Hugo Warhurst played U23 this week v Crewe
(He's also been playing on loan at Frickley Athletic)
Marcus Dewhurst was on the U23 bench
When Eastwood has been with the First Team, Hugo & Marcus have been the U23 keepers
Marcus is due in Portugal this week for a stint with the England U17 Squad
Both Hugo & Marcus are U18 qualified
When neither of them has been available for our U18s, it's often been Sam Kelly
In Moore's & Blackman's absence & with Marcus with England, the pecking order would be
Eastwood
Warhurst
Be interesting to see who is in net tomorrow night. If it is Eastwood and Warhurst in the 1st team then Sam Kelly would get the nod?
Big night for him.

Whether it's too soon for Eastwood I don't know, but he's certainly a lad who's impressed me when I've seen him.

I believe Blackman is just about fit and I have no issue in Eastwood. If he's the 3rd best keeper in our squad then it's his time to step forward.
Did you see the game yesterday? Eastwood is miles off what’s required.

Like yesterday?

Good to see you're writing him off after coming on in those circumstances yesterday.

I've seen him play at all levels and imho he has more promise than Long or Ramsdale.

You've also completely ignored my opening line.

“Like yesterday” = “writing him off” ?

.........not on my planet it isn’t.

He’s not ready yet. I don’t want to gamble our play off hopes on what I saw yesterday. I’m amazed others would, and given any other options for Wilder, I’ll eat my left testicle if he doesn’t agreee with me.

Chris has already said if Jamal is not fit, they will play Jake as they have confidence in him. At about 4.25 in the interview below.

I’m sure Jake is a good prospect but he looked flustered at one point yesterday. I’m hoping Jamal is fit.

Which I’ll take as “we can’t get an emergency loan”, in which case you can’t expect him to say anything else.

Does anyone know the emergency loan rules, as I thought they weren’t possible now

It’s covered above in the thread but basically if you have a fit goalkeeper who has played 5 games then we won’t get sign off for an emergency loan. Jake would play as he played 4 games for Chesterfield and a couple for us.

I saw young Jake walking round Dam Flask today, and I learnt a new hip phrase....He's got his ankles out,I was informed by my Daughter.

Young people will know what this means.

That’s a huge concern for me. Hopefully Blackman can recover. How long is Simon Moore banned for?

Do you want Hendos on that?

Yes, Jake looked very nervous and hesitant.
Agreed. And I'm afraid, that's a very negative sign for a goalkeeper. It's the death knell for me if I see that in a keeper. Any keeper that shows nervousness or hesitancy isn't ever going to make a good goalkeeper - that's a fact.

I reflect, with respect, to the late John Hope. That lad had all the attributes (bar one) that one could ask for in a keeper. He was a big lad, 6' plus, big frame, very athletic, lightning reflexes like a cat! He had a tough act to follow Hodgy, but at first he looked like the real deal. He even got himself called up for international duty in those early days. But, he had one big weakness - he was a bag of nerves. And that affected everything. I remember that game when we lost 0-5 to Arsenal at the Lane and at one point he was looking skyward and praying to God. Not good.

I can understand, to a point, that any young lad is going to be a bit nervous thrown into the cauldron at Wolves the other night, but Jake did look terribly jittery and that transmits negatively through the team. So, for me, a better option for me would be Blackman if he's fit? But he has the opposite problem - he's so laid back that he's almost comatose and that brings some uncertainty with it as well.

I think it will be deemed “excessive force” so 3 games. Blackman is definitely coming up for training this week (he’s been at Chelsea for treatment). Hopefully his groin injury has healed.

It was a big game to come on and the biggest crowd he’ll have played in front of. He will get his chance.

I rate Jamal so hopefully he’s fit. As you say he doesn’t get ruffled.

So you’d put Blackman straight back in hasn’t been training and not that good anyway instead of Jake

Yes. And my money is on Wilder doing the same. You must have witnessed something different to me on Saturday if you think otherwise.

I must be honest mate and say that I really don't rate Blackman. I got some stick a while back when I said this way before he got dropped - but I'm sorry, it's my honest opinion and I don't mean anything nasty towards the lad at all. I thought he pulled of some blinding saves in the first match of the season v Brentford and I thought he did really well when we played Bolton away as well. They went route 1 on us, especially in the second half, and Blackman was superb, he caught everything in the air. But...I just think he's dozy to put it plainly. Slow to get down to low shots especially, but generally just slow to react in terms of his general game. Sure, he can do, and has done, some amazing reflex saves - but it's like he's not quite with it, not quite on this planet at times. And every game he plays I fear he's going to let us down with some almighty cock-up through just being tooooo laid back.

Anyhow.... I hope to God I'm wrong. But I'm feeling much more nervous about today's game knowing he's between the sticks.

Whoever is in goal, let’s hope it’s Leeds nil !
