2 keepers missing

Can we/will we be allowed an emergency loan?
Yes, if Blackman isn’t fit. Eastwood hasn’t made 5 senior appearances.

A 7 day emergency loan but I think we could recall Long for 7 days.

Or bring Long back?

Long was on the way out before he put a Blades shirt on last season when Wilder blocked his new contract.
Have to say I was delighted when Moore was injured pre season as I felt sure we would go down if he was in goal all season.

We can't. The window has closed. You can only recall players in the window so it's too late.
It’s different for keepers, I’ve just looked it up and we can recall Long within 24 hours. Not sure what period for though.

In that case, it's an option then. Not one I want us to exercise but I'd have more confidence in him than Jake, tbf.

If Blackman is not fit it would be better to get in a short term emergency loan from a premiership club. Ward at Liverpool would be ideal. Long not for me and we would be stuck with him for the rest of the season if we called him back.

I’m not sure it works like that, I think he’s free to go back to Wimbledon once our “emergency” is over ie Blackman fit (and Wilder expects him back in training on Monday) or after Moore has served the suspension.

However, I agree someone like Ward would be better. Not sure if we can keep repeating a 7 day loan though.

I would have thought the issue is more a question of who goes on the bench if Eastwood plays
Hugo Warhurst played U23 this week v Crewe
(He's also been playing on loan at Frickley Athletic)
Marcus Dewhurst was on the U23 bench
When Eastwood has been with the First Team, Hugo & Marcus have been the U23 keepers
Marcus is due in Portugal this week for a stint with the England U17 Squad
Both Hugo & Marcus are U18 qualified
When neither of them has been available for our U18s, it's often been Sam Kelly
In Moore's & Blackman's absence & with Marcus with England, the pecking order would be
Eastwood
Warhurst

Reckon we'll go for someone like Danny Ward or Ben Hamer (more likely) on a short loan if Blackman isn't fit enough for the weekend.

No question about it we should bring Long back. He’s a better keeper than most give him credit for. He’s also our goalkeeper and he will know if he impresses over the next 3 games he could save his United career.

Leave him where he is he's useless! o_O

Kiss of death mind you as he conceded 2 today against the Millers.

Interestingly Wilder said in the post match interview he would have no qualms in starting Jake Eastwood v Leeds if Blackman isn’t fit.

No qualms and no other option has he?

The rest of the thread covers his options but he didn’t give any indication they’d look at a loan.

Not sure about the emergency loan regulation but if a professional keeper has fewer than 5 first team games then you can get an emergency loan keeper in. However I think Eastwood has 5 first team games 4 at Chessy and 1 today or 7 if you include the EFL cup. So........ how I see it no option for an emergency loan. If Blackman is unfit it is Eastwood who will be playing.

I’d forgotten he went to Chesterfield and played 4 games so I think you’re right. He hasn’t played 5 games for us but it must be all first team games. Jake will start if Blackman is unfit.

However the other rule on recall does come into play if you don’t have two fit keepers, Long could be recalled. I don’t think they’d do that so presumably Warhurst would go on the bench.

Can you even get an emergency loan keeper to cover a suspension or is it just for injuries ? Assume Moore is out for 3 games for violent conduct rather than professional foul.

Yes, it covers suspensions. Logically, it has to otherwise you’d have to stick an outfield player in goal.:)

How lovely.

Bet this was you after he'd just got the red card, eh?
