True but in the absence of fact you have to look at what is most likely. The idea that Duffy politely enquired about his future and Wilder reacted by kicking off, publicly criticising him, dropping him and not giving him a squad number seems hard to believe.

I can accept that Duffy had genuine concerns and that he probably didn’t intend to create the situation he has but something has gone off and it looks like Wilder is pretty annoyed about it. With his record of man management I just find it very hard to believe his annoyance isn’t justified.

The whole situation is very disappointing.

Not so sure you could frame it like that. If he asked if possibility of improved contract out there that's fine. But if you're sprouting lines about other clubs willing to offer better money (which is seemingly not true now) then that seems very close to an ultimatum.
