Our match against Barnet will be played on Sunday 6th January at 2pm. There are only ten 3rd Round games that will be played on the Saturday at 3pm. Why do the FA show such little respect for the Cup? The FA Cup 3rd Round is one of the big moments in the football calendar, but when the kick offs are at different times it starts to lose its magic.

Unfortunately the FA cup lost it's magic a long time ago. Once Man utd and the likes started fielding weakened teams or didn't even bother entering. Now even mid table prem teams, who have no fear of relegation can't be arsed.
I used to love the FA Cup, but I'm afraid it has no magic left to lose.

It used to be one of the big moments in the football calendar. It's now on a par with a pre season super cup for the Premier teams. The magic was lost years ago.

I just see it now as an extra game /two games extra I'd rather players had free weekends to rest and give promotion their all

Even fourth round day now has league fixtures instead of being left blank. There really are some arses running the F.A. these days, it’s all money and no class.

Don’t even think it’s the weaker teams argument. The money in the Premier League and to an extent the Championship means it’s far too valuable to overlook. Unfortunately it’s going to take priority big time over the FA Cup and it’s replicated in the media because the Premier League is everything nowadays. Sad times.

Was going to post exactly the same thing.

When you see teams like Burnley fielding weakened teams in Europa league qualifiers there’s little chance the magic of the Fa cup survives in its current format.

Back in the day the Fa cup, cup winners cup & even the league cup was a huge thing. Nowadays winning the league cup is met with derision.

To show as many games as possible on TV, to increase the money available so there’s more prize money and a bigger opportunity for small clubs to get a televised game and the additional revenue it brings.

The money is nowt for the big clubs, and unless you have a good run, not that much for a championship club but for the lower league clubs, it can make a big difference.

It’s not ideal but it helps to redistribute some of the wealth in the game to the smaller clubs and it’s a chance for people who can’t afford Sky to watch some live football on TV.

Along with the first game of the season and Xmas fixtures the third round used to be one of the biggest fixtures in the football calendar & pull good attendances
The all about the money Premier League has destroyed the FA Cup as the clubs board rooms would rather finish 4th bottom of prem year in year out than actually see their team compete or even win a trophy .
Also Inevery round of the cup now there’s god knows how many live matches so a lot of the non regular attendees will opt for the arm chair rather than go to the ground
One day the big Sky Cash ballon will burst and then the fun will begin , unfortunately football has now sold its soul

unfortunately football has now sold its soul

Soul, heart and any other body parts worth a bob or two to a foreign broadcaster.

Gary Lineker will really earn his £750k (of tax payers money), by constantly repeating the 'magic of the cup' phrase. He might even find the odd 8 year old who actually believes it......

Times are a changing.

But tbh an hour earlier kick off isn't going to kill anyone, it's not the end of the world.

So does that mean the pigs play on saturday? = edit just checked and yes they play on saturdayat 12.30 pm alaong with 6 other matches kicking off at the same time - What the f is that about ? THey cant all be televised !

Unless a suitable prize is offered (Champs League or UEFA League place) teams will continue to disregard it especially if they're involved in either end of their respective leagues.

The FA Cup winner gets a place in the Europa League.

Aye, and that`s a poisoned chalice.
I wouldn’t have a problem with it. Getting in by finishing 7th is much worse as you have to play lots of qualifiers like Burnley did. I’d rather we only had five seasons in the PL, won a cup and played in Europe than spend fifteen seasons in the PL finishing 16th.

Oh Yeah the cup has lost it’s magic bla bla bla....untill you reach the semi, then you’ll be freaking out like every other Football fan in the country.
