According to CW before the game both were flying in training this week. One doesn't even make the starting eleven, was he injured?. The other doesn't come off the bench when we were getting overrun in midfield and had to change the formation, very strange.

I saw Coutts strip off around an hour in, supposedly to come on for Basham so we could keep the ball better.

That would be my complaint today, rather than have an energetic ball winner in the middle, we should've brought Coutts on.

Duffy is the only player we have who can consistently take on his opponent. This is an area we should have strengthened to cover injuries.

Be a bit pissed off if I were Coutts, not only were Fleck/Norwood bang average but seeing Basham masquerading there must be pretty galling. Simply not good enough to play there, and no the goal at Leeds does not excuse him. Fine at the back, elsewhere he’s too limited.

I thought Fleck played well.

Sorry but in my opinion all that you said there is crap.
If anyone deserved MOTM today (and I use that with caution) it was Bash.

You’re more than entitled to your opinion but it doesn’t alter mine that he’s a very limited midfielder.

And again, it’s hard because he’s merely doing the job that’s being asked of him - but personally I’d much rather see Coutts there, someone who can hold onto the ball and dictate us.

Doesn't make any sense to me at all how we can still play basham in midfield isnt a midfielder and never has or will be. He doesn't even enjoy playing there and has admitted this himself so why is he still playing in middle of park. Only thing wilder seems to contradict himself on he won't/ doesn't like playing right footers at left handside and I get that but why when we have a brilliant midfielder on the bench in coutts and yet we still play bash there. Basham is brilliant in a back 3 and gives his all but he is just far to limited to be playing in midfield for me and offers us nothing there.

And you seriously think that Couts with his appearances so far has had any sort of impact?
Now Duffy is a different story.
I've watched him many times to know he can come on and protect the ball (possibly better than anyone else in our squad). Even this season he’s come on and settled us down. He should’ve been on the pitch that second half.

So you honestly think basham does a better job in midfield than coutts? The same man who before he got injured we was sat top of the league then dramatically dropped after? Not really a coincidence to me. Yeah I agree he hasn't quite hit that form in the couple of sub appearances he has had this season but he is more than capable playing in midfield and would rather have a proper midfielder playing rather than playing basham out of position. Coutts could have come on today and calmed the game down and got us a foot on the game. We was losing it in middle of park and think he would have made a difference there.

I was glad Coutts didn’t come on. City were a mobile team that were running past us. Coutts is the last person we should add in that scenario. He just has no mobility left. He never really had any. League one midfielders used to leave him running through treacle trying to catch up.

I think putting Bash into midfield was to try and stem the flow. Personally I like him at RCB.

Nope. Why? Do you enjoy Coutts running like a gazelle cutting off marauding runners?

I enjoy Coutts but sadly I fear that we’ve moved on. I don’t think he would have coped well today.

I just thought it was a clusterfuck of bad decisions by players and management alike today. I was really pissed off with the sitting back when we went one nil up. We CANNOT hold leads when teams press us. A cliche I know but the best form of defence is attack especially with us. Why do we more often than not bottle the big games?? Is it the ethos of the club in general?? Our build up play was so languid today. We do seem to be a one trick pony when it comes to tactics it has to be said. I have been a fan of Madine but I was totally fucked off today with his recent stupidity, he could have given us another option today. Last point of my ramble is we should look at Bristol City today and see their pace and movement, lessons could be learnt.

I enjoy seeing footballers who can play not gazelles cutting off marauding runners, maybe it's just me

This is my view as well. I was concerned to see us thinking of bringing Coutts on, and that’s not because I don’t think he’s a good player. But they had a lot of pace in the middle of the park and I’m afraid Coutts doesn’t have any. He just can’t run anymore. Lovely neat footballer I agree, but we’d have been even more exposed if he’d have come on.
