We dabbled with a bit of a drinking culture in various cliques of dickheads under Clough and it caused countless issues.

But, fucking hell, we know how to get pissed in style these days don't we. From some of his interview comments, I'm pretty sure Wilder lurks on here occasionally so, if you're reading this Chrissy, let's go fucking mental and enjoy it.

Big up the drinking culture, if you can win when you're pissed, you can piss it sober.

Vegas is the last hurrah then they need to get themselves in the shape of their lives. Big challenge ahead!

All joking aside. It will be exactly that. "Celebrate hard lads cos when you get back were gonna work like we've never worked before."

Buzzing for next season already.

I'm not keen on this drinking culture. Never have been tbh. I remember going on a Stag Do at 17 years old with blokes from work and they just got more and more pissed and acted more and more stupid. Meanwhile there were gorgeous women around looking for attention but not from this bunch of piss heads.

I think having a drink and getting a bit merry is fun. But taking it to the point when you can't think straight or walk straight or shag some gorgeous girl who may otherwise be interested in you is stupidity in the extreme.

I think waking up at 35 and looking 55 with a huge beer gut then getting diabetes and having your limbs chopped off and going blind is stupid also.

I realise I'm in the minority though.

It's a British thing especially. It's part of our culture.

There are more fun things in life I reckon.

The excessive drinking has taken a little bit of the shine off the season for me .

Maybe it can be excused a little for a weeek or two. They have something to celebrate after all and worked their nads off for months.
Once back from Vegas it will be family time and cold turkey for a couple of months, then back to work.

They're footballers. They won't be short of other opportunities for a little ooh-la-la....

Agreed I think when the whole squad and including Wilder gets back , they need to make a statement the party is over , back on the wagon and that's it until we're in the premiership . The drinking culture has been a little bit excessive for my liking since we've assured promotion. Work hard and party hard is obviously Wilder's work ethic, but the work has finished the premiership awaits.
UTB ,COYRAWW and FTP.

Like writing dreary fun-sucker posts on message boards?

Yes it's really spoilt it. Why can't the chaps just have a couple of sherrys then read a good book.

Let's hope we nothing to celebrate next season, or the scenes could be even MORE disgraceful.

Moderation and mediocrity in all things should be the watchword.

Yeah, teenage lads with a shitload of cash and flushed with fame (albeit local) in party shocker...

Going out for a pint was always good for morale and breaks down arkward social barriers amongst groups, also rewards for effort should never be taken away because then who tries ?...

So long as the bond isn't broken between the group and they come back "pals" from vegas there's nowt to worry about..

None of the team or the manager have put a foot wrong this season. No press stories of drunkeness or anything untoward. They have been absolutely professional in everything they have done. The season is over, they have achieved more than we could possibly have imagined. A week of excess is perfectly acceptable imho. As soon as they are back in training it will be business as usual. Give em a break, they certainly need and deserve it!

Absolutely fucking unbelievable that players are being criticised for letting their hair down in style after a season of success where they have won the league with a points tally unprecedented for this club. They have fought tooth and nail to achieve what they have, given it absolutely everything and if they want to celebrate it by getting smashed (which they have), and publically arsing around whilst being pissed (which they undoubtedly have), then let them, they have earned it. As someone who has been to Las Vegas, i know this squad of players will be in for the weekend of their lives, and very well deserved it is too.

Agreed. People who also put all over facebook photos of alcohol and with captions like 'it's going to get messy', 'wine o'clock' and 'let the sesh commence' need to be shown the door to the Twat's Thread.

I've no objection to the players having a drink. For nearly nine months they've played their part in ensuring Sheffield United get out of League One. Let them have their fun. Once back from Vegas, they can catch up with wives and partners and enjoy the summer before the real work starts.
Chris Wilder has always been one of the boys. He grew up supporting United, ran with the naughty boys , knows all the songs and it must be hard to remain impartial and calm about the whole promotion. He does however, come across as knowing what the job will entail over the summer so let's give him a few days to party. Why not, we have .
