On View from Sheffield on Sheffield.net there are photos of views from Ringinglow to Lincoln Cathedral and the Humber Bridge. When the area was more rural you could also reportedly see them from Hurlfield Road too.I know there is a club above ringinglow that has something that tells you what you can see all around and it does say lincoln cathedral. Humber bridge.
And several power stations etc. someone told me you can see Emily moor tower in Sheffield. from top of Albert Road in Heeley. I,m not so sure.
if anyone knows if that is true. and other parts of Sheffield you can see it.
There's a few folk on here already know I'm a professional tea drinker. You’ve let the cat out of the bag there 71!

This great thread has prompted me to lament (yet again) the disappearance of traditional old floodlight pylons from grounds all over the country.
Not only did they provide illumination of the play , but also (because they shone from a greater height) they didn't blind you as you watched the game , like the modern ones do (which sit along the front of stand rooves).
If you have a lowish seat and the ball is hit above the deck , you get a nauseating blast of mega lumens as you look up to follow it.
These days it's worth taking a peaked cap to a night game !
Also , when travelling to away matches , the pylons were often of great assistance in finding the ground - always gave a little excitement when you entered another town and saw them marking your destination.
But they're gone now , never to return , like the wonderful smell of Bovril & pipe smoke and the warmth & surges on the terracing.
Not all progress is spirituality healthy.
There is so little left of the football experience I adored as a teenager.
Sorry for the maudlin nostalgia.
Never been invited up there, misen, Jade. The view from Swizzler’s penthouse?

What are the hors d'oeuvres like?
Neighbour of mine then!I grew up on the top of Myrtle Road just along from the Ball Inn and it was slap bang in the middle of the view from there![]()
Must have been!! Only moved off at the start of this year, well, I moved away a few years ago but mi mother was still there. Was gutted when she sold the house! The view of the backs of those houses is just mental!Neighbour of mine then!
Agreed! I lived the first 21 years of my life on Myrtle...Must have been!! Only moved off at the start of this year, well, I moved away a few years ago but mi mother was still there. Was gutted when she sold the house! The view of the backs of those houses is just mental!
I do the same! Often wondered about knocking on the door and asking if they mind me sitting on their back step for half hourAgreed! I lived the first 21 years of my life on Myrtle...
View from our back windows over BDTBL and the city was panoramic.
I didn't appreciate it till I got married and left.
I still drive on there occasionally for old times sake.
Brilliant! I know exactly what you meanI do the same! Often wondered about knocking on the door and asking if they mind me sitting on their back step for half hour![]()
At least you can ride a pushbike without ending up in the coronary care unit!!I wish we had hills in East London. I like hills.
Mind you, go across the Woolwich Ferry & it's very hilly that side.
I can imagine! At least you can ride a pushbike without ending up in the coronary care unit!!![]()
You sure that's not Hillsborough on fire?...From mi bedroom window, can only see the tops of the stands but the floodlights still look decent!
Sadly, we can but dream! You sure that's not Hillsborough on fire?...
Plenty of hills around Hampstead and the Heath area towards Golders Green. Not sure you dirty East London types are allowed there thoughI can imagine!
If I want some hills I go across the ferry & go to Greenwich Park. There are some b*stard hard hills in there. In fact I went there this summer & one path was so steep I had to get off & push me bike & I thought I was gonna have a Sean Connery then, just from walking & pushing...I'm sure Greenwich Blade will concur..
Bloody pricey grub in the cafe as well..
I'd rather not go. Too many smelly Gooners & Spurs round that way...Plenty of hills around Hampstead and the Heath area towards Golders Green. Not sure you dirty East London types are allowed there though
Give us three points on Sunday and ill put in a good word for you.
You should try Jenkin Road up here Hammer! Featured in the 2012 Tour de France when stages were in Yorkshire! Absolute killer climb. Electric bikes have gone down a storm up here!!I can imagine!
