False position

Only game that really pissed me off was Watford away. We were meek against what I thought was a team there to be taken. Never really went there with any conviction. Tbf, we've been alreight since so I'll forgive em that one.

I was really disappointed after Boro as we should have beat them. There was a lot of positivity on here saying as long as we win at home and draw away we will be promoted, I don’t believe this at all, to be automatic promotion you have to win a lot of your away games, loads of draws are no good for the top two. If we had drew the last 3 away games for instance we would be joint 4th now, we won them and are clear at the top, away wins equal promotion..

3 away wins out of 6 is superb considering we haven't properly played well once

I think it demonstrates a significant gulf in class

Today was probably the best away performance overall because defensively we barely missed a beat, despite allowing them numerous good positions in the 1st half. And I rate PNE as above average

But we didn't. Because we're fuckin good

There's a song in there somewhere

To the tune of he's our striker he's our number nine...

We dint lose because we're fucking good
I don't refer to mates as bud
Drew wi Luton even though we were shite
Now fuck off cos I'm drinking Miller Lite

Get the fuck in 👊👊👊

The best indication for me is that we've played 6 out of the 10 games away from home.

Agree…that’s the most significant factor,

We’ve always been good at home…even last season we won most of our home matches.
It’s our away form that has been the problem which has lead to a lack of confidence when playing away.

Therefore 3 consecutive away wins not even conceding a goal will do us the world of good.
We still have loads of players out injured but the lads must be buzzing and super confident.

Think the difference this season is we can be playing poorly but still win because we have some high quality
players who can score a goal from nothing, so we’re always dangerous.

They played some nice stuff and if they could finish would have got a draw at least same with Swansea
Can’t see that with some of the games coming up after the break

Only on a Blades forum could we be top by 3 points and “in a false position”.

What a set of self-entitled twats we’ve become.
Well now, the analytics does seem to support the statement. From experiential 3-6-1, and from before the Swansea game (a game his model would count as a draw)...

So on his model we should have win two fewer games Sunderland and Hull at a guess) and lost two more (Boro and Luton at a guess).

We are overperforming on both goals scored and conceded.

A correction may come - or, it may be that the quality we have means the overperforming is sustainable.

His scatter graphics have us comfortable as one of the top sides.

We haven’t even started yet

Things have gone for us away - some woeful finishing alongside us taking our chances and the home teams , as in yesterday , making bad mistakes at the back .

At home we are devastating - away we play well and ok and poorly in equal amounts but recently things have gone for us and we will all take it

I think it’s a really poor division - with our squad members to come back , hopefully in the near future , to bolster heckys options, along with the start we have had and the home game catch up to come - then we have the best chance ever to get promoted .

As Hecky has said - we have gathered points at an amazing rate since he took over so it’s not a fluke

Fair points, very well made

Played them at the worst time, they’re good players have now levelled off. They had that first game of the season momentum with a sold out & high expectancy home crowd. They’ve sold a couple of players & nearly sold their other two players (who have seemingly downed tools since that happened)

Of course it is, had we not employed the Shirecliffe Sniper then DAVIES, BOGLE, CLARK, J ROBINSON, STEVENS, OSBORN, COULIBALY and JoC would have been available to stop us dropping the 7 points...

I think that table just proves expected goals is a bollocks metric. If you have quality strikers and defenders you would expect to score more and concede less than teams with lower quality players. Goal difference is usually a good indicator of league position and ours is much better than anyone else's.

Anti-euphoria blade here.
After 10 games last year WBA were top with 22pts and a goal difference of +12.
How did that turn out?
Just saying, we need to keep our feet well and truly on the ground.

Huh! Why not cancel Christmas and tell us Paddington isn't a real bear while you're at it? 😪
