Open the whole ground, offer extra loyalty points, give out 2 coupons with the ticket, one guaranteeing a ticket for the semifinal, and one giving first priority for the final. In the case of Foxy the coupons come with a note saying 'Do not give this to your child for safe-keeping'.

It’s says it’s on Saturday on the fixture list on Google though already so I assumed it was confirmed
The broadcasters haven't picked their games yet. I think at the minute every fixture will be scheduled for 1500 Saturday.

Should always take it serious and aim to win regardless of the competition and/or opposition. Point blank period.

There are teams in all leagues which get disproportionate investment but it doesn’t guarantee success. Fylde it is true have invested heavily with ex blades Mark Yeates, Andy Taylor and Philliskirk on their books. However they sit a lowly 18th in the National League. Solihull Moors are another team with little tradition but loads of investment and sit 3rd. The league is lead by a well run club in Barrow who to my knowledge aren’t a moneybags club. Long and the short is; investment doesn’t guarantee success but supporters of all clubs would like it if they can get it.

I didn’t realise Andy Taylor plays for them. He was an interesting player. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player go AWOL as much as him. He used to seem to forget what position he was playing in. It was like he was lost and kept drifting all over the place. I hope he plays against us!

If they gave out extra couple of hundred loyalty points for going to a bobbar game like this, i reckon there would be a good few thousand more attending.
personally think they should charge only around a £5/£3 maximum and anyone attending gets 200 +points
its not like we are in dire need of the funds from a facup 3rd round tie especially if we stay up!

Matches like tgis are usually allocated 150 points - as they have been for years.

They have been useful matches over the years to get tickets to build up loyalty points ....

Three ex Blades in the fylde squad , Andy Taylor , Danny Phiiliskirk and Mark Yeates so i will be there for this one to give them a cheer .
Mark Yeates needs to be abused ,just like he abused Utd when he was here. He took the piss out of Utd and Micky Adams ,an absolute wanker along with a couple others.

Yes, having been brought on to take a penalty. Wank bastard.

Bit of a sliding doors moment of what happens if we didn’t sub him on for Montgomery. We scored every other penalty till the fateful Simonsen effort. I think after Taylor, Porter scored the 5th, and then Quinn was next up.

Would Quinn have been in the original 5 had Set-piece Specialist* Andy Taylor not been brought on?

Would Monty have been there instead and scored, unexpectedly, in the same way the like of Collins, Doyle, Hill and others did?

Would Lowton, released from the pressure of knowing he was being followed by Andy Taylor (yes, bloody hell, Andy “hasn’t kicked a ball yet today” Taylor) calmly slot home his penalty immediately before?

Similarly, if Mark Yeates hadn’t been one of a number of players that combined appalling performances with an appalling attitude the season before, would be have been relegated?

Whenever I think of these now it’s with fond memories, without all of these events we wouldn’t have got Chris Wilder.

As a blade who's watched some epic Fa cup encounters from back of the kop I still love the cup but can we risk any 'non league' challenges (no offense Fylde) on our first team squad? Probably not.
If our reserve team can't beat them then fair enough we don't deserve a run.
If we're on or about 30 pts by Jan though then fuck it, let's go for it.

I expect some of the Fylde players have proper jobs too so it really should be on a satdi. Sunday paper round was my biggest earner until I was 16.
I agree it should be on a saturday, but there's no way to do it with us playing Liverpool on the Thursday

So the question is, is it worth going or should I just put the price of the ticket on an away win. Let me know Chris.

Like most Conference sides they are full time now. They actually went full time the level below.

As for the squad with the games in the run up of course we are going to play subs and people not making the squad. 20 million quid striker starting. Shambles.

No league games for the 4th round but the 5th is midweek this year.

I LOVE the FA Cup and have so many good memories of cup games. During my time watching the Blades, we’ve done nowt in the league (until now), but had some great times in the cup.
I’m a romantic. I’d hate to see the FA Cup continue to decline. I’d love for us to be one of the clubs to bring some of the romance back by winning it.

FA Cup, Does it deserve our respect?............................ Absofuckinlutely yes. We should be putting a strong team out not necessarily our 1st eleven but not the youngsters like Liverpool did the other night, we owe that much to AFC Fylde and their supporters and £15 tops isn't going to hurt anyone. One of the reasons I think we should be opening the Kop at least, letting our fans sit in their normal seats would have encouraged more to turn out for this game I think and it would improve the atmosphere even if the kop was half empty. I hope this game gets a decent crowd to put some money back into the lower leagues. Please don't let Sheffield United become Premier League snobs it is not many seasons ago when we were desperate to play Man Utd in the cup and get a much needed cash boost and a good day out for our fans.
Also for all Blades fans we haven't seen our team win any silverware so as we are doing well at the moment isn't it about time we did give one of the cups a right good go with a team with a realistic chance of actually winning it, we cannot be considered plucky underdogs any longer not with this set of players.

This is a list of winners over the last thirty years. In that time only three clubs outside the top six have won it. It is not a cup we have much chance of winning.
We won’t be outside the top 6 will we? 🤔

I agree this could be an opportunity to win our first silverware in a long long time. If we're on or about 30 pts by January I say fuck it and go all out.

Without reading six pages, I think we should take it seriously. We’re looking relatively comfortable in the PL as January hits and common sense suggests just four more wins will see us home. So why not give it a go? At BL, we can beat anybody, especially if they put out a weak team - either through personnel or attitude. I want us to give it a proper go, get to the SF and see where we end up. Making a Final is often good enough for Europe too.

I care about finishing in the Prem for next season (hopefully comfortably). Nothing else matters this season.

Not being funny mate, but why do you think anybody should bother to read your opinion, when you patently can't be arsed to consider theirs?

I accept not everybody can join a thread when it starts, but surely the decent thing to do is to look/see what everyone else is saying first?

Is it just me?

There is no one still alive who last saw Sheffield United win serious silverware. That should change and end the 93 year wait and stop Wednesday going on about the Rumbelows Cup.

I'm not sticking up for the Wombwell lad, but it's sometimes not so easy or necessary to read every post before posting your own opinion. I mostly do read the previous posts myself, but it depends how many there are! Sometimes I just scan a few of them, to get a gist of what's being said. Sometimes I leap straight in with an opinion on something and then wished I'd kept my gob shut and read all the previous posts!🤭

Who remembers the reaction on here after Barnet?
If we lose I expect it will be more of a 'meh' moment this time around.
FWIW CW will again play the fringe players. There will be no way that he will risk our first 11.
