He has done a job this season but a lot of peoples opinions or based on previous versions of Bill

His finishing this season has been poor and that’s backed up by the stats 5 in 25 in the league for a striker who plays almost every minute isn’t great

Correct it was a great finish vs pboro but I can’t think of another like that this season and he proceeded to miss a sitter later on

People think I have an agenda against him I don’t he’s a blades legend , I have an agenda for the blades winning

The bast majority are bias towards sharp because he is a blade 🤷‍♂️
I love billy

But he does get the benefit of the doubt

As has been said - he has played because he is fit and available compared to the rest - we are judging him against a very low bar

His general finishing has been below par as has his recent all round game but he has a knack of scoring some important goals - he has also missed some very clear cut chances that could have influenced games in our favour before they turned to defeats / draws.

No one has stepped up to challenge him - if they had I doubt he would be in the team

The invite and opportunity has been there for the others . Mousse hasn’t stepped up , Mcburnie hasn’t and Brewster started to . Didz bless him does his best but also isn’t the answer.

For me the reality lies somewhere between fellowfields view and the pro billy posters

How does Billy manage to keep so fit?
He’s ten years older than many of the squad so should in theory be using a Zimmer frame (almost), yet he seems to be one of the fittest players at the club.
Does he have a lifestyle that contributes to his general, overall fitness?
Should he be appointed as the fitness coach, or at least ‘lifestyle coach’?

I think you also have to consider the alternatives.

We know McGoldrick couldn't hit a barn door if he was stood inside it. So he isn't a valid alternative to Billy.

McBurnie is not fit and if the way we're going to measure is non-penalty goals per appearance, his most recent is 1 every 16 or last year 1 every 25. Bogle has better and he plays at Wing back.

There started to be encouraging signs for Brewster but he's now crocked.

So, with N'Diaye in the no 10 role and Mousset tucking into his 3rd 10" margarita, it leaves Jebbo with his 9 in 23 or you are back to Sharp.

I do agree that Billy has missed some chances I expected him to score - the header off the long throw at Derby, the 1 v 1s at Peterborough and Blackburn just a few examples. But I don't see others in the squad who would have taken those.

That's not to say they can't contribute between now and May but let's not st least pretend that anyone is being unjustly overlooked for 1 of two places in lieu of Billy.

Not sure Ndaiye will start if not fully fit

Agree

Don’t think anyone is being overlooked unjustly - they haven’t been viable alternatives as we both seem to be saying - I wish there was

But then again, isn't every team in the division looking for a goal scorer?

Not exclusively our problem!

I do think we have options who can become solutions. We seem to be better equiped to get the best out of players now than before Hecky took over. So maybe all players will be better goal threats now that the strategy had moved away from passing for passing's sake!

 So you want Sandra to start because Norwood and Hourihane can't tackle?
Yep! that'll fix it
Norwood is weak and a bit light weight but he's not a tart, he will put his foot in. I can't really think of him bottling challenges.

Shithouse Billy Sharp scores another goal from OPEN PLAY and FallowfieldBlade is crying into his Dad's spunk rag again.

Billy sharp was very good tonight Ndlovu

Best he’s played all season that second half 👍

----In goal Premier League WES-----

Bogle ------ Bash ----- Egan--------J robinson --- RND

----Sandy Burger -------------- Norwood--------

-----------------------Ndiaye-------------------

-----------Mcburnie------------Jebbison------

Start of a huge huge 6 weeks something mental like 12 games in 6 weeks, we could either be in a automatic push or bang mid table with nowt to play for by the end of that

Its a shame Brewster will be out it wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't play again this season just as he was showing what he was all about , its a massive chance for Jebbo & Mcburnie to show that they are the future of this club Didz & Sharp aren't as they have a combined age of about 80

Once again Sharp should not be starting for us he doesnt offer anything bar a good finish now and again as shown V Pboro last week he missed multiple chances and slows down attack's every time - JEBBO & OLI MAC up front for me

Also berge has to play Yes Norwood has played well and houirihane has looked half decent recently but that doesn't wipe out the 6 months of dross under Slav the pair of them couldn't tackle a fish supper between them its all well and good against Pboro who sat off us and let us play

Id bring enda back if he is fit and play robinson unless Davies is back

If MGW is back then I would play him ahead of Ndiaye but he doesn't deserve to be dropped ATM
So Billy doesn’t offer anything eh?

Though you would still drop him for the next game ....

Does he run in behind defenders - no. Watch the movement on our first goal then hang your head in shame.🤭
