We need someone on that Right side we've only got Lundstram and he's on the way out by the looks of things

Berge Should be playing at CDM as thats his proper position

A midfield of Buendia-----Berge-----Fleck would be different gravy

I think he's a decnt player but with limited funds, would anyone seriously propose blowing £20m on Buendia instead of 1-2 strikers when RCM is able to be covered by (at least) Berge and Ampadu?

If we had £20m available then I would advocate bringing Buendia in & finding a striker on loan. I think our problem is in chance creation more than chance conversion.

However, given we didn't seem willing to bid on Brewster I suspect we've about maxed out our Summer budget already (remembering Berge came out of it too).

Sadly, I think we're looking at signings under circa £5-6m, or loans now.

Buendia would be great, but a pipe dream.

I don’t think Ampadu can play on the right of our midfield three, hesplayed CB and asa holding midfielder but l don’t think he has the attributes to go box to box.

Bang on the money

would also take the pressure off the strikers. better balls into better areas......

Buendia and 1x quality striker = £45m. Bargin, the price to stay and compete and improve in this league.

Depends How much the board/prince want to stay in the premier league

We need a striker probably Brewster but we also need creativity from midfield as well

Signing buendia for 15/20 million is nothing compared to how much getting relegated is

It isn't a Pipe dream we get £100 million pound a year minimum how much we decide to spend is up to the board

Even if we sign brewster/buendia they are resalable assets we aren't losing money

I don't think it does depend on how much the Prince wants it. I just don't think we have the income at our disposal.

Nixon reckons we have the money for Brewster. I don't think we can afford Buendia + Brewster, but it sounds like we do have £20m + to spend.

I get that we run a tight ship, and that sustainability is key to our model. However, if this is constantly at the expense of getting CW's first choice targets over the line there will come a point that it's a false economy if it results in relegation. We're operating in an expensive market, it's where we want to be, but at some point I think the balance will need to be shifted toward being less frugal, at least on occasion.

The issues are clear to everyone, to solve them we might just have to spend more than we're perhaps comfortable doing within our current model.

And that strategy has worked out well for a lot of clubs!

So if Brewsters a loan, its a goer?

It might be that the money is only available for Brewster, if that makes sense. Everything I've heard from Wilder and the Prince suggests our budget can be a bit fluid at times. Berge seems like a good example. We probably didn't have those funds available as a standard, but when it became clear we could sign Berge for a certain amount, Wilder asked the Prince if we could stretch that far. Part of me thinks the same is happening with Brewster. It's clear enough to the Prince that we need a striker and Brewster is very highly rated.

I wasn't suggesting ripping up our strategy and going hell for leather, hence why i said 'on occasion'.

The other option is to carry on as we are, relatively sound financially but not able to compete as well as we'd like on the pitch. Good management and team spirit can take you a long way, as we've proven, but trying to repeat that over and over without improving the quality on the pitch, relative to everyone else, won't work longer term. So it's a choice, all i'm saying is for the right player, a real targeted acquisition, maybe we do push the boat out.

And before people say 'but then everyone else will want the same' - i'm not buying it. There are people paid more than me in my organisation, and i'm paid more than others. It's about what you bring to the table.

Wow - so you'd be happy playing this season with Sharp, McB, McG, Burke and Mousset (when fit/bothered)? Not sure they'll get you enough goals to survive.
Brewster might be a bust. At least we know Buendia can play in the PL....and play very well at that.
We can also utilize the loan option on a striker, and dare i say - bring in a free agent (Sturridge).

I don't think it does depend on how much the Prince wants it. I just don't think we have the income at our disposal.
It also depends on whether you think that everything has to come out of last seasons £132m PL prize money.

I wonder whether we might see JOC depart to fund a signing.

Who would.let him go and make do with Robbo or Ampadu in defence if it.meant Brewster and Beundia came.in ?

that would be suicidal in my view. We already got rid of one key piece of our really strong defence in hendo and the defence looked nowhere near as strong without jack there.

we aren’t magically going to score for fun given the way we play - so we are best off not messing any further with our defence imo.

Not after last night’s performance ! Surprised he didn’t get booked for taking out Enda !
