FA Cup - Does it deserve our respect?

I understand the sentiment, but we've got a very long, tough season ahead. Tiredness, suspensions, injuries will take their toll later on. Our squad is ok, but we don't have the same quality in depth.
Doing that will be just one more match to add to tiredness / injuries.
We should have enough strength/quality in reserve players to put out a decent team with enough to beat Flyde, unfortunately as seen earlier in the season we haven't!

Now a PL club currently sitting 7th in the league ought to mean we have a realistic chance of reaching the latter stages of the competition

The priority however should be and always will be maintaining our PL status

The next few weeks however will tell us where we are in terms of points tally and likely status. If we keep picking up points and at the same time get through the third and perhaps fourth round ties, then we should step up and treat it with the respect the competition deserves. If our form drops off without reaching or nearing our target of points then bin the cup.

Last season worked out well but if our reserves win next month, do we approach the fourth round differently, if we’re up to say 32+ points?

Put out the reserves for now, they need game time. We've got a small core of players that Wilder relies on and we don't want to risk them getting injured/suspended. If we reach beyond round five then we could consider going for it.

Yes. Absolutely. We are way & above where I thought we would be. We’re not going down. The question is do we go for the FA Cup or go all out for 4th place??!!

Yes.

We'll close the Kop again for the 4th and 5th round games against Derby and West Brom before getting to the semi finals claiming "this has always been a special competition for this football club..."

250 loyalty points per round.....
It’s a yes from me.
We could have been in the quarters of the league cup.

I’ll be there regardless of whether we open the kop or not. Chance for Sharp and Robinson to fill their boots.

If anyone has something better to do at that particular time then fair enough but I’d be interested to know what

I’ll be travelling home from Athens on cup final day. Having waited over 55 years to see my team in a cup final, it’s bloody typical it will happen this season.

All get yourselves a ticket for 3rd round day and force bloody mick rooker to open the kop!!!

Dunno. What did I put on the last thread we had about it a week or so ago

Not being funny mate, but why do you think anybody should bother to read your opinion, when you patently can't be arsed to consider theirs?

I accept not everybody can join a thread when it starts, but surely the decent thing to do is to look/see what everyone else is saying first?

Is it just me?

I read plenty of it mate, just didn't read all six pages. Jeez.

Why on earth not? You shouldn’t have anything better to do. Outraged

I’d love us to win the FA Cup, imagine the pigs reaction to us roaming around town in an open top bus on a sunny day in May.

I'd like to see some of our backup players playing in our system with other first team players.

.........................Verrips
........Basham Jagielka O'Connell
K Freeman.... Norwood......... Osborn
.............. Ravel............. Fleck
............................Freeman
......................... Sharp

Something of that ilk, I don't want to see a complete overhaul but it has served us well in the league thus far.

Assuming we get some more good results this month, I’d like us to take it seriously – starting with Wilder making it clear publicly that we giving it a go and putting out a strong-ish side for the Fylde game. Get a decent crowd in, take it seriously, see what happens.

I can’t take the fa cup seriously. It’s that dull silver colour and then daft handles that does it for me

Oh sorry do you mean the competition? I though you meant the trophy

In 3 seasons of remarkable league success , we have done nothing in the cups.
If this is the way CW wants to play things , who are we to argue ?

Well I think we should. It’s that beautiful grey shine and amazing handles that does it for me every time

Yeah, agree but we’ve got to play Didsy if he hasn’t scored by then. Surely he can get one against a conference side?
