lets stop all saying "lets get behind blackwell" the man obviusly is not botherd, he said earlyier on in the week that he thinks auto is unlikely.
which is pretty true but you dont want to hear it from your manager.

so all the red and white arse kisses take off your specs
we ARE mid table now

WE WANT BLACKWELL OUT SAY WE WANT BLACKWELL OUT

How will that help? Seriously. Are there great options out there that will leap at the chance to take his place? Don't we stand as great a chance of a Robson redux as salvation?

Seems a bit like throwing the baby out with the bathwater . . .

I disagree - he cares loads - but simply isn't good enough to manage our club.

I had an op yesterday so have had to stay at home - it's been interesting to hear on radio Sheff how good Doncaster have played away at Newcastle and how unlucky they have been. I wish their gaffer would have had the chance to get the most out of our resources.

he'd be the first manager i'd go after

the problem is we r in a rut at the min, 2 points from a possible 18, cant see us getting any at home to newcastle with the way we r defending.

Blackie has blamed the problems we have on injuries and not enough depth in the squad, which we could have told him at the start of the season when he was saying everything will be ok.

although blackie has done well for us since he took over up until the summer the season where we basically got ridof the good things at the club, although it may not be his fault with injuries but some of the sales are his fault.

I like blackie for what he did for the club up until the summer, but maybe like he said after the play off final, maybe that was as far as he could take the club. Maybe another manager is what is needed for the club. Although many people are bitter with Blackie at the min i still bet a lot of these bitter people will say he did a good job up until this summer, and for which he deserves to be thanked, but maybe this is his calling and time to move on?

This can not go on..10 goals conceded in 3 games and newcastle coming next...how many will we let in in that one? I said that we would lose the next 4 games and that was the third one down...Now i think we will lose not only to newcastle but also to barnsley.
Kevin Blackwell should have gone in May after that half-hearted dispplay at Wembley.
We have one tactic and that's it....
Get him out!!

Come on then bright spark... Who would you put in charge instead?

We did at times, but varied it today and played some passing football.

For probably a two minute spell towards the end. There is always going to be times when the ball goes long, but despite the bloke shouting it behind me, we certainly didn't punt it long to Hendo all the match.

Put some good moves together I thought, and like you say, mixed it up.

By the way, there were a handful in the carpark after the game waving shoes.

We played excellent football today but the defending was shocking in fact schoolboy stuff. At the back we are a shambles Taylor is not good enough Walker is making mistakes and Killa is losing his man and costing us a goal a game. I'm not happy with the result but the style of play looked much much better we scored 3 goals and made loads of chances, but at the end of the day concede 4 and you aint going to win. The players have shown they can play good passing football today it's just a mystery to me why all season we have lumped it long, even Henderson looked a lot better today with the better service rather than having to battle against two big centre halves.

We scored from a long punt upto henderson.

They do right. Another loss, regardless how we played is still another loss. It was better but we still didn't win. And yet again the plank in charge is blaming it on injury's.

Perhaps we should have done it all the match then :D, Didn't say we never did it, just that it wasn't our main tactic and wasn't even close to happening all the match.

I thought the majority wouldn't so much mind us losing, providing we played well and changed our game?

Defence apart we did that, though to be fair the middle two could have given them more protection.

The "plank" in charge also mentioned a number of other things, behind the dressing room door, he'll not be mentioning injuries, he'll be showing them a video of the defending.

He'll not be sacked, particularly after we look like a different team (other than defence) and lose narrowly.

Im gobsmacked that we have actually managed to come away with 0 points today... If you simply look at the result today you would look for blackwells head however the performance was the most important thing today and that was much improved. Bad luck has cost us too... i mean morgan managed to hit it against another blades player and then landed directly at the cardiff players feet, this was then followed by a good united goal and then a very dubious penalty decision. The third goal was a shambles admittedly and the fourth was a great cardiff play... my point is if luck was on our side at the moment we would of won that game comfortably.
Before the match I wanted blackwell out but now I am unsure. A mini car park demonstration by a bunch of kids was pretty ludicrous after a pretty good united performance. If we had played awful today and lost then I may have joined them in that car park though...

Absolutely spot on. I agree with all that you say. I am convinced that the Cardiff defence was equally as shambolic as ours particularly in the first 15 mins of 2nd half and in that period there were chances going begging. As for KW his frailties have been exposed for several games.

I congratulate myself for not - for the first time this season - standing up and hurling some abuse at the manager. Another defeat but I remain convinced that the results will improve. There was reason enough to be cheerful today - there was some excellent football; no lack of effort on anyones part, an obvious lift in Evans workrate and commitment, Hendo today was probably has good has he's likely to be - so that's friggin good enough; since his arrival I have rubbished Harper more than praised him - I watched him today and I am now reasonably convinced that he will prove to be an assett in midfield; Quinn, I thought, had his best game of the season, in the short time he was on the pitch Camara didn't do anything wrong and certainly looks to have quick feet in the penalty area.

Overall a much improved display save some shambolic defending and, hopefully, in a matter of weeks we will have players back competing for places in every single department. Some good results will hopefully follow and so, God willing, February (again) will be the right time for the new man to take over!.

O'Driscoll is someone I've thought about as a potential next Blades manger as well. My only concern would be whether he has a big enough personality (whatever that means) to be in charge at a big club.

Having said that, Donny were awful at the Lane the other week and hoofed it long more than we did.

>We scored from a long punt upto henderson
you're missing the point.. we also mixed it up which means that the punt to henderson wasn't as obvious and makes it more effective.. phew.. honestly..

Do agree with that
When I moan about Blackwell I think I'm right to - the only thing I can't come back on is who do we get - available, wants to come, will change things etc etc
I think the next manager will be a big gamble again, but I'd defo be gambling if I was McCabe as I can't see the point in sticking at the minute
(Ps hope Jones got his usual stick from our mob today Cooper...:))

There is absolutely no way O'driscolll would be given the time demanded by Sheff Utd supporters.
I think Doncaster are the most boring team in the league anyway ,like 10 Ray Wilkins doing crab impressions.

You say it like you're trying to get a song going.

Answer me these questions sensibly and well, and I'll sing your song.

What is wrong with what he said?

Did we play well yesterday?

Did we play strong opposition yesterday?

Were we unlucky yesterday?

Did we score 3 goals yesterday?

Did we play "football" or "hoofball" yesterday?

Personally i thought we looked much better going forward yesterday, there was some fantastic stuff played down the left in the first 15 minutes or so, Taylor and Treacy managed to get past the fullback on a few occasions and put at least two fantastic balls in that were just not attacked by either Evans or Hendo.

However we looked like we could concede any time they went on the attack, people have said we could have drawn If Quinny's goal had stood, but what about their offside goal, where Bothroyd (I think) seemed to have just been left alone, now I'm sat in the Westfield so couldn't see if this was by design as they knew he'd be offside. Second half they just went through midfield with a couple of passes and movement, something that all our midfield quartet seemed incapable of dealing with.

I didn't think we were unlucky, thought we got what we deserved BUT the signs of improvement are there.

Surely TA your not expecting a response are you?

No these same people are the ones with shoes off, because that makes a difference doesn't it! I mean, "oh shit, they've taken their shoes off, were for it now"

These are the same that simply can't compute the problems that sacking him would potentially bring.

Lost narrowly to a very good side!!

Lost narrowly but definitely not to a very good side.
They're just one of a host of slightly above average teams in the log jam at the top which is where we should also be.

Couldn't agree more. Making out that Cardiff are a good side is just making an excuse for another inept performance. Blackwell has to go and go now.

Football is all about opinions and I honestly think we were no that bad yesterday, with a bit more of the 'rub of the green' we could easily have won this game. At the moment nothing is going our way. Remember though luck balances out over a season. We haven't suddenly become a bad side, we do have some key injuries, non more so tha Monty. We are desperate for him to come back into midfield, its no coincidence that he is injured and suddenly we start shipping goals.

As for the car park protest yesterday after the game, I witnessed it as I picked up my 120 years shirt. it was pathetic and a joke. 20 or so hooligans shouting for Blackwell out etc, most people I saw were telling them what to do and that they didnt represent anyone other than themselves.

Of course history will show who was in fact correct.

He might have the sort of "I went to the match" blinkers on. Did you go?
i didn't go 2day but if we lose against newcastle i will be going!!!
Oh, there we are. You are pontificating about a match you didn't attend. I bet you rang "Praise Or Grumble" too.

Here is his response.

So there we have it. Blades1889 is giving us his view on a match he admits he didn't actually go to. Next week, his review of the Norman Invasion of 1066, the World Cup Final of 1966 and me mowing my lawn three years ago, more events that he didn't attend.

Blades1889, you might get a bit more joy if you actually attended the match you are telling us all about.

Well I for one am not going to get all soft focused after one decent performance. Ill thank Blackwell for managing to change the style and tactics though.

Ill start to change my mind about Blackwell if we continue along this style of play, Im curious to see what happens next match given that theres as good a chance as not of Blackwell reverting to type and playing hoof it to Hendo, given his history.

If he reverts to type next match then theres no way Ill be changing my mind about him as it will demonstrate his complete ineptitude at managment given we can all see how better we are when we try to play football, and how much more the players seem to enjoy it also.

One match doesnt magically repair the damage he's caused in, at least, the last six and a half with his style of play and tactics IMO.
