Exiled blades next season

I'll be asking for kindly Blades to help me out next season when I (eventually) return from Gibraltar as I'll be back in the South of England and hoping to go to the London games.

Trust you know efinglongway who I believe was a ST holder in SW Wales this season and I would expect next. Think you'll find there are other exiled ST holders not far off your match day route, one I know near Evesham for example.

Don't know him but good to hear there are a few others down here...happy to share travel for company and to save some £.

What ought to be looked at, if home tickets are going to be so limited, is a buy-back scheme from the club - if you aren't using your season ticket for a particular match, you can sell the ticket back to the club so they can release the ticket for general sale.

Exactly the sort of thing I'd like to see except the risk shouldn't be on the club - you make your seat available but the club only pays if the ticket is sold. I can't get back to enough games to justify a season ticket but I'm still a supporter.

In terms of exiled fans getting tickets: if there's a will, there's a way. We've got a hardcore of between 500-1,500 who travel away but we've got 12-15k who have held season tickets for an extended period of time. That suggests that anywhere up to 90+% of season ticket holders don't go to away games; if you really want to get to an away game then it's not too difficult to find someone willing to let you use their points.

Yeah, I guess they could check the actual seats but at the end of the day, the money has been paid so why would they be that bothered. I'm sure most ST holders have lent their ticket out at some point and I suspect a fair chunk of people have got a ticket for someone else using their points, can't stop it and of course it helps people out sometimes.

I guess a team like Munich has a long waiting list for season tickets and feels they should go to people who attend every week.

As for lending tickets, I think they know to look out if someone's used a concession ticket they shouldn't have but not much else. As long as you aren't 30 and using an over-60's or kid's ticket you'll be fine.

I would guess there is a no-resale clause otherwise it would hit the club financially. I’m going to contact the club fo see if I can give back the seats for the home games I can’t get to; I wouldn’t want them to go unused if BDTBL is sold out. I’m not bothered about the money but supporters that have been there through thin and thinner shouldn’t be crowded out.

This is a tricky one, my mate is an Arsenal season ticket holder but hasn't been for 8 years, he just keeps renewing just so he has it whilst he has a few years off with his young family. The waiting list is years long and he tells me a lot of people do this and whilst some just 'lend' their tickets out, some don't. As ever, this is only a problem for us when demand outstrips the numbers but it's the same as loyalty points in a way, it becomes harder and harder for people to get on the ladder if the same people keep their place in the ST market and the same people have priority.

I've got a season ticket for my local 'soccer' team. Its done through Seat Geek and you can sell a ticket if you're not going to a game or transfer to someone free very easily. I suppose its a different set of circumstances though re supply and demand.

Paderborn season ticket holders phone up when they can't make it and the club then sells the ticket for that game. ST holders are not required to do this but are expected to. It worked really well in their one season in the Bundesliga.

I think Spurs have a similar scheme. Club takes an extra £5 to resell your ticket though.

Yeah, I saw that. I suppose there will be more on sale during the close season?
There will also be plenty of regulars who either cant justify or afford a season ticket who will struggle to get tickets for some games. It's difficult to see what the solution is.

They will go back on sale when the new price structure is in place.How many seats left for season tickets is an unknown, but they will be back on but more money.

That's why I have bought season tickets; it's a long commute from Belgium but I dont want to miss out, particularly the London games. It's expensive...but when do we live if not now?

I live in South Wales and I've got myself a season ticket for next season, my first since 2010 having moved away from the north. I've agreed to share it with a pal of mine who lives up north but who also can't make every game. I won't be able to make every game myself but I'd rather the seat is used when I'm not there and I can get some of the money back. I didn't want to risk not being able to see some of the big games at the Lane, and a season ticket is the best way of guaranteeing that.

It's difficult due to sky moving games, however if you can afford it, make sure you book flights well in advance. Even better if you're flexible and can fly return monday evenings, or sunday mornings.

I've spent as little as 20 euro return, but spent as much as 300 euro. Add in transfers both sides and it racks up.

I have two work mates the bought a Schalke 04 season ticket together, I think Hamburg Blade is correct about Bayern or at least they were talking about doing it.

Are you able to sell tickets to matches you're not attending?

If you won't have 'tickets' to sell. You'd be giving them your season ticket card. So, if it's your mate then maybe. Remember club doesn't officially allow it.
