Indeed, the same dictator that countless leaders of our country embraced over many decades.
Now lets see if our present leaders continue to embrace the Saudi royal family. because at the moment they are. If that regime were to start to crumble and its dictatorship start to fall at what point will they start to distance themselves from it.
Have you noticed the very careful language used so far towards the few friends we have in the middle east who have been effected by these popular uprisings? maybe as appossed to the language used towards Libyan leaders?

I'm curious, which dictators have you seen My Blair shaking hands with?
He has shook hands with Muburak and Gaddafi. All in the name of fighting the war on terror. Now please tell me which world leaders of any nation do you hold as so upstanding as they have guided their country on a moral crusade of peace love and harmony. Or maybe just maybe every leader of another nation will work for that nation rather than the perfect idealistic world you and everyone else would like to see.

Boo I have no time for world leaders anywhere. You told me above Blair had commited no criminal act and seemed like you were making him out to be some decent human being. I don't believe any leaders are "moral and upstanding". I said all politicians and that includes world leaders are corrupt, maybe that was a bit unfair on a few,but not many.
I've never met one yet (and yes i've met a few} who wasn't in it to make himself look good.
I don't know who else has embraced Gaddafi can you name them for me please pretty certain Thatcher didn't but don't know who the others were who did.
Anyway not going to post on this anymore as I think it's run it's course and we will just argue the toss till United win the league
I look forward to your brief match report tonight. Let's hope it's a win you're reporting on.

Will be interesting to see if the Tory peer gets a custodial sentence and is treated the same as have the other two guilty Labour MPs who have been sentenced.

Fingers crossed he is, hes a knob.

Or for the benefit of his friends and his type of people over the country's long term needs. If policies are being introduced at the behest of the people that paid for his successful election campaign then you have to wonder if it's really "what he thinks is right" or if it's just plain old corruption.

Yes, its clearly in the countrys "long term needs" to keep borrowing £450 million a day.

Hi ho, hi ho,
Its off to General Chat we go...

You have your judgement and me mine, so we'll agree to differ.
One point to back what i said up. Today on BBC News a piece about Ca Moron visiting Kuwait. The journalist introduced the report by stating that British governments had turned a blind eye over many many years to the autocratic and dictatorship societies in the middle east as a trade off for trade and security.
Oh and low and behold Ca Moron is travelling with uk arms manufactures who are showing their wares to the very dictatorships that Blair removed. Where does that put Ca moron on the moral ladder? But hey we could start again about WMD's and all that.
That bastard Hussain is dead and the Taliban is on the back foot and what are our soldiers for - to protect us and i thank god and their families for their sacrifice so I can watch my beloved Blades without looking over my shoulder.

Nice dodge.

Who is Ca Moron?

Are you sure about that?

As you dodged yourself, I don't see why I have a need to address your question. You're using another debate to divert from the one I raised. You think that neo-liberalism is for the long-term good of the country?

Depends what you mean by 'neo liberalism', Ive never heard two matching definitions of it. I dont know anyone on the right who calls themselves a neo liberal. It seems to be an empty term applied by people on the left which can translate as "whatever we dont like today", be it Milton Friedman or Hosni Mubarak.

If you want to ask a more precise question, do I think the coalition is good for the country, Id say yes. The current level of spending is out of control. You disagree. You would rather see us keep spunking money away. Its not a straw man at all though I can can see why youd want the get out.

That's not the question I asked though is it? If you want me to ask a more precise question, I'll do it. Do you think the sale of public services to private companies (for less than their trading value) improves services and ensures the safety of the economy?

Is that being done?

Its a stupid question. From the two links youve provided I cant see that public services are being sold to private companies for less than their trading value.

Let me guess; somebody got The Shock Doctrine for Christmas?

Not actually true. If you drop a 2p coin from the top of the Eiffel Tower the coin will not continue accelerating until it hits the ground. It accelerates until it reaches Terminal Velocity, the point at which the 2p coin has accumulated all the velocity it will and will accelerate no further. So, if a coin reaches Terminal Velocity after, say, 50 feet, a coin dropped from the top of the Eiffel Tower (1,063 ft) will hit the ground at the same speed, and, thus, as hard, as a coin dropped from the top of the Empire State Building (1,454 ft).

Thus, Mr Illsley would hit the ground as hard if he threw himself off the top of either. Just a thought.

What happens if you throw the coin as hard as you can downwards? Does it slow down to the point of terminal velocity?

What happens if you throw the coin as hard as you can downwards? Does it slow down to the point of terminal velocity?

Yes. You see, just as there is a downward force (gravity) acting on the coin, there is an upward force (drag) acting on it as well.

The velocity of a 2p coin at the point it is thrown will depend on the position of the coin. If it is thrown edge on then, and somehow manages to stay that way, then it will have a higher TV than if it is thrown face on.

Yes. You see, just as there is a downward force (gravity) acting on the coin, there is an upward force (drag) acting on it as well.

Or alternatively, no. The coin won't necessarily slow down. The drag is what causes the terminal velocity to be reached, otherwise it would carry on accelerating. It might not accelerate as much, but it won't actually slow down before it reaches terminal velocity, otherwise it would just have to speed up again to reach terminal velocity. The rate of acceleration slows - not the speed of the object falling.
Wikipedia said:
A free-falling object achieves its terminal velocity when the downward force of gravity (Fg) equals the upward force of drag (Fd). This causes the net force on the object to be zero, resulting in an acceleration of zero.

Charlie Sheen tried, but he's a raving drunken druggie most of the time, so it wasn't particularly well thought out. Nastassja Kinski was nice thouugh.

Of course, nothing has been put up for sale yet. The sale of NHS contracts is only the model and it hasn't yet been signed. But the Conservative party do have a history of selling for less than the market value. And let's not forget they have a penchant for preferential treatment to private companies as a whole.

In the unlikely event of my receiving a direct answer to a direct question, I'll omit the part in the brackets:

Do you think the sale of public services to private companies improves services and ensures the safety of the economy?

In other words, youre speculating on what might happen.

It can do.

Anyway chaps, what the hell has this got to do with Sheffield United? Really?

Can't we have a Left v Right bit of General Chat, so those of you who like to argue about and read this stuff can do so to your heart's content, and those of us who like to read about football and nob jokes can do so without the thread getting hijacked by discussions on the Common Agricultural Policy, or how much of a cunt Tony Blair actually is?

Please?

See, I never really understood that whole Galileo thing with the two objects of different weights falling at the same speed. I get the Moon experiment with the feather and the hammer but not really sure how Galileo proved his point.

That rather depends on the initial velocity of the coin.

If we take terminal velocity being value t, and the initial velocity of the coin as i and the current velocity as being value v then:

1) If i>t then the coin will indeed slow down as the drag (i.e. an upward force) is greater than the gravity (i.e. the downward force).

2) If i=t then the coin will neither slow doen nor speed up, it will simply maintain its velocity

3) If i<t then the coin will speed up as the drag (i.e. an upward force) is less than the gravity (i.e. the downward force).

In both 1) and 3) the acceleration (and remember acceleration can be positive (speeding up) or negative (slowing down) will act on the coin until such time as v=t.

That's rather speculative...

No its not. In some cases it has, in some cases it hasnt. Thats a matter of fact.

Weve also discussed terminal velocity which I would have thought was sadly relevant to the Blades.

I met him a few years ago at a car dealership in Barnsley...
I thought then what a pompous horrible twat!!!!

And I was proven right!!!!

I also saw Gary Megson once and thought what a pompous horrible twat..
Think I might be proven right with that as well?????
