Think the "sold" part is a bit much. There's a fair few given away! For example, I expect that figure to include all of the 500 that were given to the Hallamshire and Northern General staff. Would guess more businesses locally got given a few too? I don't see Man U bringing too many either so that figure will be mostly Blades, which is great - but may be a shock to a few of the team.

That said, it is great to see the Youth team supported so greatly.

Conclusive proof that our fans want to see young players in the first team, and not a rag-bag collection of overpaid journeymen, has-beens, never-were's and never will be's.

It's ok getting youth players in the first team. But only if they're good enough. They may be ok at youth level but transferring that to league football is a massive step up!

The enthusiasm shown by the fans gives an indicator to just how starved of decent football we've been this season.

Credit to them all

Take note Kev.

But the vast majority of the existing first team are self-evidently rubbish! Hardly a step-up to their shamefully low standards is it?

But are they BETTER, or just equals?

It's hard to know, alot are not tested in the Pro game yet, some may not even get that chance. We have to get the right mix of experience mentoring the younger lads, at the moment though I don't think we have enough of the right experience mentoring them, which is another matter all together and is another reason we shouldn't rush every youngster.

On the topic at whether they have been sold or given away it's fantastic support for the youngsters.

I wouldn't be surprised if Man U bring a couple of thousand.

Sky Sports 1 is showing the 2nd leg of the play offs that night and ESPN currently lists women's international football. I refuse to subscribe to MUTV.

Thats what they said about the team that won the Northern Intermediate League with Woodward, Badger, Jones and Birchenall.

I got a call from SUFC yesterday regarding pitch
displays etc as they have
sold over 20,000 tickets so they are treating it as a normal match day.
Man u are bringing 500 apparently...

Should be a great atmosphere!!

Heard today that another 500 were available for Hallamshire and Northern General staff, taking the total up to 1000.

I hope everybody going buys a pie and drink otherwise it's a game that'll be causing a huge loss on the books!

Just hope the extra crowds work in favour of our team. Maybe we are using it as an opportunity to see if some are ready for the next step up with the Development Squad? No point them being kept on if they can't make it beyond there and into a first team enviroment.

just got a txt from a mate at the lane, sold over 27,000 now!

Love to be going to this, but i won't be able to get back to london that late, neither do i fancy paying a ton for a rush hour commute the next morning.

I'm just picking up this handy stick to beat our club with here, but haven't we missed a (little) money-spinning trick here by giving them away?

I'm back in Manchester next week for exams, bit gutted I'll be missing this. Can't really do the away leg the week after either as I have an exam the next morning so need to spend the night before cramming.

Top effort with the attendance though!

got the text about an hour ago and Id imagine that article was written last night so I think the 27K is highly likely. Either way its a fantastic attendace

You're right Agana it's a farce. We could have charged £10 adults and kids a fiver. Even if we'd only got about 5,000 we'd have still made more money and surely that's the most important thing for the club rather than having 25,000 there. And everyone there would probably have been a True Blade.

Unfortunately we seem to be showing some long overdue ingenuity on our ticketing policy on this game and we even risk getting some 'new fans' to the Lane and creating a feelgood factor in an awful season. Shame on the club. I hope we learn our lesson from this madness of trying something a bit dynamic to attract fans to matches.
