Not surprised. He isn't ready for our first team and he didn't get game time at Beerschot.

Southend wouldn't have been a bad move for him either though.

Unfortunately its the highest level of league he could move to. For some bizarre reason the 5th tier aka the old Conference that Southend are in apply the same rules as the EFL namely a summer and JTW transfer window.

It might be a good thing. The staff said his confidence had taken a knock in Belgium, so working up from a lower level might help.

To say he is one of the young lads, he is built like a bloke, when compared next to Jebbo and Gordon, he will do just fine (physically, at least) in that league.

Presumably if he's at Boston he won't have to move out again? I would imagine that the Beerschot experience was pretty miserable from that perspective.

Not sure that's the whole case: we were able to send Brunt to Notts County meaning he played for a third side this season and we were able to recall Łopata between windows as he was on a youth loan. Maybe Conference sides can't register players outside those defined periods?

As mentioned by others in the shoutbox earlier, the fact we have allowed him to go back out on loan may mean good news regarding Baldock being fit.

Lad is way too good for 5th tier, but a great move considering windows and game time. A league one loan wouldnt go amiss next season, maybe to Barnsley if they are in that league?

Are you sure ? Harry Arter has just joined Notts County on loan .

Fairly decent chance Donny and Chezzy are in league 2 next year. If we’re wanting to keep lads local playing at a good standard both would seem logical destinations

Wouldn’t even mind a loan to newly promoted Rotherham if they’d want him, it’s just whether we want him to get experience in a team staying up in the Championship at a better level, or chasing promotion in a lower team

Not sure he’d be one who’d get a champ move this summer. Jebbo might if he doesn’t have a role to play here but the rest will need to go and build their reputations. It’s not like lad coming from the big 6 clubs who already have a reputation built in just based on the clubs they’re coming from.

yeah true, L1 or lower would be appropriate, then again, it wouldn’t surprise me if he makes the first team squad if we sold bogle or baldock, which is quite a scary prospect but a strategy the board were quite keen on

My mistake Loans can be made to end of March not January. Seriki could have been loaned to a higher level in the 5th tier. Probably gone to Boston because Gordon was there and we recalled him.

He needs more league football experience before getting back in our first team. He was thrown in the deep end with our injury crisis.

Realise it’s only 1 game (against a good side) but the lad was (currently) a long way short of what’s needed in Championship
Surely better to be playing (regularly & winning a few) a bit lower down the leagues ?

United have loaned a few players to Boston United over the years.
Maybe we have a soft spot for them. Freddie Tunstall, who scored the winning goal for the Blades in the 1925 FA Cup Final, was player manager at Boston from 1937 - 1940 and managed them, in three spells, right up to 1965.

Couple of ‘nearly’ lads also moved to Boston Phil Jones & Paul Casey
Casey had a decent career there albeit neither enjoyed the success of their name sakes

Two more names with both Blades and Boston connections: Peter Duffield and Ian Ross.

I was at Kidderminster tonight, Seriki was the best player on the pitch and ran at their defence at every opportunity, he was a class above and put at least three great balls across their six yard box that were just begging to be tapped home.
He needs a higher loan next season, more of a challenge, he’s too good for Conference North or U23’s football.
