Bournemouth tickets sold out within 2 days. Therefore the ones who bought tickets must have had 40k points or above (that number could be wrong as I'm not sure which points band it reached). That means that I couldn't get a ticket so no point in buying cheaper advance travel.
Instead I entered the ballot and was contacted on Tuesday to see if I wanted tickets, but couldn't get reasonable travel prices and had to decline. I was told a lot of tickets had been returned.
Then as the match got closer Facebook groups were full of people trying to sell their tickets as "They couldn't make it after all". In other words, they couldn't sell their tickets and had to return them to get their money back. The club couldn't sell them to even the ballot entrants so they went general sale.
Now, these tickets must have been bought by the higher points owners, who I reckon are points collectors who had no intention of going to the game, but hoped they could move the tickets on, still keeping their points, (as I suspect for a lot of away games).
To stop this farce, tickets should go on sale a week earlier opening to people with less points. 25000 points has been suggested which is a good idea, but I would make it lower. 15K would be a good figure, since you would have had to have had at least 6 years of season tickets, or more if you haven't got one for one reason or another. I'm not including points for away games as it has been near impossible to get a ticket for the attractive games unless you're in the 30k+ bracket.
Another suggestion could be to make the maximum points to be capped at say 6 years worth, that's around 16,000 points and start selling at that figure. After all, 6 years of attendance should prove you are a supporter. Tickets will sell easier and allow people to make advance arrangements to get there.
And stop people using their 101 year old dead grandads points, but that's another discussion.
