What about John Hope, he pulled off one of if not the greatest save I have seen at Bramall Lane, if you recall the Gordon Banks save against Pele in the World Cup, very much like that. However I don't think he did very much else.

You may be correct there. The one that I was thinking of came on an emergency loan from Huddersfield (I think) and played against Wednesday the home match the same season as the Boxing day fiasco. The goalie that dreadful (Boxing)day, Richardson, was IMO the worst I have ever seen play for United. I believe that he cost us the game that we outplayed Wednesday.

Re Brian Arblaster.

I know not so many will remember Brian.
I would just like to mention that as a friend of Brian's family it saddens me to hear that he has recently been diagnosed as having a very serious condition.
I will not go into detail but I am sure those of you who remember him as a Blade would want to wish him and his family all the best through a difficult time.

Sorry to hear that, he was in our books (mid 1960s) without having played in our 1st team in a competitive game but he went on to have a good career at Barnsley

One of the barmaids in the Old Mother Redcap in times of yore used to go out with him. Only ever saw him play once (I think). A 3-3 draw in the Anglo-Italian Cup v Ancona.
