having read this forum regularly and contributed occasionally, a common theme emerges. There are certain people, not just metalblade and Micalijo, but others as well who launch into blaming McCabe for everything that goes wrong. I have a few questions for you all:

What do you actually know about running a football club? I mean, we have pretty much all played football, or at least watched enough of it to be able to comment on players performances and those of the team. Some of us will agree, some of us will disagree, but we're all coming from experience. How much do we know about the day-to-day, intricate running of a football club?

How much of one man's money and life do we expect him to put in? As far as i can see, he may have made some decisions we dont understand, but how you can doubt his commitment is frankly beyond me. As the saying goes, question his methods, but don't question his motives.

Look around at some of the other clubs and ponder, has he really been that bad? Yes Bryan Robson was a bad appointment, as hindsight shows. But are we in administration (Coventry)? Have we sacked a crackpot manager who came back and broke in (Swindon)? Have we appointed a crackpot manager when we're falling through the relegation trapdoor (Sunderland)? Are we Blackburn? My question here is; what are you expecting?

Finally, when we got promoted, when we dominated the championship, then when we played well all season in the PL and missed out on staying up by one goal, did you say "well done McCabe?" Honestly, did you? Or did you pick holes in him again?

Most of you probably know more about United than I do. Given some of the things I've read, anyone would think you know more than McCabe.

If Kevin thinks Danny is the man to get us promotion then I do know more than he does

McCabe's a business man, and business men are judged on results. We are a division lower, with a much worse squad, and a far bigger debt than when he took over.

Edit: Oh, but the ground looks a bit smarter :)

And as a reward, Scarborough were trojan horsed into the foreign property markets like China and Hungary, he took ownership of a hotel and football ground which will also see some nice flats on it soon as insurance against his losses.

Going forward, I anticipate the Council handing him the Don Valley site to get it off the books, Manadaric to sell Hillsborough to get his money back, then a tri-partriate consortium building a nice new 40000 all seater for both clubs to share, with facilites the council want (education centres etc) but can't afford and probably another hotel.

KM writes off all his debts and we move forward sharing a new stadium with Wednesday, pacakaged up as a new beginning and more evidence of Sheffield's pioneering spirit.

Only way forward for SUFC.

Words really do fail me ! Is the original post for real?
We have the highest wage bill in the league, we have the highest crowds in the league, the squad has the highest so called profile in the league and yet we are struggling to keep pace with a bunch of ordinary teams that put together would struggle to collectively get crowds of 20,000
Blame McCabe ? he's in charge who else do you blame?
By the way - the team that had the crackpot manager is likely to beat us to the auto promotion slots!

........and that would be the day I took up something else to worry about on saturdays o_O

Robson would not have stepped a foot inside The Lane if it was me in charfge but then our dog probabaly knows he shouldn't have as well.

What are you going to say when we do go up? "Anybody could go up with that squad?"

No because we are playing against this lot of crap

Doncaster
Bournemouth
Brentford
Swindon
Yeovil
Tranmere
Walsall
MK Dons
Notts County
Crewe
Crawley
Coventry
Stevenage
Preston
Shrewsbury
Carlisle
Colchester
Oldham
Scunthorpe
Portsmouth
Bury
Hartlepool

Can anyone tell me that we were lucky to steam roller the 4th division and why this league is any different?

Stop blindly following the club and expect more.

It's McCabe's fault because he allowed Wilson to bring in his own team (which it is now) however I put it down to the Wilson's lack of passion rather than his lack of tactical knowledge (which anyone with half a brain will know is next to nothing)

i often reflect that teams reflect the managers personality.. DW comes across as a bit of a dour individual

Of course the buck stops with McCabe. hes the man who calls the shots.
Hes the man who says yes to signings (or not) & yes to selling players & getting in managers.

theres the rub , does he, he sets the budget, he doesnt actually pick players

in hard times , he becomes a villain as monet is not as freely available , but some blades seem to think we are alone in having a budget, and we can spend mccabes money for him

Are you sure or is that just the impression it gives?

Words fail you?! They fail me. The point I'm making is McCabe gets all of the blame and none of the credit. Last season we had a squad that should have walked the division and we shouldn't have held onto them all year, but McCabe gave us a chance to go up by paying them all at a fantastic loss of money. We missed out, but last season was not his fault.

If someone can coherently argue why it's McCabe's fault we're in this mess, I am more than willing to hear it. But all I ever hear is 'he's in charge, it's his fault'. That just doesn't hold water for me. It's like saying Simmo was in goal last season, so every goal we conceded was his fault (probably a bad example as many of them were! but not all).

I don't expect us to be in League One, but I do accept we're going to yoyo between the top 3 divisions a bit over the years.

Is that you Kevin??

Heyup McWobbleGob an welcum !

Let's start with this season's easily foreseen disaster - we didn't have many goals in us beforehand, but he still saw fit to sell our leading goalscorer at Christmas, and now we can't hit a bulls ass with a banjo.
