The reality is that while it's totally wrong to boo or sarcastically cheer George during the game (not going to help him or Utd) he just simply isn't good enough. As already said he should have been replaced well before now so Wilder must take a degree of responsibility. He watched us enough to surely know Longs abilities were suspect never mind going into the season without any serious competition/back up. One things for sure, whatever confidence Long had must surely be shot to pieces now and it's vital he's taken out of the firing line soon before it finishes him off all together

It just is

But what's even funnier is that if he played for us he wouldn't have even had a shot on target in four games.
You are obsessed with a striker who plays for another team in our league, thinks it is hilarious when he scores and then say he wouldn't scored if he played for us.
How bizarre.

I agree, he needs resting , I would expect to see a new keeper in fairly soon

He wouldn't have, and you know it.
He'd have been sub in the first game, not used
He'd have been sub in the second game and brought on for 5 minutes, and done nothing much
Then he'd have been an unused sub for the last two games

Then our fans would have said he's crap and we shouldn't have brought him back

Must've been squared. I'm miles away, down on South gangway G.

The ball was passed forward, only the defender between the scorer and the goal, blatantly offside. How the linesman missed it is beyond me. The third was similar but I felt the scorer was onside when the pass was made, although by then I was looking through my fingers :(

I think the fans have put up with enough of turning up in numbers week in week out and been served up that absolute shambles. Some people boo and some people don't. Neither deserved to be criticised though. The only thing I never get is why people should sit there and clap like seals just so it doesn't knock a players confidence. If players can't handle the pressure they're in the wrong game and they're certainly at the wrong club

At last!!!! He gives his all!! He hasn't hid, played when injured tries his hardest! If he ain't good enough then its down to the management to see it! George won't stop trying!! Pity some of the outfield players cannot say that!!!

The fans did not cost us the game, the players on the pitch did.

The abuse thrown at Long is ridiculous, stupid and out of order. However, if you can't play when you're getting stick you shouldn't be playing football. Keepers need to be totally determined, loud and not afraid to deck players to get to a ball.

I think this has always been his failing, he comes across as a bit introverted and to be blunt, a bit of a fanny. He's too quiet, and seems to lack confidence. In all the games he's played I've never yet seen him bollocking his defence and it's not like they haven't given him cause too.

Goalkeeper is a unique role in the team and every mistake is a potential disaster and the spotlight focus's on you like no other position. It's essential that you believe in yourself, have a bit of swagger and let everyone know your there.

The second goal tonight, once he'd made up his mind to go, he should have sprinted out, took the ball the man and everything, including our centre half if he'd got in the way. The fact that he hesitated, cost us the goal and he was wholly to blame. That said, he probably knew that immediately, without all the jeering from our own fans, which was absolutely disgraceful, unnecessary and ultimately, self defeating.

A large proportion of the fans on the kop were a disgrace tonight. You don't boo and mock your own. Last night was the only time I've felt ashamed to be a blade.

'The fans were a disgrace', 'Ashamed to be a Blade', I hear that cack a lot. Anybody who's ashamed to be a Blade isn't one. You're not a Blade. You're a soft little soul who really and truly should be trying your luck with the rest of the old ladies in shirts following the other lot over at the sty, that's assuming you're a football fan.

I've seen some horrendous incidents following my team over the years, seen us fight each other on the kop, God knows I've seen us in division four but I've never been ashamed to be a Blade.

I find it incredibly sad that some of you call yourself Blades, I think you really should take stock if the situation and if you still feel ashamed either man up enough to say 'this is too distressing for me', or get a little bit brave and say something in 'real life' or take up knitting. Although I'm pretty sure the when one of the old dears at the knitting club drops a stitch in their knit two pearl one you'd be pretty ashamed all over again so maybe not. Maybe you just like to feel ashamed, I don't know, it's all a bit alien to me.

I've read some Bollox in my time but it hasn't taken long (no pun intended) for the fans to get the blame.

Can The admins box these folk off to their own forum somewhere.

You should never feel ashamed to be a Blade. Perhaps you think the players representing?? our great club at times put in shameful inept performances, but thats the playing staff/management. They are not the club. I always feel proud to call me and my own Blades when we are out and about or overseas.

No problem -we've signed Grant.

Haven't we?
i daren't look in the rumours section mate. it sounds like another Dan Burn, McFadzean, Morsy job to me

post of the season nomination
George mate.. ship up or ship out. .it really is that simple.. personally i think he has got off 'lightly' due to his club connections.. otherwise he'd have been hanged from the nearest lamp post.

Folks are fucked off, patience is wearing thin, boredom kicking in, same old shit players not giving a shit, same tactics, same results, no signs of progress, players not getting any better after 100+ games, time and money being given to the club with no reward, no excitement, no goals, no chances, no players to get you off your feet, 6 years in this league quickly turning into 7 and an inability/refusal to sign players that will take us back to the championship and you think our fans are a disgrace?

Our fans are fantastic. Sadly they are becoming more and more disillusioned.

Whatever the performance of Long, the morons at the back of the kop last night were a disgrace to the club.

It was totally embarrassing. Braindead the lot of them.

If you were one of them, then you weren't in the minority at thinking Long was playing bad, but your were in the pathetic way you showed it. Cringeworthy pricks the lot of you. I bet your the same sort who say we have parasites within the club, well for me, your type of 'supporter' are the real parasites.

Oh for fans of yesteryear.

Our own ?
What have they done to be considered our own ?

Long might have been a boyhood fan and I do not like the fact that he's getting booed.
But the blind stupidity that some of these morons have that it only happens at our club, and our fans are the worst in the world is bleedin pathetic.

If clubs like Forest, Wendy, Leicester, Norwich, Wolves, Leeds, Charlton, Man City and Sunderland had stayed in this League for six years there'd have been murders going on

The fans of those clubs believe that they are better than that, they wouldn't accept it and they haven't been brainwashed into accepting the totally embarrassing shit that our so called fans have accepted as the norm

It's pathetic and it's embarrassing to be associated with them, bunch of non ambitious morons the lot of 'em.
Shit life, shit lifestyle, shit job and expect nothing but shit in every aspect of their lives.
There's too many of this lot supporting this club because the club has done absolutely zero to attract enough successful people with some ambition and bolox to support them.
And boy, don't the board of directors know it.
They deliver what the average half wit that supports this club expects

So you think the way Long was treated by some last night was right?

No I don't, and I would never boo a player either

But anyone that thinks this would not be happening at any other club is away with the fairies

Some of these so called fans just want to slag our own fans off. WHO REALLY ARE OUR OWN!!!!
They can see the problem right there in front of their own eyes, but rather than have a single bad word said about their preshy weshy football club or one of it's preshy weshy players they look to slag something off that is totally blameless.

Play crap in the Third Division for Sheffield United and you will get a rocket up your arse, the day that stops is the day we might as well bulldoze the club to the ground

Well then they should stop making comments about our own fans being the worst fans in football then

Do they think they're doing any good standing there clapping for more of the same ?

Fans of other clubs would have enforced change by now instead of the pathetic Bigger Blade than you bolox which is all some of these morons seem to think is important

Let's all sit there silently and put up with the same old shit like good little boys. Yeah of course our fans are awful. That's why we had nigh on 20k average last season despite watching that rubbish. God if a few fans can't handle supporters venting their frustration they should probably stay away themselves because they're watching the wrong sport and it's full of divers opinions. Personally I don't have a problem with clappers or boo boys. People pay their money and their entitled to freedom of speech to be fair.

Yes, and I'm one of the "folks" you mention: a season ticket holder for 20 odd years who does the majority of aways. Showing a bit of class and common decency costs nothing, and the fans have to try and create a passable atmosphere at home games. Long was getting mocked and insulted at 0-0. The majority of the starting lineup were playing their third game at BL, and then there was the likes of Sharp and Brayford who are supposed to be fan favourites.

They were mocking at 0-0 - in the third home game of the season. Were in self fulfilling prophesy territory here. Agree with much of the rest of your post though.

If that was Kenny and Morgan they would have been arguing because they both wanted to get rid. Long is bollox yet all I seem to hear is what will it do to him if he's dropped, replaced etc fuck him the blades are more important than him. He's not solely responsible for how awful we are but he is a massive weak link and needs to be replaced ASAP.
Seem to remember Jim Leighton in goal for Man U, good keeper in scotland but after his fuck ups in the cup final fergie dropped him because his confidence was shot, just like Long, and the rest is history so they say, my point is like KON has said the "team is more important" not just an individual

What a difference 10 months has made!!!!

When I started this thread I was annoyed at the players lack of skill & heart. And annoyed at our fans for the way they singled out one of our own players.

Fast forward to now & every single 1 of the players has been immense, whether it be starting 11 or squad players & the fans have got behind the team in every game. Yes winning helps but even when we lost to Walsall you could see what it meant to everyone.

Too often we berate the players & fans but I want to post now what an amazing turnaround we made since that night. On and off the pitch.

thank god those fans booed our own players that night, it was only their anger that enabled Wilder to go our and replace long and hussy.

Hurrah for the booing blades

In a week where Arron Lennons (not a fan by any means) problems have surfaced, it does lay bare the pressures Players face.

As fans, I know we get to have our say on here, but it did start to get extreme with George.

FFS while wearing the Blades Shirt !!

I hope if we get this situation again, we temper it a little ... just a little
