Fed up of refs stopping the game.

Every time a free kick or corner is about to be put into the box, the players start holding and grappling like they were in a wrestling bout and every time the ref goes in wagging his finger and being all that.
I reckon it's time that the ref warns the players in the dressing room prior to the start that they are risking giving away a pen or free kick and leave it at that and that he will not get involved before the cross comes in.

Jack Robinson would give away 2 or 3 penalties a match and games would be 6-5 with the result based on which team doesn’t give away penalties.

Then there would be even more VAR controversy because what does grappling mean and how hard does it need to be?

Instead of talking about matches it would be all about was it a grapple or not a grapple, a bit like the recent penalty that Robinson face away then they were both at it Think the refs normally stop play and warn them he’ll give a penalty if it persists and that normally works.

Also any stoppages and the time is added on at the end.

When cameras get close there is usually no sign of damage at all It's becoming a good way to stop a team on the break after winning the ball.

Retrospective cards and match bans for all that stuff would mop it up, can just be from video in the following days.

Fully agree. I watched Leicester V Newcastle last night and it was absolutely rife with what the commentators always refer to as "gamesmanship".

Leicester win the ball in midfield, are on the counter but because Bruno Guimarães took a finger to the forehead, the game is stopped for a head injury. Likewise, Mavididi has a hard but fair challenge on Tonali towards the end of the game when Leicester were giving it a good go to get a goal, he's down for 3 minutes as we head towards 90 mins and it was clear he hardly touched him, and what he did catch was his shin pad.

Part of me thinks we were way too honest during our last stints in the Premier League and we didn't have what the pundits would refer to as street-smart. That said, it really should be commendable, however detrimental to ourselves.

If he went down and stayed down for the length of time footballers do, a boxer wouldn't be allowed to train,never mind box, for thirty days or thereabouts.

Why should footballers be allowed to get back up after being put down with a head injury and be back on the pitch after 30 seconds?

I have argued for this time and time again and gotten shot down every time.

We should have a dedicated time keeper and a time allowance for stoppages, 30 sec throw in, 40 sec corner, 40 sec goal kick ect, if this time is exceeded their should be a loud ping in the stadium for all to hear, the clock stops and the player is booked.

Will never happen because timing is governed by Sky’s TV schedule not fair play, just think how many times a ref has delayed kick off for the Ad break to end.

I’m getting ready for piss boiling on a weekly basis if we get promoted, player goes down in the box screaming in agony for a penalty, VAR has a look, no contact, player isn’t send off for simulation, wanker.

I don`t see how the first part is prevented by the second - unless you expect that games would last longer as a result.

You wouldn't even need to book the player, they either take the throw in/corner etc within the allotted time or the ball is turned over to the opposition. Would definitely make keepers hurry up with their goal kicks!!

It means that a team that is winning has earned the right to take a bit of time off the clock without being able to take the piss as they do now.

I think your timings are very generous though. I'd go with:
Throw In - 10 Seconds
Corner - 30 Seconds
Goal Kick - 15 seconds
Free Kick - 20 seconds
