Given the lull in new transfer targets. I got bored and tried to play a bit of fantasy football.

Given say 4-5 million to spend. Don't know how realistic that might be but Assuming Kyle walker gets sold and we try and reinvest some of those funds. How would you finish the squad - six signings or less. Obviously prices are guess work.

I'd go:

Keeper - smith (previously Northampton - free)
Cb - young cb from a pl side on loan (someone like carter-vickers at spurs or tosin adarabioyo at city would be ideal - nominal loan fee)
Cb - I'd love jagielka here but just can't see it. So someone like grant Hanley (who's probably surplus to requirements at newcastle - £1-2m)
CM - jackson irvine (burton - £2m plus brayford)
AM - reeves (previously mk - free)
ST - ward (rorherham - £1m)

Don't want to piss on your chips, but Newcastle want 5 million for Hanley. We can forget about him straight away. I do like the idea of a Jags type and a younger player who he can help develop/be his successor. I also don't believe we need another striker. 2 centre halves, a box to box midfielder and one more winger for me.

Fair point - maybe someone like Ryan shorten at Birmingham then. If the spunk aload of money on John Terry.

There does seem to be a derth of decent centrebacks about. Would have liked the guy that Barnsley signed.

Adam Smith - Free
Phil Jagielka - Loan / Free
Fikayo Tomori - Loan
Jackson Irvine - £2.25m + Brayford
Ricky Holmes - 500k
Nick Blackman - Loan

Really difficult to know what to do with attacking midfielders because if 3-5-2 works well and we don't play other formations very often we could have a ridiculous number of good players competing for one position. I'd really like Reeves on a free but I've swapped him for Blackman because there's more space for a RW/CF than a RW/ACM. These are the difficult decisions we have to make as pretend managers.
