There is more ground to cover from RWB compared to RCM.

My concern is that his lack of pace would be exposed if someone gets the run on him.

I’m not sure why everyone thinks he is slow he isn’t rapid no but he looked pretty fast to me breaking forward the other day

Maybe but they’d have to run a lost further to get round him and won’t be able to get the ball off him

So who should we play at Wing back if all of them are injured and basham also ?
I'd sooner see Seriki or Starbuck chucked in for a game, or even Goode and stick Gordon at the back.

Don't see the point in neutralising Berge or MGW (as some have suggested for RWB), who were standout performers and biggest threat at the weekend.

Play your best players in their best positions.

Because there is no one else who can play there

Hourihane is left footed how is that a better idea 🤷‍♂️

If you look at the best Right backs they are all the best players on the ball athletic and players who can beat a man all attributes Berge has IMO

He was great Saturday but if needs must and we have no RB’s fit
Personally (arguments around attributes and the fact he doesn't exactly seem to be a natural fit as a tough tackling full back aside), I'd suggest after all the discussion on Berge over the past couple of years, having finally found a position and system where he can influence play, use his talent and having just had his best game in a Blades shirt, it may not be a great idea to then shift him again, let alone to full back. Personally.

No im just saying if there is no right backs which looks like there could be tonight

I wouldn't move berge either but ndaiaye is more than good enough and should be playing

Needs must if we have no one who can play Right back

Id also play fleck at left wing back if we had no left backs for tonight aswell

Yes. And I will stand by my opinion. He's a bit of a spectator in defence. Outside of our third he's great, and that's not a problem, but to give him an actual defensive role would be dangerous. Lad gets enough abuse as it is.
fellowfields - I can honestly see your logic and i dont think you're trying to be a wum on this point but i agree 100% with this

Defending.

Berge has the defensive attributes of a smoked kipper.

May as well just use the corner flag.
I wouldn't worry about his lack of marking, heading, tackling and positioning ability, I'd be more concerned that he'd be stuck upfield given his highly vaunted pace, mobility, stamina and determination.

In decades to come, when Wednesday are massive on a galactic scale, they'll be using Fallowfield in schools as an example to teach children about the historic phenomenon of internet trolls.

Utter tosh he's played as a defensive midfielder in the champions league

Whilst Berge may have the physical qualities to play RWB, he is lacking in 2 fundamentals...tackling ability and heading. He seems to have the Jostein Flo disease whereby he his 6ft odd, should be winning most headers but looks scared everytime the ball goes near his head. Case in point, at most corners he stands on the edge of the area...which with his size he should be getting stuck in.

He gets abuse because a lot of our fans are brain dead morons who cant formulate an opinion unless the person sat next to them(proably on the KOP) has the same one

He has played as a Defensive midfielder in the champions league and for Norway so clearly he can tackle

Defensive midfielder is a million miles away from an effective wingback

These guys cover more ground than anyone

Berge can’t do this he dues to have the mobility and speed - I’ve not seen it anyway

As has been said

Using him effectively in the final third seems to be his bag

TBF to the guy that's getting crucified here... If you had to pick an emergency RWB for one game. Berge probably makes sense compared to the rest of the midfielders (regardless of him not being great defensively or aerially).

That's assuming Seriki isn't trusted btw.

Anyway, we'd probably just play 4 at the back if we're that short.

Surely just play Seriki at right back rather than square pegs in round holes. We need to keep that trio in centre mid tonight for the break always

Is that the campaign where they got one point from a possible 18, and didn't score a single goal (but none of that mattered because Klopp complemented Berge one time)?

It looks like we've finally find a role he could flourish in. It would be madness to throw him into a strange position, where only you can imagine a single attribute that makes him suitable for it.

1 more point than we have ever got in our entire history though

Im not saying that im saying if we had to if there was nobody else fit

Yet he gets pelters from some Norwegians for being weak and his champs league spell was short and does not take into account the support he received in midfield from teammates. I like Berge btw, think he has much more in his locker, but only in a central advanced position, not even close to being a wing back, and thats coming from me who played left and right wing back for 3 teams over a 10 year period.

Same

Although not the wing back bit - i would have been fkd after 10 mins as i was a very industrial Centre Half
