Duffy and Coutts?

If Coutts couldn't run anymore he'd retire ffs, the disrespect is insane. Up there with Maguire having lead-boots and Billy can't do anything except finish.

Basham didn't play badly today for what he can offer as a CM, he just can't bring anywhere near what most championship CM's can in terms of building up play, crossing or picking forward passes.

I enjoy seeing footballers who can play not gazelles cutting off marauding runners, maybe it's just me
Me too mate but from what I’ve seen of the post Burton Coutts he wouldn’t have done us any good.

I’m not trying to be disrespectful and I’m certainly not one who has made those comments that you mention re Harry and Billy. One of the reasons we changed formation was to accommodate Coutts who was clearly a baller but one that couldn’t physically handle being in a midfield two. MacDonald was the same. Wolves played two in front of him and let him stroll about dictating play when he went there.

I just think adding Coutts to the mix (I’m not sure who was due to come off) was the wrong idea in this game.

Bash TODAY was far and away our best middy in every respect and the only one trying to stop the tide defensively. I sometimes wonder about the knowledge of football of some on here.
Look how many dribbles, completed passes, crosses and dribbles he made compared to Fleck and Norwood. Ridiculous to say he was better in every respect, I also wonder about what people see when they watch football.

I just thought it was a clusterfuck of bad decisions by players and management alike today. I was really pissed off with the sitting back when we went one nil up. We CANNOT hold leads when teams press us. A cliche I know but the best form of defence is attack especially with us. Why do we more often than not bottle the big games?? Is it the ethos of the club in general?? Our build up play was so languid today. We do seem to be a one trick pony when it comes to tactics it has to be said. I have been a fan of Madine but I was totally fucked off today with his recent stupidity, he could have given us another option today. Last point of my ramble is we should look at Bristol City today and see their pace and movement, lessons could be learnt.
Look at Bristols pace and movement. Lessons could be learnt? What are we learning from a team in 8th place for when our apparently one dimensional tactics have got us in the hunt for 2nd all season? We lose one game and we need to look at what other, lower teams are doing and learn from them? Come on pal, we're all disappointed with the performance and result today but have some perspective.

1st defeat in 11 wasn't it ,first goal conceded at the Lane this year ,but we cant hold on to leads.

Fleck was patchy.
Norwood was gash.

I don't give a fuck how many completed passes he made. I counted 478 3 yard passes between himself and Egan over 2 yards. All of which achieved the sum total of fuck all. Don't be scared of calling it as it is even when it's one of the precious ones.

Shit post of the day, and that's some achievement.

Oooh get you, read your original post again and if you still agree with any of it read my response again because it's true. And put your handbag away x
Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. I’ve read some of the stuff you post, disagreed with some of it but had the manners and respect not to put insulting replies. Disagree with my post, fine, just disagree in the right way.

I saw Coutts strip off around an hour in, supposedly to come on for Basham so we could keep the ball better.

That would be my complaint today, rather than have an energetic ball winner in the middle, we should've brought Coutts on.
He did yeah, I'd have hooked Norwood for him instead of Bash though.

Agree with both of those comments , thought Norwood was very slack yesterday

No sarcasm ,and Ive not disagreed becaiuse of your opinion ,Ive disagreed because its simply not accurate.

Fair enough, let’s agree to disagree, I think it’s now getting to who wants the last word and I’m starting to get bored to be honest. Let’s just avoid commenting on each other’s future posts to avoid this tit for tat.

So you honestly think basham does a better job in midfield than coutts? The same man who before he got injured we was sat top of the league then dramatically dropped after? Not really a coincidence to me. Yeah I agree he hasn't quite hit that form in the couple of sub appearances he has had this season but he is more than capable playing in midfield and would rather have a proper midfielder playing rather than playing basham out of position. Coutts could have come on today and calmed the game down and got us a foot on the game. We was losing it in middle of park and think he would have made a difference there.
At this moment in time yes. Oh and so does Chris Wilder.

Just wasn't our day. Brizzle played very well and we were out of sorts and changed our system god knows how many times during the game. We cant't win every game and will have twisty turny things along the way but despite the disappointment it was a good game that ebbed and flowed and Brizzle deserved the win.

Nope. Why? Do you enjoy Coutts running like a gazelle cutting off marauding runners?

I enjoy Coutts but sadly I fear that we’ve moved on. I don’t think he would have coped well today.
Your knowledge of the game and it’s nuances betray you.

Coutts was PRECISELY what was required yesterday.

No I don't believe wilder thinks he is better I think wilder thinks basham is tougher tackling and trys it in games where he thinks we might get over run i.e Leeds. Where we luckily scraped a result and yesterday where we was totally undone in midfield and quite frankly looked lost. I have said I don't understand wilder playing a defender in midfield but yet he won't play a right footer at left hand side. Said if any thing I can criticise wilder for that is it but I wont ever slag wilder off because he has worked miracles for us.

Unbelievable and naive. Not worth any more discussion.

I don’t think Coutts should have played much this season and Wilder has been right to hold him back, trying to ease him back in, yesterday though when he was ready to come on that was the first time I’ve wanted to see him all season. Norwood kept giving the ball away and this was the right game to intergrate Coutts back into the side.

It’s going to cost us a lot of money to find a player of Duffys ilk if we are to carry on with the same system when he eventually leaves, let’s hope that isn’t anytime soon.
