This team, and the manager will revel in more games and quick turn around fixtures. The proof is in our recent resurgence. The more games we are involved in, with short breaks in between, has tested our depth as a squad, and we have proved our mettle.

We’d need a few extra players, not a billion pound investment. Is it a challenge? Of course. But so has everything else thats been achieved this last 4 years. I doubt Chris Wilders secretly hoping we miss out. Its not a given that teams just fall to bits if they play in Europe. Wolves are doing alright.

The travel and two games a week is an issue, fair do’s. But the schedule cant be anymore relentless than its been these last few weeks or even at times in the Championship.

Lets just keep enjoying the ride and see where we go.

Told him to worry about his own club. I want Sheffield United to go as far as they can. If Europe is too much then worst case scenario just play the youth team ffs. The prestige alone of European football will elevate the status of our club. Bitter jealous fucker.

We have never played in Europe in our 131 year history.

Everyone cites Burnley, Burnley played 6 games in Europe, they were out by the end of August.

How does that derail a season?

What almost got them relegated was having Joe Hart in the net, he played 19 games and conceded 34.

As soon as Heaton came back they went on a run.

I wouldn't put it down to Hart. I reckon what cost Burnley was playing reserves in the Europa. Two reasons - one - for the first time in his life, Sean Dyche told the players "this is too hard and we can't do it". Two - the players who had slogged their guts out to get there were not allowed to play.

At Christmas, they had discussions and meetings and all concerned agreed that what was past was past and it was time to buckle down. Heaton was a big improvement and the defence massively improved and they all got on with it.

Play your first team in league and cup - after all, you have 8 fewer games than last season anyway, which negates the tiredness argument - and enjoy the ride.

Over spending to cope with the extra games in the current COVID climate could be a negative. Getting into the European places will attract agents with players from higher up the football ladder. The last thing we need as a club is to risk future progression and stability by splashing too much cash in these uncertain times.

This may be the club's only opportunity to play in a European competition and if it's achieved I don't care what effect it may or may not have on next year's PL league position

We won't stay in this division forever, and if while we're at an historic high-point, if there's the chance to play in Europe or try to win a cup competition, that should be grasped, as that forms part of the club's legacy.

My arguments against making Europe are the following:

1. We would need to sign 5 or 6 players better than what we already have to be able to compete on both fronts and allow Wilder to make the changes he'd need each game to compete in the league and Europe. That would cost a lot of money in not only fees, but wages too. Money we don't yet have without risking the long term stability of the club.

2. If Wilder did bring in 5-6 players who could replace the existing players it could upset squad harmony and the balance we have in the team. We have a unique system that's taken McBurnie and Berge a while to get used to. Our success under Wilder has been keeping a team together and strengthening one or two positions at a time. Wholesale changes expecting new players to understand and play in our system could be our downfall.

3. The new season will kick off only a few weeks after this season ends. European qualification will resume in something like just two weeks after the season ends. Teams already competing in Europe now and next season will practically get no break. Teams qualifying for Europe next season will practically get no break. They are going to burn out next season, drop lots of points and fall down the league table. By not qualifying for Europe we can get a decent break, take advantage of others burning out and exploit this in the league in the hope of finishing higher next season.

That's just my take on it.

One more season in the Premier League, stability, slowly build a squad and team capable of competing on two fronts, a push for a domestic trophy and worry about Europe the season after for me please.

Is there actually any stats on teams being relegated after playing in Europe in the same season? Id be amazed if its more than 5%.

Qualifiers for next year will be 1 leg rather than the usual 2 so this will reduce the number of games slightly if we do finish 7th.

But what are we playing the game for if we dont want european football.

That's exactly my thoughts. We've been in the Premier League before, survived a few seasons in it under Bassett, won FA cups and the League (albeit in ancient times), but we've never qualified for European competition in the 65 years it's been going. I'd like to see us make history and go for it.

It’s always been my dream to watch us win the FA Cup and be in Europe. I used to think that was the only way into Europe for us.

I say go for it. This season would forever be the unforgettable time we got promoted and made Europe. Wolves seem to have done ok with a relatively small squad. Even if we were bottom next season with 5 games to go I think it's time I learned to stopwriting off our chances under wilder as I did after manure. This manager and team is really something special.
