What a daft move this is for the bloke.

This just stinks of being a personal clash with the manager about money that’s gone wrong, his agent should hang his head in shame because his stupidity has cost Duffy the dream he’s fought for the last few years..

However legendary status forever more... GLTTL - he’ll need it..

Feel gutted , my favourite player and a pleasure to watch , hand on heart not sure how much game time he would have got but to be honest I didn’t care !! I loved watching him and just wish he could have had TIL at least January to either see if he could cut it or at least have a chance to play in the top flight ! Many many great memories and for that I thank him ! Might even buy one of those dodgy Facebook kits with his name on and send it him for when he plays with his kids in the garden !
Good luck and thanks for the memories Duffs , you were a good un !!
As ever UTB !!

Maybe he wanted some sort of game time guarantee bit like Coutts, remember him saying when there was all that talk about him only being able to do 60 mins, and he came out and said he could do 90.

With all the new signings there would be a heck of alot of competition.

We have 99% of the time looked great when Duffy has played, when he went off all the calmness went with him.

Someone has got take up the Duffy role (unless we change our style) and i wish them all the luck in the world, comparrisons will be made.

Iam with most, good players in Duffy will be missed good play maker hope he fits in at Stoke ,trust in wilder things look good for us

Gutted, a very sad end to Duffs' time at BDTBL, gone but never forgotten.

Duffy has a place in our hearts for the most iconic derby moment this century. Think it just pips Browns goal just on it's timing 30 seconds after they'd thought they'd turned the tide
His lack of 90 minute mobility has signalled the closing of a wonderful chapter in our meteoric rise from 57th in the league to top 20
Hope he does a good job at Stoke and they get glimpses of his undoubted talent as he joins Hogan there

Sad but we all move on. I guess in time the story will come out.
Good luck and thanks for everything.
Smash those Pigs again for Stoke 😃.

I am of a similar opinion. Pure conjecture, of course, but my guess is that his chat with Wilder was motivated by the number of players coming in rather than the money. Maybe he was pushing for a new, better contract as a way of pushing himself up the pecking order. We know he wasn't happy when he's previously been dropped and maybe he was really worried that his last year on his contract would involve zero minutes playing time.
Wilder probably told him he couldn't guarantee playing time and a new contract was out of the question, to which Duffy replied that there were other clubs knocking on the door if Wilder and SUFC didn't want him. Wilder probably shrugged and said, go away and think about it, then tell me what you want to do.
So he's decided on playing time rather than a worst-case scenario of a few cameo appearances in the PL, which is fair enough.
Having said that, I get the impression that his mrs is a bit of a behind-the-scenes nag and this decision is clearly not his alone.

Can't read too much into a couple of tweets but there's both Duffy and his wife thanking fans and players but specifically not mentioning management or the club itself. Looks like there's resentment about the handling of all this from their side at least so the door is well and truly shut even if it is technically a loan.

A shame but little point in dwelling on it now.

Other than Stoke there are no winners in this situation. Duffy would have been a good squad player this season but Wilder had no choice.

If you give somebody a 2 year contract you expect to get 2 years out of then. If you doubt they can give you two years you don’t give it them. The club doesn’t owe him a living. He’s been a great servant for the club and the club have paid him well for it.

There is some bollocks written on this thread if there is any ill feelings it is from Duffy and his wife, I can't for the life of me see where Wilder or the club has done anything wrong. All good things come to an end at 34yr old Duffy wants to be playing football as much as we all love Duffy we can't guarantee him starting games especially with the talent we are bringing into the club at the moment. Stoke will be a good move for him it is nearer home for a start and he will get more games than he would here. To be honest I'm a bit disappointed he didn't fancy the competition here to start in the Premier League, maybe he feels the top of the championship is his level or maybe his wife is bending his ear and wants him home more who knows. I don't see where he has been booted out of the club the choice was his and his alone. GLTTL I think he will regret it more than we do, he will for the rest of is life wonder what if no doubt.

Said on here multiple times that he was one of my favourite players. It's a bit sad, but he's made his own bed and is now lying in it.

We move on...
