sick of every thread turning into a Barney Bashing. Like I used to get sick of the Len bashing.
