Why do they leave 5-10minutes early, even when we're winning? I don't believe all the "to get out to the car and avoid all the traffic" etc, 5 minutes longer won't hurt that much, i leave at full time and it doesn't take me long to get home.

Hate it, about 500-600 fans left on the Kop 5minutes before the final whistle last night, and a further 200-300 got to the gangways and carried on watching, if your gonna get up early just go, don't stand at the gangway blocking everyone view around you, if you wanna watch the game, don't attempt to ho early.

Sometimes i understand leaving early in the cases of Fleetwood and Crewe, but when we're winning the lads deserve an applause on full time, not a half empty stadium.

They don't bother me half as much as those who arrive late (or return to their seats late after half time).

By and large, they leave in some sort of break in play and so I don't miss a deal as they exit the row. When they stream in late it happens when the game is ongoing and fucks everyone off as they struggle through.

............and after they have sat down they forgot that they didn't go to the toilet

Im always late but wait for a break in play before sitting down, makes much more sense to miss the first 5 mins and have an extra pint rather than miss the last 5 mins of the game which are often the most exciting.

Bloke on my row got up just before half time last night as we had a free kick in a dangerous position. As I sit in the Kop this involved me standing up and virtually climbing on my seat to let him past.
He stopped right in front of me to watch the free kick being taken but moved on when I suggested "keep moving pal"

There's the rub though Ted. Most are just bombing up the steps and onto their row with no concept of what is happening on the pitch and thus interrupt at random.

Fortunately, as we haven't scored in the first 10 since 1975 it hasn't caused me to miss a goal.

I guess its not as much of a problem at the back as everyone comes down the steps and are looking at the pitch by default

Good point Ted.

I generally sit on row Y and always enter from the back (form an orderly queue for that one) whilst plenty seem to approach from below. Guess half way(ish) is the worst of both worlds!

Why do they leave 5-10minutes early, even when we're winning?

Because they are helping their 79 year old grandmother out of the ground who isn't as nifty on her pins as she used to be and gets shoved and tutted at by impatient people on the stairs when leaving as the whistle goes off....

Next question.

Cos it's a trek for me often stay as long as I can to soak up the atmosphere - then go for a beer
Can't understand leaving a match early. Summat might happen

So you chuck her out too early and she misses that last minute winner?
How cruel Linz, how cruel?

We've got 4 in the middle of a row that arrive late, go to half time early, come back late and leave early, to make matters worse they've started coming back in ones and twos. Tbh I can't for the life of me imagine why they bother coming.

You grumpy bastard.

That said I do get it.

My favorites, however, are the complete arse-holes who come in 5 minutes late smelling of beer. They shout their fucking heads off [so my ear holes are bleeding] and then fuck off to the toilet after 25 minutes before they piss their pants.

Yes, I am a grumpy old bastard.

Up the fucking Blades x

Obviously, it's each to their own. But last night they were streaming out in their hundreds before the end. And I don't get it either. Also I can't believe there are that many escorting their poor old mum/gran/grandad etc etc out of the ground either.

Apparently you can now hire elderly grandmothers to take into the ground with you, so as to give you a reason to leave early.

It's one of the great scandles of our time.

Not everybody lives within a five mile radius of the ground. I've been to night games and had to leave early because not doing so means I'd miss a train or bus. For years I lived two hours away from Bramall Lane, and only had public transport to rely on. You tend not to mind missing the last 5-10 minutes of a game when the alternative is miss the last bus and end up walking miles in the dark.

I think you must sit near me.

Got a bunch of lads near me that almost always turn up 20-30 minutes after KO, leave about 5 minutes before HT, turn back up 5 minutes after 2nd half KO and then leave 5-10 minutes early.

How would you know?!?

You should have been in your seat until the final whistle!!

I hope you wasn't leaving early!!

I think it was more down to the performance that some left early perhaps. Still rather suprised that many were going well before injury time was even mentioned.

Why shouldn't people leave when they want, they've paid their money and its their choice? Each to their own its a free country (ish)
I don't think anyone's questioning that. Some people like to attach electrodes to their nipples too, and they are free to do so. Good luck to them, but it won't stop me thinking its fucking weird.

Leaving with 5 minutes to go robs people of often the most exciting part of the match. I also, personally, find it cringeworthy to watch fellow Blades evacuating the ground and seemingly abandoning the team so as to avoid a 5 minute queue.

As you say, its their choice. But I'm free to think it's strange and disappointing.

Fair enough, that's what is good about communities, we all are able to have different views and opinions. I have a cast iron rule, I leave when we are three nil down, I can only take so much dispondancy. Not left early for ages thankfully.
